00:00I feel like I'm wasting the good stuff here. Is the man not going to be joining us?
00:03The man? Yeah. I should save this if he's gonna...
00:06He doesn't do this kind of thing anymore.
00:08Cameos?
00:08Meetings.
00:09Welcome back everyone, it's Charlie.
00:11Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Marvel have started revealing all the deleted scenes,
00:15alternate storylines, and alternate cameo scenes that were cut out of the movie.
00:19You could fill several other movies with the stuff that didn't make it into the final movie.
00:24Kevin Feige even revealed Ryan Reynolds pitched him
00:2720 different versions of the movie before he said yes to one.
00:31So we'll break it all down.
00:32If you're brand new to the channel, be sure to subscribe to get all the videos.
00:35We also have D23 coming this weekend.
00:38We might get our first big Daredevil Born Again trailer.
00:41Of course, I will do all the videos for whatever they wind up releasing this weekend.
00:45Starting with one of the biggest things that got changed.
00:48One of the original planned endings at Comic-Con this year,
00:52Marvel announced Robert Downey Jr. was returning,
00:54but not as Iron Man or an Iron Man variant like Superior Iron Man.
00:58He was coming back as Victor Von Doom, Doctor Doom from another universe,
01:03likely the Fantastic Four movie universe that we're going to see in that new movie.
01:07They haven't revealed the actual number designation of that universe yet,
01:10but in that universe's present day, it's the 1960s,
01:13and he's supposed to show up for the first time in live action in the post-credit scene for that movie.
01:19Originally, we were supposed to see Robert Downey Jr. cameo during Deadpool and Wolverine.
01:24That's the whole reason why Ryan Reynolds added the joke at the beginning of the movie
01:28when he was trying out for the Avengers in the MCU during 2018,
01:31right before Avengers Infinity War happened.
01:43In the theatrical cut, they worked in a joke that the big guy,
01:47a.k.a. Robert Downey Jr. himself, Iron Man, doesn't do cameos anymore,
01:51and that's why he wasn't doing Deadpool's interview.
01:54He was worried he was wasting all of his good material on Happy Hogan,
01:57and then proceeded to make a bunch of jokes about how Happy Hogan didn't have any superpowers.
02:01The other reason why they had the Happy Hogan scene as well
02:04was because he played a version of Foggy Nelson in Ben Affleck's Daredevil movie,
02:08so Jon Favreau had like his own special part of that early pre-MCU era of Marvel movies as well.
02:14But originally, Deadpool and Wolverine were supposed to pay off the early joke
02:18with Robert Downey Jr. returning at the end of the movie,
02:21like he'd actually return as his Iron Man to pay off the cameo scene with another joke.
02:25But remember, this would have been him coming back as his Iron Man from the 616 universe
02:30because it's before Infinity War, so he still would have been alive,
02:33explaining how he could show up in that cameo scene.
02:36So because at Comic-Con they made this big announcement
02:38about him coming back as Doctor Doom from another universe,
02:41very easy to understand why Marvel cut his cameo scene in Deadpool and Wolverine,
02:46like why it didn't wind up working out.
02:48While they were making Deadpool and Wolverine,
02:50Robert Downey Jr. finally signed his contract to return for Avengers 5,
02:54Doomsday, and Secret Wars as that Doctor Doom,
02:57and Marvel wanted his first time back in the MCU
02:59to be that Fantastic Four movie post-credits scene as that Doctor Doom.
03:04If they had brought him back during Deadpool and Wolverine for like a jokey post-credits scene,
03:08it would have completely undercut that more serious tone of his Doctor Doom character.
03:13And they wanted his return to the MCU to be this huge twist
03:17where everybody freaks out on screen like,
03:18oh my god, it's him!
03:19But it's not him, it's Doctor Doom.
03:22So it just didn't make sense to see him in Deadpool and Wolverine as Iron Man
03:26because then people would have expected him to come back as that Iron Man
03:29in future movies like Avengers 5 and Avengers 6.
03:32I am sure there'll be enough casual fan confusion when he returns as his Doctor Doom.
03:37The minute he shows up on screen, if people see his face, Robert Downey Jr.'s face,
03:41they'll instantly think that it's Iron Man
03:43and will be totally confused when they try to explain the Doctor Doom of it all.
03:47But this is also part of the reason why Ryan Reynolds released that early joke
03:50about the non-post-credits scene in Deadpool and Wolverine.
