Denver Officers Fired Over Disturbing Group Chat Messages About Using Migrant and Refugee Shelters as 'Target Practice'

Three Denver police officers were fired after sharing disturbing messages in a group chat about using migrant and refugee shelters as "target practice." The Denver Police Department began investigating the officers in April after learning about the messages from another person in the group chat. The police department said it was "appalled" by the messages, which also disrespected newcomers and the entire police force. Newcomer shelters in Denver provide temporary housing for refugees and migrants. The officers were still in the probationary phase of their employment after graduating from the police training academy together.
