00:00Heroes, welcome!
00:01And the return of the Philippine Olympians
00:04from the recent Paris Olympics.
00:07We will talk with Assistant Secretary Dale Devera
00:11of the Presidential Communications Office.
00:14Asic Dale, partner, welcome back on a Tuesday.
00:18Good afternoon to you.
00:19Good afternoon to you as well, good afternoon to you as well, Marge.
00:22That's our look today because we're sporty, right, Asic Dale?
00:27We're excited
00:28because our Olympians are arriving.
00:32Let's just clear the schedule
00:34regarding the arrival of our Filipino athletes
00:37from the Paris Olympics.
00:38What time are they expected to land their airplane
00:43at the Villamor Air Base today?
00:46As of the latest update,
00:48between 5 to 6 p.m.,
00:50expected arrival at the Villamor Air Base
00:53on a chartered flight that will fly them from Dubai to Manila.
00:58So from that, there will be a little processing,
01:00the usual processing,
01:02and then they will be greeted by their families
01:06there in Calica before going to Malacanang.
01:10Okay.
01:10So after the greeting at Villamor,
01:13they will be directed to Malacanang Palace
01:16to be greeted by President Marcos Jr.
01:19Asic Dale, what are the activities
01:22for the Filipino athletes in Malacanang?
01:25Music, Marge, what will happen later
01:28is there will be a simple ceremony
01:30for our Paris Olympians.
01:34All the athletes will be given presidential citations,
01:38but for Carlos Yulo, our double gold medalist,
01:42he will be given a Presidential Medal of Merit.
01:47What's the difference between the two?
01:51It's a higher honor, the Presidential Medal of Merit.
01:56Wow, that sounds so exciting, Nina.
01:58And of course, there will be a cash incentive in Malacanang, right?
02:04Yes. Actually, there are cash incentives
02:08that will be given not just for the gold medalists,
02:12but for the coaches and all the Olympians as well.
02:16So everyone will be given.
02:18It feels so good to go to Malacanang today.
02:21We're happy to know that not just the athletes,
02:24but also the others,
02:26because they gave the same effort in the training,
02:29and they deserve also to be recognized,
02:32and they really need incentives.
02:34And they all gave honor and pride to our country,
02:38so well-deserved for what we call modern-day heroes.
02:42May we know how much incentives?
02:46We'll give the President the opportunity,
02:50the moment, to tell them later how much will be given,
02:54or rather, what are the incentives that will be given to them.
02:59Okay, let's wait for that later, Nina.
03:01So, Asecdiel, here at the Heroes Welcome and Parade of Athletes Tomorrow,
03:07what time will this start, and what will be its route?
03:12Music March will start this parade,
03:16or the Heroes Welcome Parade,
03:18for our Paris Olympians,
03:21Olympians from Paris,
03:23from the Allure Theater at 3.30 in the afternoon.
03:26And then from there, it will go out to Rojas Boulevard,
03:30and then turn right to P. Burgos Avenue,
03:33until it reaches Finance Road.
03:35When it reaches Finance Road, it will go right to Taft Avenue,
03:38and then turn right again to Quilino Avenue.
03:42And then when it reaches Adriatico Street,
03:44it will turn left to reach the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
03:48So, it's a 7.7-kilometer parade,
03:52and I hope our countrymen will be one in welcoming them.
03:57So, all of these athletes are in the motorcade, all of them?
04:03So far, what we know is 17 out of the 22 athletes will be included.
04:08Five athletes will not be included because there will be competitions right after the Olympics.
04:15So, they're not done yet?
04:17But this is not the Olympics anymore, of course, there will be competitions.
04:20Yes.
04:21So, after the Olympics, there will be competitions scheduled.
04:25That would lead up again to the 2028 Olympics.
04:28So, it's the start of the campaign for the 2028 Olympics.
04:31Right away, right?
04:33Okay.
04:34So, what are the expectations of our countrymen
04:37after the Philippine Olympians reach the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex from that parade?
04:45There will be a small gathering,
04:48sorry, a small program, a mini program with them
04:52where they will be introduced one by one
04:54to sort of meet and greet with the fans there.
04:59So, everybody is welcome to go to Rizal Memorial.
05:03Tomorrow afternoon.
05:05Yes.
05:06To clarify, this will be open to the public.
05:08So, anyone, including ourselves, Ninia, we can just go there.
05:12We can take a picture.
05:14Yes.
05:15But of course, we'll expect that there will be a lot of people.
05:18Yes.
05:19So, not everyone will be able to come.
05:20Of course, I'm sure the security has to be in place
05:24because you might not be able to control the crowd.
05:29Yes.
05:30So, yes, security is still tight.
05:32Of course, we're also thinking about the security of the athletes.
05:38So, all of that, it's well-planned.
05:42And I think all systems go for tomorrow's parade.
05:46Is there entertainment?
05:48Is there a concert?
05:49Is there a concert?
05:50Is there singing?
05:51Or performances?
05:52Or is this a surprise for the athletes tomorrow?
05:55We'll see what's coming.
05:57But of course, Carlos Yulo and everybody are enough, right?
06:01Because we don't want them to take the limelight from this.
06:04Yes, correct.
06:05So, what we're doing now, what the Palace or the Office of the President is doing
06:09is to give them the moment to feel how we are all proud of them
06:15and how we are thankful for what they've done at the Olympics.
06:19One more question.
06:20You said the families will come.
06:22So, will their families come?
06:25Yes.
06:26The families of the athletes who are in the provinces or outside Metro Manila,
06:34we will send them to personally welcome them in Moharlica.
06:41That's nice.
06:42Maybe others will be surprised because they might not expect that the parents will come from the province.
06:48Yes.
06:49Yes, but we have to remember that they are given four companions each.
06:56So, maybe some will be excited.
07:01Of course, it will be a while before they see each other.
07:05So, we can expect a surprise family reunion of some sort.
07:11Yes, of some sort.
07:12Yes.
07:14And even the athletes who came home first.
07:17So, we brought them to Manila so that they can be together.
07:21It's going to be a great celebration.
07:22And as a deal with that,
07:24a message and a reminder to our fellow Filipinos
07:27who are looking forward to the return of the Filipino athletes.
07:31Yes.
07:32On March 9, we are encouraging our fellow Filipinos
07:36to join the Heroes Welcome Parade for our Filipino Olympians.
07:42And I hope that on the roads,
07:47we can see the warm welcome,
07:50the support, and the respect and love for the Olympians.
07:54Tomorrow, from 3.30 p.m. onwards,
07:57we hope that the time will be together.
08:02Yes, it's raining now.
08:05So, let's pray for that.
08:07Thank you very much for your time, Assistant Secretary.
08:11Dale DiVera, Presidential Communications Office.
