00:00Lately, the Mr. Beast brand just can't catch a break. Now, the massive YouTuber's team has
00:05weighed in on the controversy surrounding his upcoming Amazon Prime show, Beast Games.
00:11"...Prime Video now announcing Beast Games, a new series set to feature 1,000
00:17contestants vying for a $5 million prize."
00:20Unfortunately, after Mr. Beast held a preliminary event in Las Vegas with 2,000
00:25contestants, people started making serious allegations about the TV series.
00:30Reports of dangerous filming conditions started coming out in late July,
00:34and the Mr. Beast team gave a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on August 2nd.
00:39Mr. Beast's spokesperson identified several different issues that affected the shoot,
00:44saying,
00:44"...it was unfortunately complicated by the CrowdStrike incident,
00:48extreme weather, and other unexpected logistical and communications issues,
00:53which we are currently reviewing."
00:55They went on to talk about the 1,000 contestants who qualified for the next stage of filming in
01:01Toronto, saying,
01:02"...we are grateful that virtually all of those invited to Toronto for our next production
01:07have enthusiastically accepted our invitation."
01:10According to Mr. Beast's representative, the team isn't trying to simply push past
01:15the concerns about Beast Games. They apparently began a formal review process that involved
01:21reaching out to 2,000 contestants in the Las Vegas shoot. So far, they've heard back from
01:2697 percent of the contestants, and they say, quote,
01:30"...we have taken steps to ensure that we learn from this experience.
01:33Hopefully, the experience in Toronto will be better than it was in Las Vegas."
01:38But not everyone is satisfied with the statement that Mr. Beast's team made.
01:42Certainly, some fans wanted to hear about this issue from Mr. Beast directly,
01:47but statements from his team are becoming a bit more common. When resurfaced Mr. Beast
01:52videos caused a stir near the end of July, it was his team that sent out the apology.
01:57Considering the scale of Beast Games and the number of people involved in the production,
02:02it's not too surprising that we've gotten a general response rather than a direct statement
02:07from Mr. Beast. The response itself didn't touch on any of the concerning stories that
02:12have been coming out of the Beast Games Las Vegas shoot.
02:15I have been receiving more updates about the injuries on the set of Beast Games,
02:21confirmed by multiple people."
02:23YouTuber Rosanna Pansino, who previously criticized Mr. Beast,
02:27claiming that he'd edited her appearance in his Creator Games 3 video,
02:30shared messages she was getting from some upset Beast Games contestants on her YouTube channel.
02:36The contestants claimed they were denied food and water, and that some people had
02:40their medications withheld while filming, sometimes for 12 hours at a time. Other reports
02:46touched on a number of contestants who were sent to the hospital after sustaining injuries on the
02:51show. Mr. Beast's team has yet to say what exactly they've learned from the shoot and
02:56what changes they'll be making to their own processes when the show continues in Toronto.
03:01That's something that Mr. Beast fans, not to mention the contestants themselves,
03:06are going to want to hear about.
03:08This Beast Games story is just the latest in a string of controversies that are plaguing Mr.
03:13Beast and his YouTube empire. People are still wrapping their heads around the Ava Chris Tyson
03:18controversy, where a longtime friend and collaborator of Mr. Beast was accused of
03:23exchanging inappropriate messages with underage fans. The internet is also digging into claims
03:29that Mr. Beast fakes his videos, even as attention is starting to turn toward Beast Games. The
03:35statement from Mr. Beast's team about the show was meant to assuage concerns, but many people
03:40aren't buying it. Some people are applying the concerns about Beast Games to Mr. Beast's entire
03:46approach to creating content based around making people compete for money. They seem to think an
03:51issue like this was almost inevitable.
03:54"'Four' have nothing in it. One has a million-dollar check inside of it."
03:59Others are in the, we-need-to-hear-from-Mr. Beast-himself camp.
04:03The size of the Beast Games production is massive, but they argue that, ultimately,
04:08the buck stops with Mr. Beast. Not everyone is turning on Mr. Beast over the Beast Games story,
04:14however. They point to all the good that Mr. Beast has undoubtedly done.
04:18"'In this video, we're curing a thousand people's blindness.'"
04:23And they see this latest issue as a mistake that any content creator could make when massively
04:29scaling up their usual formula. Regardless of how people feel, they'll be watching the
04:34next phase of Beast Games with way more attention than they gave to the initial Las Vegas shoot.