03:54Like in the actual movie, the post-credits scene they go with
03:56for Chris Evans' Fantastic Four cameo scene
03:58is just to pay off that joke from earlier in the movie
04:01when his human torch winds up prophesying
04:04or calling out the way that he winds up being killed.
04:07Make enemies with Disney, tell a few dick jokes, make a few jokes at my expense,
04:10make a lot of jokes at Hugh's expense,
04:11and completely sidestep Marvel's mandated after-credits sequence,
04:14which, if you haven't figured it out yet,
04:15is always just a commercial for another movie
04:17which will invariably end with a commercial for another movie.
04:19So the joke of that post-credits scene
04:20is that it doesn't really set up the next Marvel movie
04:23the way the traditional Marvel post-credits scenes do.
04:26They will start doing that again.
04:28Like I said, Robert Downey Jr. coming back as his Doctor Doom,
04:31though in the Fantastic Four movie,
04:32that will set up his appearance in Avengers 5 Doomsday.
04:35That will literally be an advertisement for Avengers 5.
04:39Probably one of the next big characters that got cut early on
04:42was Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider.
04:44There were a lot of theories about Ghost Rider being in the movie early on.
04:46Turns out they were actually going to do that.
04:49Ryan Reynolds revealed that they removed him mostly for budgetary reasons.
04:53The character would have required a ton of CG to do him properly,
04:57and Ryan Reynolds also said that there were a lot of other cameos that got cut
05:00purely for story-based reasons and budgetary reasons like this.
05:04It's also why they had the joke about Chris Evans' Fantastic Four cameo scene.
05:08When he dies, Deadpool is saying,
05:10Do you know what he was doing to the budget of this movie?
05:14Speaking of more cut cameo scenes,
05:16they were going to include cameo scenes from the 2015 Fantastic Four movie.
05:20That's why you see the scene of them in the end credits,
05:22but no actual scene of them in the movie itself.
05:25They explained that those 2015 Fantastic Four characters
05:28had less of a story-based reason for existing in the movie,
05:31and they said their big rule of thumb with a lot of the cameos
05:34is that they needed to have story-based reasons for existing in the movie.
05:37They couldn't just be cameos for cameo's sake.
05:39Like the one cameo that Ryan Reynolds said he considered
05:42to be more of a traditional cameo,
05:44like Blink and you'll miss it, then they're gone,
05:46was Henry Cavill's cameo scene as Wolverine.
05:48More of like a funny one-off kind of joke.
05:51As opposed to X-23, Blade, Gambit, Electra,
05:54who had bigger roles in the movie, like a fundamental part of the story.
05:58Ryan Reynolds did talk a lot about Henry Cavill's cameo scene as Wolverine,
06:02the Cavalreen.
06:03He said that he was actually one of the earliest decisions they made
06:06for alternate Wolverine versions,
06:08and Henry Cavill said yes immediately,
06:11even made himself sick smoking the cigar all of a single day,
06:15like the next day he was super sick
06:16just because he doesn't like smoking cigars.
06:18He even made a mustache joke about his cameo scene after the fact,
06:22mostly because a lot of Deadpool's jokes during his cameo scene
06:26were clowning on DC over the way they treated him
06:28throughout his entire run as Superman
06:30in all the Justice League debacle, the whole mustache of it all.
06:33They originally planned to have more X-Men cameo scenes
06:36of those classic X-Men for Hugh Jackman's new Wolverine.
06:40In the movie, they explain his team of X-Men were killed by humans,
06:44which he regretted not being there to save him.
06:46It drove him to become a killing machine,
06:48slowly causing the world to turn against the X-Men
06:52and think of him as a villain.
06:53That's why everybody hates him when the movie picks up
06:55seeing his character in the bar,
06:57because he's been going around slaughtering people all over the world.
07:00They were originally going to show more flashback scenes
07:03with cameos of those original X-Men
07:05showing exactly how they died on his world.
07:08That's why in the movie, when he's explaining to X-23
07:11and the other characters he mentions,
07:12Bees, Storm, and Cyclops specifically,
07:15they were going to be the other cameo scenes that were part of that.
07:19Kevin Feige said that we'd eventually see
07:21why they didn't include those X-Men cameos.
07:24My assumption is that most of those X-Men
07:26will return in Avengers Secret Wars from some other universe
07:30and they just wanted a more story-based reason
07:32for them to exist in future movies
07:34and Secret Wars will just provide that reason.
07:37It sounds like the flashback scenes that they would have got
07:39would have just shown them already being dead.
