A hotel in Germany's picturesque Moselle wine valley collapsed overnight, killing at least two people, local police said on Wednesday (August 7), as rescuers worked urgently to pluck the three remaining trapped guests from the rubble. One woman's body was recovered but emergency responders have not yet been able to reach the body of a second victim, a male, rescue operation chief Joerg Teusch told reporters. - REUTERS

00:00I can tell you, as I've told my colleagues, I've never been so happy to see a stranger's child.
00:15We all had tears in our eyes, and I still feel the same way now.
00:20The whole story has a very emotional component, because when we arrived, when we looked at the building,
00:26it looked like we weren't going to take anyone out.
00:29We assumed that everyone in between was dead, and the rooms that remained could only be described as miracles.
00:36One lady says the door fell out and the toddler, the mother and she, were buried under the door frame,
00:42and then the rubble fell on top of it.
00:44In other words, they were lucky that a protective cave had formed in which they were able to survive in the confined space.
00:51And, of course, you also have to say that their rescue took place a good two hours ago,
00:57and they were trapped in the building in the dark from 11pm.
01:01That is an exceptionally emotional situation.
