00:00So, no stranger to pageants, what's it like being on the judges' side?
00:06Oh my goodness, so this is my second time judging the teen competition and I also judged
00:10the Miss USA competition two years ago.
00:13It's definitely difficult.
00:15You have such a short amount of time to be able to judge, so it's a whirlwind.
00:21I know it is for the girls, they are working their butts off to be able to be where they're
00:25at tonight, especially with the Miss USA competition, so I'm very excited to see how everybody does
00:30What do you think about all the changes that Miss USA has gone through in the last couple
00:33of years?
00:34Oh, it's been a lot.
00:36I mean, just from the rule changes from ages to marital status to child status, everything
00:42has been a wild change, but I think it does a lot for inclusion within women and gives
00:49a broader audience to who's watching this pageant and who it should include, and so
00:56I'm very happy that the organization is doing more to include different women of different
01:02forms, body size, ethnicity, marital status, children's status, to be able to be more inclusive
01:09to all women, because that's really what pageantry is about.
01:11Absolutely.
01:12Girl power, we will say we do love that.
01:14One last thought for you, walking out of the theater not winning the pageant might be difficult
01:19for some of these girls.
01:20What do you have to say about trusting the process and empowering these women to continue
01:25their work?
01:27I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason, and as much as it can suck in the
01:30moment, because trust me, I entirely know it does suck in the moment.
01:33I've walked out of theaters not winning numerous times, but it really does happen for a reason,
01:40and that's why I believe I am here today, that there are multiple women that are there
01:44where they are today, and it should happen that way, and that these women should be so
01:49proud of themselves, because even just getting from a local to a state to the national stage
01:54is such a humongous deal.
01:57It's ginormous, and I hope they are so proud of themselves and are able to use this as
02:01a platform to continue to propel themselves forward.
02:05Thank you so much, Kaylee.
02:06Enjoy the rest of your night.
02:08You too.
