00:00Did I ever think I'd be in my late 20s helping a raccoon on her weight loss journey?
00:05Oh my gosh, wow, that's heavy. Okay, get up there.
00:11She has to work really hard to climb. Well, here we are once again. My life is so chaotic and weird.
00:18This, this does.
00:33That is Portia. She will sit on my head every day. I've had her here at my sanctuary for about two
00:38years. She's quite literally obsessed with me. I knew it. I knew that was gonna happen. I have
00:44a pack of six rescued wolf dogs here at my sanctuary and it's just beautiful chaos. Suddenly
00:49I'm being tackled because they all want to love me at once. It absolutely gets overwhelming running
00:57the sanctuary by myself. I sit there with a fox on my head. Okay. Or my wolf dogs. In case you're
01:06wondering where 90% of this mud came from, it's this guy. And I'm like, wow, how did I get to
01:12this point? I grew up as your typical animal loving child. If I wanted to take in some sort
01:18of stray animal, my mom was always super supportive. Savvy the raccoon is doing amazing.
01:24She is probably half the size she was when she arrived. Other than caring for the dozens of
01:30animals here at my sanctuary, the rest of my time is consumed by my two children, Ella and Clay.
01:35Ella and Clay try their best to help me. This could be anything from helping me clean out water
01:41buckets to some enrichment things like giving treats through the fence. This is just ridiculous.
01:48I'm the one who does all the hard stuff and raises them and keeps them alive and she gets all the love.
01:55Jacob came from an abusive breeder and was extremely traumatized. However, Jacob loves
02:01my daughter Ella. He's extremely gentle with taking treats from her hand. I'm good at reading
02:06their body language. Because of this, I was comfortable with allowing Jacob to form this
02:11relationship with Ella. The fact that both of them just naturally really do love animals is
02:16really amazing. Of course, I love it.
02:29That little bit of happiness that I see in them being able to experience this lifestyle,
02:34it makes it all so worth it. After a really really long day knowing that I was able to do
02:41this, albeit really hard work, I was able to create this thing to give them this safe haven.
02:53Can you hear that? Sometimes I actually look out my living room window and I just see the animals relaxing.
03:00It's so cool to have that in my backyard. It's like, this was a good day.
03:07If your partner doesn't want to give you attention, here's a couple tips.
03:11One, you can just sit on their head until they decide they want to pet you.
