Ridley Scott's involvement with 'Alien: Romulus' explained

Writer, director and executive producer  of the new sequel, ‘Alien: Romulus’ Fede Álvarez discusses how he collaborated with Ridley Scott for the seventh instalment in the ‘Alien’ franchise. 00:08Did he give you free reign to make the alien movie that you want to do? What were you seeking him for advice?

00:14He didn't he did not I think I I don't want free range to make it

00:18I don't think I want free range to make any movie

00:22Ideally you want a producer in a studio that have strong point of view and definitely a producer that has strong point of view of

00:27The movie should be and I have a I'm very stubborn with my point of view as well

00:32And that's a fun collaboration with someone you can really go at it and discuss and and and debate

00:38What the best movie can be and and and in that debate you find the truth of what the movie should be

00:43I think I mean some of the best movies ever made were never made in the context of doing whatever you want

00:49Ask any director that made a great film. They always gotta tell you it was it was a struggle with a studio

00:55That's a good thing that's what you want in this case

00:57It was a lot of debate among us and we all love the movies equally and I think out of that

01:04That back and forth comes out something that I feel is true special
