Sky News host Peta Credlin says “all credit” to Australia’s Olympian teams but breakdancing had a “dud” performance.
“All credit to our magnificent Olympian team, that is bringing back a record swag of medals, but a dud performance is a dud performance, there is no point pretending otherwise,” Ms Credlin said.
‘Embarrassing’- Australia’s Olympic breakdancing ‘dud’ performance
“Breakdancing was one of those new sports introduced to us at Paris … unfortunately our competitor … who wrote her thesis on gender in Sydney’s breakdancing scene, well, she got precisely zero points in three rounds of competition.”

00:00And look, I'm as ready to applaud someone
00:03having a go as the next person,
00:04but that doesn't mean that every child must win a prize.
00:09I mean, all credit to our magnificent Olympian team
00:12that's bringing back a record swag of medals,
00:15but a dad performance is a dad performance.
00:18There's no point pretending otherwise.
00:20I mean, breakdancing was one of those new sports
00:23introduced to us at Paris.
00:24At best, it's a cross between dancing and gymnastics.
00:29I mean, what you can see there is some brilliant people
00:32at a recent Red Bull competition.
00:34That's what it's supposed to look like.
00:37Unfortunately, our competitor, Rachel Gunn,
00:39a 36-year-old university lecturer
00:42who wrote her thesis on gender
00:44in Sydney's breakdancing scene,
00:47well, she got precisely zero points
00:49in three rounds of competition.
00:52But anyone who says that she's a pretty ordinary performer,
00:57well, those criticisms have been called out as misogyny.
01:01Now, come on, if we want to compete, female or male even,
01:06you've got to accept the umpire's decision
01:07and the views of those who watch what you do.
01:10Former soccer crew, Craig Foster, has hit out at it
01:13and said that anyone who's criticising Gunn
01:16is un-Australian.
01:18Now, give me a break.
01:18Any way you cut it, her performances were crap.
01:21How on earth did she even qualify?
01:24But if you listen to the prime minister,
01:26she's a role model, he says,
01:28who should be praised for having a crack.
01:32Now, come on.
01:33I thought the whole point of the Olympics
01:34was to celebrate competition, not mere participation.
01:39What a waste of taxpayers' money.
01:42And what a cheap shot to claim justifiable criticism
01:45isn't allowed because Gunn's a woman.
01:48I mean, that's embarrassing
01:49to all the magnificent other female athletes
01:53who have excelled.