07:42So just like dead on the ground,
07:44not actually having any lines or anything like that.
07:46So they wanted to give them bigger cameo scenes
07:48and the movie didn't have space for that.
07:51The other thing about this,
07:51I know there'll be a lot of questions
07:53about the whole continuity of it all
07:54because there were five different writers on the movie
07:56and it sounds like there were many different versions of the movie
07:58that existed while they were making it.
08:01The actual theatrical cut canonizes that Deadpool
08:04is officially from the main X-Men movie universe.
08:07They're calling it Universe 10005
08:09which previously was the X-Men First Class universe.
08:12I'd always assumed that he was part of that universe
08:15because of Deadpool 2 with their cameo scene
08:17but during Days of Future Past,
08:19they canonized the original Bryan Singer X-Men movies
08:22to the First Class universe
08:24so all the X-Men movies are meant to be from the same universe.
08:27I know there are always questions about the whole Colossus of it all
08:30like why are there multiple versions of Colossus
08:32if they're all from the same universe?
08:34Deadpool has also made fun of that many times too.
08:37The movie itself makes fun of a lot of different versions of actors playing characters.
08:41He calls out that there's five different versions of the Punisher.
08:44He calls out that there's a new juggernaut
08:45like oh you're the new juggernaut this week.
08:47Speaking of continuity, a lot of big questions about this.
08:50How the movie changes the timeline of that X-Men universe
08:54because of what happens with the Logan movie in X-23
08:57being older but in present day
09:00and the X-Men being alive now.
09:02So if it wasn't clear, the movie actually tells you
09:04that it takes place six years after 2018
09:07so the present day of Deadpool and Wolverine is 2024 in the X-Men universe.
09:12The Logan movie took place in the distant future of that universe
09:16but at the end of Deadpool and Wolverine,
09:18now Wolverine is alive, X-23 is now much older
09:22and in 2024 in this universe,
09:24remember she's not born until much much later in the timeline
09:27but now she's an adult in this universe here.
09:30So what they're saying now is that the Logan movie
09:32is a completely alternate timeline
09:34because now Daphne Keene being there in present day
09:37at this age changes all that
09:39and even though this Wolverine is from a different universe,
09:42the X-Men team is still alive
09:44so like this variant can show up and join that X-Men team
09:47with X-23 if they wanted to.
09:50So here's where we also tie this to another post-credit scene from another movie.
09:54Supposedly there was a deleted storyline
09:56where they were going to tie this movie to the Monica Rambeau post-credit scene
10:01where she got stuck in that X-Men universe at the end of the Marvel's movie.
10:05Originally I think they planned for her X-Men universe she got stuck in
10:09to also be the 10005 universe, Deadpool's universe
10:14but it sounds like it just became too much story
10:16and they wanted Deadpool and Wolverine to mostly just be a love letter
10:19to that era of Marvel movies from before the MCU
10:23so they wanted to be a little more self-contained
10:25just kind of bumping up a little bit against the MCU
10:28like they make a bunch of MCU jokes
10:30they use the TVA from the Loki series
10:32so they're like kind of brushing up against the MCU
10:35but at the end of the movie they all go back to that X-Men universe
10:38he doesn't go to the MCU at the end of the movie.
10:41So I think they just weren't ready to like fully tie this to the MCU
10:45and maybe in the future what they'll say is that
10:48that Beast post-credit scene the X-Men universe
10:50will just set up secret wars at some point
10:52and they'll tie that to the Deadpool movie.
