00:00Well, we start off with a major announcement, a very big award for SportsGrid yet again,
00:09back-to-back years.
00:11Congratulations to us.
00:12If you catch Inc. online or Inc. magazine, that you have seen that the Inc. 5000 is out
00:17and SportsGrid is on the list again.
00:21The fastest growing companies list, SportsGrid checks in once again, second straight year,
00:275,000 companies listed, and guess who's in the top 1,000, SportsGrid again.
00:31We check in at number 688, fastest growing company list is out.
00:36Congratulations to everyone involved once again.
00:40And you can obviously see here, Jeremy Stein's quote, essentially telling everyone here,
00:45folks, ladies and gentlemen, right now that being on the Inc. 5000 list for the second
00:51consecutive year is a testament to our team's relentlessness, dedication, and passion for
00:57intimidation and innovation, not intimidation, innovation in the sports media industry.
01:04That's why, folks, sometimes we got to put these on, on the show, the glasses, to see
01:09it up and close first.
01:10Well, congratulations to everybody involved.
01:11All right.
01:12As expected, bookmaker Matthew Boyer pleaded guilty to three charges last Friday for his
01:17role in a sweeping probe into the illegal California sports betting market.
01:20He's going away.
01:21It's going to be a multi-year sentence described as one of the nation's largest betting bookmakers.
01:26Boyer's operation allegedly accepted millions of dollars in wagers from Ipe Mizuhara, the
01:31former interpreter of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Shohei Otani.
01:36Based on federal sentencing guidelines, Boyer could theoretically receive a prison sentence
01:41of up to 18 years, but he plans to cooperate with federal authorities.
01:46Meanwhile, the National Football League could be joining Live Golf and all of these other
01:50companies to essentially accept money from private equity firms.
01:54The National Football League making the announcement yesterday that they're willing to at least
01:58entertain some equity firms in the future.
02:00No word on exactly who will be joining the National Football League in these new partnerships,
02:05but needless to say, this is pretty groundbreaking for the National Football League.
02:09Derricka Hamby is a player in the WNBA, and she is suing the Las Vegas Aces and the WNBA
02:16as well, as she has announced a federal lawsuit against the WNBA and her former team regarding
02:24treatment from the Aces revealing she was pregnant.
02:27Hamby alleges that she was subject to repeated acts of intimidation, discrimination, and
02:32retaliation from the Aces leading to her January 2023 trade to the Sparks.
02:38Hamby also alleges that the WNBA failed to properly investigate the issue.
02:44Not good news for the WNBA to hear something like this.
02:47The National Football League also doesn't like to hear when players get traded and hold out.
02:52That is what's happening.
02:53Hassan Redick basically is a new member of the Jets and not even so much.
02:57Right now, he's requesting a trade from the Jets, and they gave up a third round pick for him.
03:02But the bad news for Hassan Redick is he's not going anywhere.
03:05Joe Douglas running the show for the Jets has a quote, hopefully I'll get this one right,
03:10saying that we will have informed Hassan that we will not trade him, that he is expected
03:14to be here with his teammates, and that he will continue to be fine for the CBA if he
03:18does not report.
03:19Since the trade discussions back in March, we have been clear, direct, and consistent
03:23with our position.
03:25Jameer Gibbs is one of the top picks in your upcoming Fantasy Football League draft, but
03:30is he right now?
03:31Remains to be seen.
03:33Injured his hamstring at practice.
03:35He was incredible for the Lions last year.
03:37945 yards and 10 touchdowns, 316 receiving yards.
03:41Gibbs is going to be off the field for an unspecified amount of time.
03:45The Dallas Cowboys' valuation is at $10.32 billion.
03:51They are the most valuable sports franchise in the world.
03:55Once upon a time, they were only worth $40 or $50 million.
03:58That's sort of crazy.
03:59College football begins next Saturday.
04:01Our coverage here on SportsGrid all next week, including Saturday morning.
04:05So make sure you catch Ben Stevens, Joe Lisi, and the entire crew getting you ready for
04:09the upcoming college football season.
04:11The top 25 is out from the AP poll.
04:13That means we're getting closer.
04:14Georgia's number one, Ohio State number two, Oregon number three, Texas number four, and
04:19how about Alabama starting a season?
04:21Not in the top three.
04:22They're ranked number five with Kalen DeBoer to start off their new campaign.
04:26As you may have learned yesterday, if you followed me on social media, the Miami Marlins
04:31had a cleaning house, so to speak.
04:32A lot of executives let go, including two assistant general managers and many other
04:37staff members as well, as new president of baseball operations Peter Bendix brings in
04:42his own people.
04:43Will Wagner, the son of Billy Wagner, made his major league debut last night for the
04:47Toronto Blue Jays, and he had three hits in his debut against the Los Angeles Angels.
04:52He is the son of Billy, seven-time All-Star, and hopefully next year into the National
04:56Baseball Hall of Fame, came just short in the last voting.
04:59How about the Chicago White Sox?
05:01Their World Series was yesterday.
05:03They beat the New York Yankees by a final of 12-2.
05:05That's right.
05:07They beat the Yankees 12-2.
05:08Jazz Chisholm was hurt in the game.
05:09X-rays were negative.
05:10They're going to have more imaging today.
05:12He said he's fine.
05:13That doesn't mean anything.
05:15Jaron Duran of the Boston Red Sox has been suspended two games by the team, a team-imposed
05:21suspension for using a slur at a fan during a game.
05:27Red Sox are sitting him down for a couple.
05:29All right.
05:30There are some very peculiar notes here regarding sports betting and the Olympics.
05:35And again, this is the first time that we've really seen intense betting on the Olympics.
05:40And some of the medals, according to the sports books, have different settling bets, including
05:45USA and China's gold medal with a tie.
05:49So it just sort of depended on where and how you made these bets.
05:53But needless to say, not everybody is paying out the same exact way, plus or minus money
05:57included.
05:58Jordan Childs and her medal right now is still up for debate.
06:03They're still talking about it, even days after she was forced to give it back.
06:08Arbitration panel says they won't reconsider the decision on giving her bronze medal back
06:12that she was awarded in the floor exercise at the Paris Olympics.
06:15USA Gymnastics says it will continue efforts to let her keep the medal.
06:19But the quote from USA Gymnastics is that they were notified by the court of arbitration
06:23on Monday that their rules do not allow for an arbitration award to be reconsidered even
06:28when the conclusive new evidence is presented.
06:31So bottom line is she's probably going to have to give that back, unfortunately.
06:35And meanwhile, the world champions in hockey, the Florida Panthers, have a brand new streaming
06:41service that they are using with ViewLift to launch a DTC streaming service, airing
06:47their games locally, but also streaming their games with a partner called ViewLift to make
06:52sure that everybody is able to view their games in the future.
06:55Naturally, this is surrounding Valley Sports, which previously aired all Florida Panthers
07:01games and also Valley Sports has aired on these regional sports books, all sports across
07:05the country.
07:06Needless to say, this is their new service and they are moving on with this.
