Philippines, Vietnam hold joint coast guard exercises

The coast guards of the Philippines and Vietnam, both claimants in a portion of the South China Sea, complete their first-ever joint exercises in Manila Bay on Aug. 9, 2024. Vietnam's 90-meter ship CSB 8002, which arrived at the port of Manila on August 5, and the Philippines' 83-metre offshore patrol vessel, BRP Gabriela Silang, simultaneously used water cannons at a smaller vessel to simulate a firefighting activity. The ships' crew also performed search and rescue exercises at a portion of the Manila Bay facing the South China Sea.

00:00I think.
00:03Wait, wait, wait, wait.
00:07Wait, wait.
00:31At least, we will have a good collaboration, cooperation with the claimants of the West Philippine Sea.
00:41And being an ASEAN nation also, it's good that we have at least one direction.
01:00Wait, wait, wait.
01:11The exercise that we did earlier is more on humanitarian.
01:16Firefighting, search and rescue, lifesaving.
01:19So, we hope that this activity will increase and enhance because our ocean is very vast.
01:26And many need the help of the Coast Guard.
