P20-M AT PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF MERIT PARA KAY CARLOS YULO!    Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, nakatanggap ng P20-M mula sa Office of the President ngayong gabi. Kasa ay nito ang pagtanggap niya ng presidential medal of merit.

00:00Last but not the least, the President will confer the Presidential Medal of Merit

00:04to two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Edriel Yulo.

00:09The Presidential Medal of Merit is conferred from an individual for gaining prestige

00:14for the country in an international event in the fields of literature, the sciences,

00:19the arts, entertainment, and other civilian fields of endeavor,

00:23including sports, that foster national pride and artistic excellence.

00:29The citation reads as follows,

00:31Be it known to all men by these presents that I, Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr.,

00:36President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law,

00:41in recognition of his historic twin triumphs at the 2024 Paris Olympics,

00:46in the men's floor exercise and men's vault events,

00:50winning the first ever Olympic gold medals in gymnastics for the Philippines,

00:55for his demonstrated commitment to the Olympic ideals of excellence, respect, and friendship,

01:00advancing the cause of peace and global solidarity through sports,

01:05for his continuous application and development of skill, talent, intelligence, and discipline,

01:11proving that the Filipino athlete can stand shoulder to shoulder with the very best in the

01:16world, for his groundbreaking success as the first Filipino athlete to bring home

01:21multiple Olympic gold medals to the Philippines, for his truly uplifting life story,

01:27serving as a role model and inspiration to Filipinos for generations to come,

01:33especially young homegrown athletes, to strive not just for personal success,

01:38but for glory of country and people, and for bringing immense pride,

01:44honor, and joy to a grateful Filipino nation,

01:48have conferred the Presidential Medal of Merit on Carlos Edriel P. Yulo,

01:53done in the city of Manila this 13th day of August in the year of our Lord, 2024.

02:17Carlos Yulo will also be receiving 20 million pesos from the Office of the President,

02:33in addition to incentives under the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act.
