00:00In other news, for government employees, President Bongbong Marcos signed an order for an increase in salary.

00:12President Bongbong Marcos added Executive Order No. 64 to increase the salary of government employees.

00:20The updated salary schedule includes all civilian government personnel in the Executive, Legislative, Judicial Branches, Constitutional Commissions, and Constitutional Offices.

00:31It also includes government-owned or controlled corporations that are not included in the GOCC Governance Act of 2011 and Executive Order No. 150, Series of 2021.

00:42Local government units are also included, but their implementation depends on the income and ability of local governments.

00:50This is good news for government employees like Jane Manimbo and Rochelle Ditroso.

00:56We are worried about our children and our daily expenses.

01:01It's good to hear, especially for us who are in low-position jobs. This is a small but big help for us.

01:12The President said that because of the decrease in purchasing power or the ability of Filipinos to buy or spend due to inflation,

01:19or the rapid rise in the prices of goods and services, the salary needs to be updated,

01:24and the benefits of government personnel to remain competent, committed, and active in the workforce.

01:31The President believes that this will result in an increase in productivity and high quality of public service.

01:38The updated salary schedule will be implemented in four tranches from this year until 2027.

01:44The first tranche should be in January, but it will be retroactive.

01:48It will be implemented in the second tranche, which will be effective in the next year.

01:52The high salary for the President, Vice President, and lawmakers will only be effective for those who will sit in the aforementioned positions.

02:00Qualified government employees will also receive P7,000 per annum of medical allowance.

02:06The Department of Budget and Management is tasked to issue guidelines for the implementation of the EO64.

02:12It has already been funded in the 2024 budget and is also included in the 2025 proposed national budget.
