00:00Turning to commitment 2024 coverage this morning. The November general
00:03elections in Wisconsin are now set. Primary election results coming in
00:06overnight and they're scrolling at the bottom of your screen. Voters rejected
00:10to state constitutional amendments. The first as voters whether to prohibit the
00:14legislature from giving up its power to spend money. That question failed with
00:1857% of voters saying no. The second as voters to require legislative approval
00:23for the governor to spend federal money that also failed with 58% of voters
00:28saying no. Those amendments were proposed by the Republican held
00:31legislature during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wisconsin received billions
00:35of dollars in federal funding. Governor Tony Evers had the power to spend that
00:39money as he saw fit a power that Wisconsin governors have had since the
00:4219 thirties. A little more than 32% of registered voters in Milwaukee County
00:47voted, which the Milwaukee County clerk says is a typical turnout for the
00:51august primary. This morning, eric hubby is officially the republican
00:55candidate for U. S. Senate, overwhelmingly defeating his primary
00:58challengers with 86% of the vote. He'll face off against incumbent democrat
01:03Senator Tammy Baldwin in November in the congressional race to replace Mike
01:08Gallagher, who left office earlier this year. Political newcomer Tony Weed,
01:12backed by former President Donald Trump, won the republican primary in the
01:15eighth congressional district. That district represents the Green Bay area.
01:20Some 700 voters in Douglas County voted on the wrong ballot yesterday. Ballots
01:25printed in the town of Summit included the wrong assembly district. It listed
01:29these two democratic challengers instead of the two republicans that
01:33voters should have been deciding between. The misprinted ballots
01:36continued going out until polls closed last night. We asked the head of the
01:39Wisconsin Elections Commission about what happens now.
01:44There, of course, you know, could be legal avenues that come into play. If
01:48this were to be litigated or if somebody were to file some type of
01:51sworn complaint before the commission, then that's where the commission's
01:55authority would kick in to be able to weigh in on these processes. But until
01:59or unless that happens at this time, this is a local a local decision.
02:06Again, all of the results are scrolling on the bottom of your screen. They'll
02:09continue to do so throughout the hour. You can also find them right now on the
02:1212 News app.
