Akari Chargers beat Galeries Tower Highrisers  The Akari Chargers outlasted the Galeries Tower Highrisers in a cardiac five-setter match, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 18-16, in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Saturday, August 10.  Oly Okaro fired 32 points on 28 attacks and four blocks to lead her squad, while Ivy Lacsina added 20 points.  “I don’t think that we have an advantage, because if you are the top team everyone wants to beat you so bad, and the teams are going to give everything they have. Just because we are in the first place does not mean anything, these teams are going to beat us,” Okaro told the press after the game. 00:00Going into this kind of game, I don't think we have an advantage, actually, being the top team.

00:07Because when you are the top team, everybody wants to beat you really badly.

00:10So they come giving everything they have, you know, because they feel like they have nothing to lose.

00:14So they just come, you know, sometimes you see a team that once looked one way and they turn out like a whole different team.

00:19You're like, wow, where did that energy and confidence come from?

00:22So I think just, you know, going in, we still, we even talked about it before the game.

00:27Just remember that just because we're in the first place, that doesn't mean anything.

00:30These teams are going to be hungry to beat us.

00:32So let's not get complacent. Let's not get too relaxed.

00:35I think we might have gotten a little relaxed in the game today at some point in the fourth set

00:39because we were leading and then we were up and we felt like, OK, it's about to be over, you know.

00:43And then after that, they came back and just surprised us and showed us like, no, we're going to fight.

00:48So it did slip a little bit where we got a little bit too relaxed.

00:51So it's something that we have to just work on moving forward that every team is going to come in fighting really hard.

00:56So we got to just show up every single game.
