00:22TIG-29 PESOS
00:24The blame for the arrival of Lola Florida to the National Irrigation Administration
00:30did not go unnoticed after it rained.
00:33The agency started selling TIG-29 pesos of rice under the Contract Growing Program.
00:40I bought it because I wanted to buy cheap rice.
00:45I couldn't afford to buy expensive rice because it was being measured.
00:50NIA sold more than 50,000 kilos of rice to the elderly,
00:55single-parent, and four-piece residents of Barangay Piñahan, Central, and Pag-asa in Quezon City earlier.
01:04The rice was already loaded.
01:0610 kilos of rice weighed P290 pesos.
01:11This means that the well-mealed rice in the market is P47 to P55 pesos per kilo.
01:18The well-mealed rice is P180 to P280 pesos per kilo.
01:24The rice I buy in the market is P56 per kilo.
01:28Now, I bought P29.
01:30A lot of people are buying it.
01:32It's a big help to me because I have two students.
01:36It's a way to save money.
01:39This program will not only provide cheap rice,
01:43but it will also help our farmers.
01:46NIA bought six kilos of rice from the Irrigators' Association.
01:51The agency gave them free rice, insurance, and financial aid with the help of contract farming.
01:58This is an agreement between NIA and the Irrigators' Association.
02:02We will pay around P30,000 pesos.
02:06There is also a cost of P20,000 pesos.
02:11Then, our farmers will return P5,000 to NIA.
02:16NIA buys P20 per kilo of rice.
02:19We only earn P0.
02:27We earn P0 because we don't have to pay P20 anymore.
02:30Kalahok has a contract growing program of P40,000.
02:36That's why Bantay Bigas doubts that the program will be sustainable.
02:42It's clear that if it's subsidized, the price of rice will be low.
02:49The National Government should do something to ensure that the program is budgeted.
02:58P20,000 pesos is limited.
03:06In reality, we can't subsidize everything.
03:09But the government is giving a lot to our farmers.
03:16The budget of the National Rice Program is different.
03:22Our President wants it to be sustainable.
03:25That's why the government wants to subsidize it.
03:28Under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund,
03:32P10,000 pesos was allocated for the distribution of assistance to farmers.
03:38Aside from this, the P30,000 Pondo of the National Rice Program
03:43will be used by NIA under the Convergence Approach
03:47to expand and make the contract growing program sustainable.
