00:00The Department of Health or DOH reported a rise in dengue cases to 25 percent in August.
00:06From August 4 to 17, dengue cases surged to over 36,000 from the 29,000 cases recorded on July 21
00:14to August 3. The DOH urges the public to beef up efforts to eliminate mosquitoes,
00:21especially during the rainy season. The DOH noted all regions except Mimaropa, Bicol,
00:28Zamboanga Peninsula, and Barm have more cases from the recent reported dates.
00:33More than 208,000 cases have been reported since the start of the year,
00:38and this is 68 percent higher than the cases during the same period last year.
00:45There have been 546 deaths with a lower case fatality rate compared to last year.
00:51This improvement may be due to better health practices and case management.