10:55Ryan Reynolds also revealed that Walker Scobell
10:58was originally going to play Kidpool like everyone assumed he would
11:01if he didn't see a number of years ago
11:02when he was filming the Atom Project with Ryan Reynolds
11:05they were filming a scene in between scenes
11:07he did this entire Deadpool 2 monologue
11:10which impressed the hell out of Ryan Reynolds
11:13originally they were going to have him play Kidpool
11:16like be the foul-mouthed Kidpool that you see in the movie
11:18the reason why it wound up being Ryan Reynolds' real-life daughter
11:21Inez Reynolds is because in the time it took then to actually make Deadpool
11:25and Wolverine Walker Scobell grew so much
11:29that he would just look like a normal adult version of Deadpool
11:32in the costume if they put him in a Deadpool costume
11:35so it wouldn't really make sense they wanted their Kidpool
11:37to be like a very very tiny kid version of Deadpool
11:41this is actually a big shocker
11:43originally Mephisto was going to be the big bad of the movie
11:46not Cassandra Nova
11:48I think the early reasoning is they wanted a crazier
11:51multiverse cosmic level villain on the Void
11:54in the comics there are many versions of Mephisto across other universes
11:58they have their own version of the Council of Reeds
12:00or like the Council of Kangs called the Council of Red
12:03just to explain how there could be a Mephisto variant ruling over the Void
12:07supposedly though Marvel already filmed scenes with Sasha Baron Cohen
12:11as another version of Mephisto for the Ironheart series in the MCU
12:15in a couple other things
12:16so I think they decided they didn't want a bunch of different
12:18concurrent versions of Mephisto running around
12:21and also because the movie was trading heavily on X-Men Fantastic Four nostalgia
12:26it just made more sense for the villain of the movie
12:29to be based on X-Men mythology
12:31and even though Mephisto has shown up in X-Men comics before
12:35he hasn't really shown up in any of those original X-Men movies
12:38so like they wanted fans going in to see the movies
12:40to trade more heavily on that nostalgia
12:43Ryan Reynolds also said they did try to film a fastball special with Wolverine
12:47but in the movie the version that they were going to do
12:49was them using Toad for the fastball special
12:52they filmed it but it didn't wind up making the final cut
12:55the closest we got to an actual fastball special in live action
12:59was during X-Men Last Stand
13:01also the closest we've seen to Wolverine smoking cigars
13:04apparently in real life Hugh Jackman really doesn't like smoking in movies
13:07which is why you don't see Wolverine smoking cigars all the time
13:10when he appears in movies
13:12Daphne Keene said that she had to redo a lot of her X-23 scenes in the movie
13:16when they first meet the resistance team of variants
13:18like when they all start walking in
13:20all because Channing Tatum's gambit was so hilarious
13:24when he was just spouting off all of his crazy dialogue
13:27that you could barely understand
13:28that was also part of the joke too
13:30is that Deadpool could not understand what he was saying
13:32he even breaks the fourth wall to say that they're missing all kinds of critical exposition
13:36because his dialogue is so bad
13:38so everybody kept breaking and laughing
13:40and they kept having to re-film scenes so she could get her dialogue out
13:44one of the other big cut cameos was Ben Affleck as his Daredevil
13:48in the movie there's a joke with Elektra
13:50saying that it's okay that he died like it's not a big deal
13:52which is mostly a joke about her and Ben Affleck
13:55having been married and divorced in real life
13:58since the events of her showing up for the first time in that Daredevil movie
14:02if you didn't realize her character also wears Daredevils
14:06utility belt throughout the movie
14:08they cut his cameo scene mostly for budget
14:10also because he wouldn't have had as big a role in the movie
14:12like he wouldn't have been part of this resistance team
14:14it would have been more on par with Henry Cavill's cameo scene as Wolverine
14:18and even though Kevin Feige revealed that they let them do
14:21pretty much anything they wanted to in the movie
14:23there was one joke that Disney made them change
14:26because it was too crazy
14:28they wouldn't say what the original joke was
14:30but the joke they replaced it with
14:32was when Deadpool calls Disney out for lying to him
14:35making it feel like Pinocchio stuck his nose up his butt
14:38and then started lying
14:39basically a butt stuff joke
14:41so the original joke was worse than that
14:43if you can imagine
14:44my assumption is that it involved Mickey Mouse
14:47doing Deadpool in the butt
14:48like it was butt stuff involving Mickey Mouse
14:50and that's what they didn't want
14:52there were many other versions of the entire movie itself
14:55like I said Ryan Reynolds pitched 20 different versions to Kevin Feige
14:58before he said yes
14:59before Fox bought Disney
15:01like years ago after Deadpool 2
15:03originally Deadpool 3 would have been a lower budget road trip movie
15:07Midnight Run style
15:08with Deadpool and Wolverine
15:10like not too different from what we actually saw in this new movie
15:14but it wouldn't have had any crazy multiverse stuff
15:16or crazy cameo scenes
15:18then after Disney bought Fox
