The Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) seized 40 white-rumped shamas worth RM1mil at a supermarket's parking lot in Rawang on Sunday (Aug 11).

00:00The Wildlife and National Parks Department, or Perhilitan, seized 40 white-rumped shamas
00:07worth 1 million ringgit at a supermarket's parking lot in Rawang on Sunday.
00:12Reports said that each bird, worth approximately 25,000 ringgit, was brought to the premises
00:18for a competition on that day.
00:21Perhilitan Director-General Datuk Abdul Qadir Abu Hashim said the department conducted an
00:26operation with the police at 10 a.m. and found the birds in cages hanging from the
00:30parking lot's roof.
00:32He said some 22 individuals had claimed to be the owners of the birds.
00:37He said the birds and 40 cages, worth 240,000 ringgit, were taken to the Gombak police station,
00:45along with the 22 bird owners, to help with police investigation.
00:50Perhilitan has identified a 51-year-old local man believed to be the organiser of the competition.
00:57The 22 individuals have been released on 10,000 ringgit bail with one surety.
