PhilHealth board, sinimulan nang talakayin ang mungkahi na bawasan ang premium contribution
Transcript
00:00The PhilHealth Board has already started talking about a reduction in the premium monthly contribution of members.
00:08Is this possible? Let's find out in the story of Noel Talacay.
00:13PhilHealth is a big help to Patricia, especially when her mother was sick and in the hospital.
00:21My parents tried it because she had glaucoma surgery. So there is a reduction.
00:27So even if PhilHealth is reducing the premium contribution, it's okay for her as long as it won't increase or increase in the coming time.
00:39Maybe it's okay for now. If they increase it, I won't be okay because the other contributions are already high.
00:47Patricia is just one of the thousands of workers who are reducing their salary for their premium contribution.
00:56At present, more than 66,600 direct members or those who pay for PhilHealth contributions.
01:04According to the latest health insurance of the country, they will benefit if their monthly premium contribution is reduced.
01:16Some announced by PhilHealth that they will appeal to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to reduce the monthly premium contribution of their direct members.
01:28But it seems that Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa has lost his mind.
01:34I don't know also of the mechanism to decrease it. I don't know if there is a law or if there is a ruling.
01:42I don't know what the hell the President Lidezma is talking about. He will recommend to the board. I don't know if that's legal.
01:49In an interview of PTV News with Dr. Israel Francis A. Pargas, Senior Vice President for Health Finance Policy Sector and spokesperson of PhilHealth,
02:02the PhilHealth board discussed how they will reduce the premium contribution.
02:08One of the things they are looking at is the reduction in the percentage and salary ceiling.
02:14We are looking at how we will propose a reduction, how big the reduction will be with regards to the percentage.
02:22We are also looking at how we will replace or reduce the ceiling of our salary, where our premium contribution is computed.
02:39But when asked if this is possible, this is his answer.
02:44What we really need to ensure that this will be implemented is to amend the law.
02:51There is an executive order or there is an order coming from the executive that you will suspend the increase of the law.
03:00For Secretary Herbosa, I have never heard PhilHealth decrease its premium payments.
03:09According to PhilHealth, more of their members are paying monthly compared to those who are not paying.
03:17So if the reduction in the premium monthly contribution continues, the country's health insurance will ensure that their services and benefits will not be affected.