15:19and Ryan Reynolds was like pitching the new version of Deadpool 3 to Kevin Feige
15:24before Hugh Jackman came on board
15:26there were like 20 different versions of the movie
15:28then after Disney bought Fox
15:30and Ryan Reynolds started pitching Deadpool 3 again
15:32but before Hugh Jackman signed on
15:34there were all these 20 different versions
15:36that involved crazy different plots
15:39they probably would have had a lot of Wolverine and X-Men jokes
15:41but no actual Wolverine cameo scenes
15:44one version would have been a road trip movie
15:46with just Deadpool and Dopinder going across country
15:49much lower budget
15:50one version was going to be an ultra low budget
15:53five million dollar Sundance indie movie style movie
15:56like super low budget
15:58imagine Ryan Reynolds filming the movie in his backyard
16:01like that kind of low budget
16:02one version would have been this total fake out style movie called Axe Cop
16:07that they would have filmed purposefully to be a terrible movie
16:10and filmed Deadpool and Wolverine kind of like a secret movie
16:13that they would have released for like 15 people in theaters
16:15so the Axe Cop movie was meant to be about two cops that shared one brain
16:21it would have been Hugh Jackman and Wolverine
16:22they would have released it in theaters
16:24and like 15 people would have gone to see it
16:26because it would have looked so bad
16:28then they said the idea is that a couple minutes into that movie
16:31it would have switched over to the actual Deadpool and Wolverine movie
16:35as you see it in theaters now
16:36so it would have been like a secret release of Deadpool and Wolverine
16:40making people think that it was like some other terrible movie
16:42my assumption is that after that his idea
16:45is that people would have heard about Deadpool and Wolverine
16:48being secretly in that movie on social media
16:51then they would have gone to see the Axe Cop film
16:53just so they could see Deadpool and Wolverine
16:55you can instantly understand why Kevin Feige said absolutely not to that movie
17:01like no way hard pass
17:03why don't we just release a Deadpool and Wolverine movie
17:06and tell people to go see that instead
17:07like we don't need to secretly release it
17:09there was also a longer deleted scene of Channing Tatum's gambit
17:13during the actual post-credit scene
17:14paying off his joke earlier in the movie
17:17about having been born on the void planet
17:19the whole idea like the whole joke of the character
17:22is he isn't sure if he was born on the void or in another universe
17:25because he never got his movie made
17:27so he never got another universe to actually be from
17:30so at the end of the movie
17:31Deadpool and Wolverine convince Hunter B-15 and the TBA
17:34to send all the resistance group to their original universes that they came from
17:38so like Blade goes back to the original Blade universe
17:40Elektra goes back to that Ben Affleck Daredevil universe
17:43but because Gambit didn't have a universe to go back to
17:46he was just stuck on the void
17:48so like you see him in the background of the actual post-credit scene
17:50on one of the monitors
17:51just standing around with nobody there
17:54because he doesn't have a universe to go back to
17:56this also answers the question of how X-23 wound up
18:00with Deadpool and Wolverine during their shawarma scene
18:02with the Kevin Feige's famous pizza joke
18:05normally X-23 because she comes from the future of the Logan movie universe
18:10like she's a much older version of that version of X-23
18:13she would have gone back to the distant future
18:15I think the reason why she wound up with them in present day in 2024
18:18is just because Wolverine and Deadpool asked them to bring her to this time period
18:23because this version of Wolverine has now become her surrogate father again
18:27papa bless
18:28I'm also pretty sure they're going to bring Daphne Keene back during Secret Wars
18:31when Hugh Jackman's Wolverine also comes back
18:34cannot wait to see her in a version of the yellow suit
18:37they said early on there are about 70 different cameos
18:39in a billion other storylines that wound up getting cut from the movie
18:42so if they reveal any more of those I will try to do more videos for everything
18:46because the movie is making so much money
18:48like almost a billion dollars as me posting this video
18:51it'll probably cross a billion dollars in the next couple weeks
18:54Deadpool and Wolverine will probably be back before Avengers Secret Wars
18:58but they haven't said exactly how that's going to work
19:00Ryan Reynolds also said he wasn't sure if they were going to let him make Deadpool 4
19:05now because they're making so much money
19:07of course they're going to do Deadpool 4 but probably not till after Secret Wars
19:10it's Wolverine
19:11you're damn straight it is
19:12Disney brought him back
19:13they're going to make him do this till he's 90
19:15they truly will make both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman do this until they are 90
19:21there are a bunch more comic-con videos I'm still working on
19:23like I said D23 is this weekend
19:25there'll be a bunch more Marvel trailers from that
19:26hopefully we'll get that first Daredevil Born Again trailer
19:29so I'll try to do videos for all that stuff in the next couple of days
19:32be sure to enable alerts for my channel so you don't miss any of that
