Transcript
00:00The Energy Department and Energy Regulatory Commission laid down in front of the camera their steps to lower the price of electricity in the country.
00:09This is what Mela Lasmora reported.
00:14The Department of Energy and Energy Regulatory Commission agreed that their steps to lower the price of electricity in the country have already been laid down.
00:24In the hearing of the House Committee on Appropriations regarding the allocation of funds by the DOE and its attached agencies for next year,
00:32some congressmen were given the opportunity to look at the DOE and ERC's actions to lower the price of electricity in our country.
00:43Aside from the high price of electricity, the high cost of electricity is also accompanied.
00:48As an example, Energy Secretary Rafael Lotilla laid down their initiatives regarding this.
01:19And the other is, just for example, the hybridization program that the National Power Corporation is trying to do and promote in the off-grid areas.
01:33That's also intended to bring down the effective price of electricity.
01:42From our view, the lowering of electricity prices or ensuring affordability is a result.
01:50It's a result of various measures being taken by the Energy Regulatory Commission as well as the Department of Energy.
01:58So I think all roads lead to achieving affordability.
02:04For the year 2025, the DOE is asking for more than P3 billion to improve the service of energy in the country.
02:13After Lotilla's statement, they continue their efforts to expand the renewable energy sources in the country.
02:20Basically, yes, Mr. Chairman, the target is for 35 percent renewable energy by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
02:34This Wednesday night, the officials of DSOD and its attached agencies also participated in the budget hearing.
02:40Under the 2025 National Expenditure Program, they are expected to receive more than P2 billion.
02:48In the discussion, the congressmen first discussed the issues up to the flagship project of the Administration,
02:55which is the Pambansang Pabahay for the Filipino, or 4PH Program, and the issues raised by the authorities.
03:02It took about nine months for one project to receive a loan.
03:08I cannot force them to receive a loan because they have loan requirements.
03:15They are also protecting the members' money.
03:19So what did we do?
03:21Since our delivery is slow, we needed to build a construction.
03:27We fixed the affordability because of the interest subsidy.
03:31We have access to funds because the private sector is willing to finance the housing production.
03:39The House Committee on Appropriations continued their discussion on the Pambansang Pondo for the next year
03:48by other agencies of the Administration on Monday.
