00:00So next guy on the list here at number five, another one of the players that I was very
00:08high on last year.
00:09I was taking my lumps early on in the season, but you hung on and you had patience.
00:15Jameer Gibbs did pay off in a very big way.
00:18He finished the season with a flourish and the big knock on him, George as well.
00:23David Montgomery is going to get all the rushing touchdowns, blah, blah, blah.
00:26This guy didn't do anything for the first six, maybe even seven, eight weeks of the
00:29season.
00:30You could really argue when it comes to Jameer Gibbs and he still finished with 10 rushing
00:33touchdowns and he's going into year two.
00:36Now I'm not saying David Montgomery's presence isn't important, isn't valid to knocking
00:41Jameer Gibbs down a peg, but I'm looking at Jameer Gibbs, the age, the offense, the need
00:45that they have for him in the Detroit Lions offense.
00:49And to me, Jameer Gibbs is one of the best investments you can make.
00:51If he is at the turn and I could start a team with Jameer Gibbs and Marvin Harrison Jr.
00:54I'm doing that every single time.
00:56I'm a big fan of Gibbs, especially in the PPR formats, George, where we talk about guys
01:00who are going to get those opportunities for targets.
01:05So when you're looking at Jameer Gibbs, do you see him the same way?
01:07And do you see him like I do, which is ahead of Jonathan Taylor on my board?
01:15Ahead of Jonathan Taylor?
01:16He's right there with him.
01:17I don't know if I'd take him ahead.
01:19They both, I love this Detroit offense.
01:21I mean, I truly love this Detroit offense and we're splitting hairs here, by the way.
01:25These are both second round running backs.
01:27I mean, I will take either one of them to, you know, to anchor my team here at running
01:30back position.
01:31And Gibbs is a lot of fun.
01:33Montgomery being there is somewhat annoying, but you know, a lot of teams have sort of
01:37a two back system here.
01:38So I don't let this ball get on my case too much there.
01:40The passing game is dynamic.
01:42We know that.
01:43This team is loaded.
01:44St. Brown, you know, I mean, they have everything they could want.
01:46Goss is a better quarterback than we give him credit for.
01:49You got the dynamic tight end is doing well.
01:51I mean, it's just, it's fantastic what's going on there in Detroit.
01:55Would I take him ahead of ball?
01:56Would I take him ahead?
02:00Probably not.
02:01I don't think.
02:02Only goes Taylor.
02:03Maybe is that more true consensus running back more than the prototypical running back,
02:08but I don't have any problem.
02:09Let's play it this way.
02:11I would love for the person in front of me to make the choice for me and it's what I'll
02:14just take the other guy.
02:15And I'm happy with that.
02:16I don't have to worry about it.
02:17I probably would not take, if I'm playing, I'm playing, I think, well, those six, eight
02:21leagues, wherever I'm going to play in.
02:23I wouldn't want Gibbs and six of them or Taylor and six.
02:26I'd rather split it up.
02:27You know, a couple of here, a couple of there, just do a sprawl, spread out my risk a little
02:30bit here.
02:31I like them both here.
02:32And I'll say this.
02:33I think Gibbs will do better.
02:34I don't know about the touchdowns that can be finicky, but I think his other numbers
02:37are better this year than next than last year.
02:39Right?
02:40Another year in the system.
02:41They trust him a little bit more.
02:42He'll get more work and you're right.
02:43The first, I don't know, six games, whatever it was, they didn't use them all that much.
02:47So they took a while to figure out how to use them until they really figured out what
02:50he could do.
02:51He's a dangerous, dangerous player, explosive, dangerous player, a guy in a good offense,
02:57all the things you're looking for.
02:58And what's so interesting to me, George, and I think it's one of my favorite numbers on
03:02the preseason board.
03:03Take a look right now at what Vegas is saying for his rushing total.
03:07They're saying eight 50 and a half at minus one 12 for the over under he had 945 last
03:13year.
03:14He already blew this number out of the water last year.
03:17After doing nothing for the first six weeks, people were trading him.
03:21People were dropping him in shallow leagues.
03:23That's how frustrated they were in Jameer Gibbs, George.
03:25I'm looking at this number and to me, this is an absolute smash of all the numbers we've
03:29seen so far.
03:30You know, we can argue about the CMC one and saying, okay, well, the under is really intriguing
03:33here because the over is so tempting based on what he did last year, but there's so many
03:37concerns with the injuries.
03:38We talked about that number when it comes to Brees Hall being, well, a pretty good number
03:42set pretty high.
03:43Maybe it's telling us what they think of Brees Hall this year is going to have a big season
03:46and there's Jameer Gibbs, who again, his rookie season destroyed this number.
03:50So I'm all in on the over here.
03:52Where are you at, George?
03:53I'll just do a little quick math here.
03:57850 divided by 17 is 50 yards a game.
04:03If he doesn't reach that, he missed what?
04:06Six games?
04:07I mean, he'd have to be injured for at least a third of the season in my mind for him not
04:10to reach that number.
04:11You know, something happened.
04:12He, you know, had a knee injury, whatever, a hamstring.
04:15So yes, I am with you, Joe.
04:17I think this is a great over to take.
04:18I just don't see, I don't see how he doesn't get it outside of an injury and you can even
04:21afford for them to miss two, three games.
04:23That would still be fine.
04:24We'll move it up to what?
04:2567, 68 yards a game.
04:26You'd still be good.
04:27He should still reach that number.
04:29So I said, the only reason I think he doesn't want to get this is because of a pretty significant
04:34injury.
04:35I'll go a step farther.
04:37I think David Montgomery's presence is a good thing for Jameer Gibbs fantasy value in a
04:41way because I do think it keeps him fresh and on the field.
04:43He doesn't have to have the full workload.
04:45He doesn't have to have those gold line carries all the time or those tougher carries in those
04:49third and short situations.
04:50And Jameer Gibbs, just go out there and be the dynamic playmaker that he is and stay
04:54on the field because he is a smaller frame.
04:57Okay.
04:58He is not Derrick Henry when it comes to rushing size running back.
05:02So Jameer Gibbs wheels up pound this over.
