Cancer Freedom Relay to see 2,000 participants in Melaka

About 2,000 participants are set to join a 208km relay run organised by the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NSCM) to celebrate survivors and remember those lost to cancer.

NSCM's Managing Director, Associate Professor Dr M. Murallitharan, said the inaugural "Cancer Freedom Torch Relay" on Aug 24 and Aug 25 will cover the distance from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka.

00:18The inaugural Cancer Freedom Torch Relay will see the torch carried through Kuala Lumpur,
00:23Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.
00:25The Relay for Life is a way to bring together the general public, cancer survivors, cancer
00:35fighters, cancer caretakers and medical professionals to raise awareness and fight cancer.
00:48The Relay will start at 7am on August 24 at Titiwangsa Lake Gardens in Kuala Lumpur, ending
00:54at 7pm in Seremban with 46 checkpoints.
00:59The second leg will cover 98 kilometres from Seremban to Melaka, concluding at Manipal
01:04University College.
01:06Participants will each run between 1 and 7 kilometres through rural areas, towns and
01:11cities, allowing the public to join along the route.
