00:00We are still here at Nangka Elementary School here in Marikina City where today is the first day of the school year here in Marikina City.

00:17Just like all other schools, all public and private schools here in Marikina City.

00:25Because of the storm, the first day of the school year was postponed to today instead of July 29.

00:35Just a few moments ago, we can see the students here are about to hold their flag ceremony.

00:41But only Grade 5 students are here in their covered court because Grade 1 and 3 are in their classrooms.

00:50Because not all of them will be able to attend.

00:53Yesterday, Grade 2, 4, and 6 enrolled 3,714 students.

01:00This is a lower number compared to the 3,800 students enrolled last year.

01:04But the number of students enrolled is still increasing.

01:09This school is located near Marikina River.

01:12But according to their principal, they were not affected by the storm.

01:18They just became an evacuation center.

01:20That's why the evacuees are taking care of this school until August 1.

01:24They also needed time to clean up their school because of the storm that hit their school.

01:33That's why they are fixing it so that it will be a good place for the students to return to school.

01:42On July 26, Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro announced that instead of July 29,

01:49all schools in Marikina will be allowed to enroll on August 5.
