00:00Prosecutors in Taipei say they're indicting a Chinese man who turned up at a harbor in
00:05northern Taiwan for entering the country illegally. It's a case that's raised doubts about Taiwan's
00:12coastal defenses. Prosecutors say he sailed from a port in Fujian province in China to
00:18Danshui in northern Taiwan, a sensitive location that leads to Taipei where the government
00:24is. He wasn't stopped until he sailed into a harbor and hit a ferry. Prosecutors say
00:30the man smuggled himself to Taiwan for personal reasons. Reports at the time said he may have
00:36been fleeing persecution in China, while Taiwan's Coast Guard said he was a former Chinese naval
00:42captain and could have been testing Taiwan's defenses. Prosecutors today say they're still
00:49working with police and national security agencies to investigate. Right now the only
00:54certain thing about this case is the embarrassment it's caused Taiwan. The questions it's raised
01:01over its ability to defend its coasts. Justin Wu and Louise Watt for Taiwan Plus.
