00:40Hi, my name is Landon Harvey.
00:50I'm a comedian, ventriloquist, and puppet builder.
00:55I was very small in middle school and high school and so I got made fun of
01:12because I was small and my dummy was the same size as me and I'm glad it happened
01:21because it got me to the point where I didn't care about what other people
01:25thought of me and I could just kind of focus in on my art and what I was doing.
01:37I joined TikTok because I wanted a way to try out jokes that had an organic
01:43brief. I've been able to grow an audience from TikTok that's spilled into my
01:46Instagram, into my YouTube.
01:53Yeah, what are the key things to become the good ventriloquist? Well, you have to
01:58make sure that the puppets eyes are always looking at the subject whether
02:00it's you or it's the audience. That's called manipulation. Okay, making sure the
02:04puppet stays alive. Sure, yeah. You have to have good lip control. Uh-huh.
02:09Technique, yeah. I always say you don't want to smile all the time because it
02:13looks creepy. Yeah, you don't have a conversation with someone and creepily
02:16smile at them when they're talking. So I make sure that my face is relaxed when I
02:19do ventriloquism and when you practice that's a very important thing you should
02:22do as well. Oh, I like that. Be very relaxed. Yes.
02:28I perform because I love it. I love, I love all of the work it takes to get to the one point and then you go on
02:34stage and when you really just, just nail it and make them laugh and bring them
02:39into your world, you're providing escapism for them but then you're also
02:45seen in a different light and you're able to, you're able to bring this, this
02:50laughter and this, these, these puppet characters to life and there's, there's a
02:55magic in that for sure.
