00:00For faster passenger travel, the Department of Transportation targets the interconnectivity of trains in Metro Manila and the nearby provinces
00:10through the Greater Capital Region Railway System.
00:14Joseph Moro has the news for you.
00:20In October, the Department of Transportation opened Phase 1 of LRT-1 from Baclaran to Paranaque.
00:27That's why LRT-1 is suspended during their operations every weekend as a preparation for this.
00:33We're installing a signaling system in the Paranaque stations and then we will connect it to Line 1 signaling system.
00:42It will depend on the testing and commissioning of the signaling.
00:45LRT-1 is one of four lines of trains in Metro Manila, but they are limited in number and it is difficult for some to move the trains.
00:55But the DOTR has a plan to connect all projects of the trains such as MRT-4, MRT-7, Metro Manila Subway and North-South Commuter Railway
01:04through the Greater Capital Region Railway System.
01:08For now, the connection of MRT-3 and LRT-1 can be done first through a common station that will be targeted next year.
01:17That's one of the reasons why we want to privatize the operations and maintenance of MRT-3.
01:25Once these two lines of MRT-3 and LRT-1 are targeted,
01:29this will be the loop where the other lines of trains that are being built by the government such as the North-South Commuter Railway Project will be connected.
01:37The DOTR went to Clark, Pampanga where 82% of the facilities are complete.
01:44This is the main depot of the entire NSCR or North-South Commuter Railway Project.
01:49This is where heavy and light repairs of the trains will be done once the project is underway.
01:54This depot is expected to be completed by June.
01:57In 2027, the target of partial operability will be from Valenzuela to Clark of the NSCR.
02:04Metro Manila Subway can also be connected to a common station.
02:09MRT-7 is also being built.
02:11In the Greater Capital Region Railway System, a railway system will be located in the provinces of Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite and Laguna.
02:21That's our dream, that our train system will be operational similar to the operations of trains in Japan or in other developed countries.
02:37Joseph Moro reporting for GMA Integrated News.
02:45Dengue outbreaks have already declared in the province of Iloilo due to the rising cases.
02:50According to the Iloilo Provincial Health Office, 36 out of 43 towns and villages have reached the so-called epidemic threshold.
02:59According to the Department of Health, in Region 6, Iloilo Province, the highest number of cases of dengue in the region is around 4,000.
03:07While in the entire Western Visayas, more than 10,000 have contracted dengue this year.
03:1323 have already recovered.
03:15According to the Iloilo Provincial Health Office, the supply of test kits for LGUs will be depleted,
03:20even the supply of insecticide for adult mosquitoes.
