Greg Pattinson, CEO of Foodbank SA & NT, reports a year-on-year increase in donations amid the ongoing cost of living crisis.

00:0210-11 years now.
00:04When we started we were doing maybe 100,000 kilos a year
00:08and we're now up to 10,000.
00:10It's grown every year, year on year,
00:12thanks to the generosity of the suppliers,
00:14the various growers and all of the industry that comes through the markets.
00:18One thing they don't forget is giving back to the community.
00:22From the Britain lands, the LA hills,
00:26through to Virginia and right here at the markets,
00:29we continue giving back.
00:31Through an actual issue that we have right now,
00:34which is a cost of living crisis,
00:37we're more and more actually providing that much needed produce.
00:41All of the communities we're going to
00:43really struggle to get fruit and vegetables
00:45at a reasonable price.
00:47They can't afford it.
00:48So we're also improving the health
00:52of many of the communities we're dealing with.
00:54In Alice Springs, for example,
00:56a lovely First Nations lady grabbed me and said,
00:58you know you're actually going to save people's lives
01:01by supplying the fresh fruit.
01:03I always say to people,
01:05remember, if you don't get a piece of fruit
01:08and you don't take it to people,
01:10you bring that to your own family.
01:12If it's a no, throw it out.
01:14You don't bring it to your family,
01:16we don't bring it to our family.
