00:00YouTuber Jimmy MrBeast Donaldson has been having a rocky 2024, but in spite of all the
00:06scandals that have been plaguing his brand, one thing has remained consistent — his
00:10relationship with Twitch streamer and YouTuber Tia Boyson, aka Tia Beastie.
00:16Speaking to the Flagrant podcast, MrBeast explained that he met Boyson in South Africa
00:21while he was on his way to film in Antarctica.
00:23When his trip was canceled due to an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Antarctic base, he ended
00:28up staying in South Africa for a few days and met his current girlfriend through a mutual
00:32friend while out for dinner.
00:34MrBeast said that he was immediately attracted to her, but still had to ask her a series
00:38of questions to test their compatibility.
00:41He apparently put her through the wringer to verify that she had hobbies and a passion
00:45for learning.
00:46You can tell, she likes learning.
00:47She's about to get a neuroscience degree just for fun, not even to get a job."
00:50Boyson verified this account on the Wide Awake podcast, though she also revealed that MrBeast
00:55was able to play it cool amidst all his questioning.
00:57At the time, according to Boyson, she thought they were just having the best conversation
01:01ever, and only learned later what MrBeast was up to.
01:05The pair impressed each other at this meeting, with both coming away with the feeling that
01:09they were a good match.
01:10After that, they began talking on social media, which eventually led MrBeast to begin making
01:15more trips to South Africa to visit Boyson.
01:18Hey guys, it's me and this random person who just…
01:23You can just call me Jimmy."
01:24Since getting together, Boyson has said that, quote,
01:27"...it's like MrBeast was written out of a book just for me."
01:30For his part, MrBeast has expressed gratitude that he's met someone who enjoys learning
01:35and self-improvement as much as him, and that they can share those passions with each other.
01:40The fact that they live in different countries and different parts of the world makes getting
01:43together a challenge for the couple, but they are currently making it work.
01:47It appears that MrBeast has found someone that can match his passion for work and learning,
01:51while Boyson has found someone that can keep up with her on an intellectual level.
01:55The two certainly appear perfect for each other, and both are working to make it work
01:59in the long term.
02:01Right out of the gate, MrBeast and Tia Boyson found themselves in a long-distance relationship.
02:06After all, the pair only met by chance when a canceled video shoot caused MrBeast to get
02:10stuck in South Africa for a few extra days, so they knew what they were getting themselves
02:15into from the very beginning.
02:17MrBeast spent so much time traveling for his YouTube channel that the couple was always
02:21bound to spend some time apart.
02:22Their long-distance commitment got even more serious a year into their relationship.
02:27Boyson does some of her own content creation work on YouTube and Twitch, but that isn't
02:31really her main interest.
02:32In 2023, she began pursuing a master's degree in neuropsychology at the University of Edinburgh.
02:39Boyson left her home in South Africa and moved all the way to Scotland, but the distance
02:42didn't change the logistics of her relationship with MrBeast.
02:46Not long after starting the master's program, Boyson made her feelings on the distance known
02:50in a post to X, then Twitter, saying, quote,
02:53"...long distance sucks."
02:55Luckily for the couple, the master's program won't last forever.
02:58Their long-distance days are definitely numbered.
03:01Whether Boyson is at home in South Africa or at school in Edinburgh, the couple spends
03:05most of their time half a world apart.
03:07However, it sounds like both Boyson and MrBeast plan to close that distance in the near future.
03:13Boyson admitted on a podcast that they'd been looking at buying a house together.
03:17Boyson was on an episode of The Gareth Cliff Show when she talked about house hunting with
03:21MrBeast.
03:22According to her, they've talked quite a bit about their long-term plans for the future.
03:26"...I'm going to do my studies now in Scotland, and the idea is to sort of, I wanna say, immigrate?"
03:33Boyson said that she'll always spend part of her time in South Africa, because that's
03:36where her family and many of her friends live.
03:39But when she finishes school, she plans on moving in with MrBeast in the United States.
03:43The couple has scoped out some possible places to live for when that day finally arrives,
03:48but they've still got plenty of time to figure out where to put down their roots.
03:52MrBeast might be the biggest YouTuber in the world, but he's not the only one in this relationship
03:56who's putting out content on the web.
03:58Tia Boyson is a streamer and content creator all on her own, though she doesn't have quite
04:03as many followers as her boyfriend.
04:05Boyson's YouTube channel, Tia Beastie, currently boasts over 37,000 subscribers.
04:10It would probably be even bigger if Boyson were able to devote more time to her content,
04:15but her upload schedule has slowed down significantly since enrolling in the master's program.
04:20Boyson and MrBeast keep their YouTube channels separate for the most part, but there have
04:23been a few occasions where one or the other has made a guest appearance in a video.
04:27For instance, MrBeast bopped over to Boyson's channel to play Gwent early into their relationship,
04:32while Boyson showed up in MrBeast's 100 Boys vs. 100 Girls for $500,000 video.
04:38On an episode of The Wide Awake podcast, Boyson explained why she avoids being in MrBeast's
04:44videos, even though she enjoys working with him.
04:46I'd never ask him to be on a video.
04:48I also don't want it to seem like he, uh, you know, if I accidentally win, it might
04:52look like it was planned."
04:54Summer 2024 turned out to be a rough time for MrBeast, as a YouTuber and his crew were
04:59rocked by one scandal after another.
05:01First, his longtime friend and collaborator Ava Tyson faced serious allegations of grooming,
05:07sexual assault, and exchanging inappropriate messages with underage fans.
05:11The ensuing controversy caused some to start scrutinizing MrBeast more intensely, and the
05:16YouTuber was forced to apologize when fans dug up old videos in which he used racist
05:21and homophobic slurs.
05:22Then news broke that contestants in MrBeast's BeastGames TV show were getting injured while
05:27shooting, and former MrBeast employees started coming forward with disturbing accusations
05:32about other dangerous shoots and general bad behavior from MrBeast himself.
05:36As this all came tumbling out, one concerned fan posted a since-deleted comment on one
05:41of Tia Boyson's YouTube videos.
05:43According to Deserto, the commenter urged Boyson to get away from MrBeast, and she responded
05:48by defending her boyfriend.
05:50She wrote,
05:51"'There is so much that is not being said.
05:53I wish I could talk more about the situation.
05:55Half the things that are said are not true.
05:57I wouldn't be with him if they were.'"
05:59Much of the internet might be turning on MrBeast, but it appears Boyson is fully prepared to
06:04defend his reputation.
