DICT, ARTA collaborating to widen reach of free WiFi program

Transcript
00:00The Department of Information and Communications Technology, or DICT, and the Anti-Red Tape
00:05Authority, or ARTA, are working hand-in-hand to improve the country's connectivity.
00:10This can be achieved through the free Wi-Fi program spearheaded by the DICT.
00:16For their part, ARTA has issued the Implementing Rules and Regulations, or IRR, for President
00:22Fernando R. Marcos Jr.'s Executive Order 32, Series of 2023, which aims to expedite the
00:28processes for the building of telecommunications and internet infrastructures in the country.
00:34DICT Director for Edward Padre clarified the program for the Wi-Fi for Government Offices
00:40is different from that of the free Wi-Fi access for the public.
00:44Before the rollout of the DICT National Broadband Program, LGU and NGA already subscribed to
00:53private subscriptions.
00:55The DICT does not control whether NGA or LGU will provide Wi-Fi that is not accessible
01:02to the general public.
01:04The administrator of the public Wi-Fi access point is either in the agency or in LGU.
01:14But what DICT gave to NGA and LGU is really open to the general public.
