Mga naganap sa awarding ceremony ng Sinebata 2024
Transcript
00:00This morning, we will discuss the recent Cinebata Awarding Ceremony,
00:05as well as the preparations for the upcoming Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children
00:10and other important activities of ANAK-TV.
00:14And to give us more information about that,
00:17we will be joined by a very special guest, Ms. Elvira Yapgo,
00:22the current President of ANAK-TV and Founding Chairperson of Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children.
00:28Good morning! Welcome to Surrey Central in the Philippines.
00:31I think I'm getting tired here.
00:33Anyway, I'm so happy that rain or shine, the show must go on, right?
00:39That's why I know that...
00:41Thank you so much for inviting me again to tell you also what we are doing.
00:46What is ANAK-TV doing, especially Cinebata?
00:49Because you know, these are the work done by children aged 17 below.
00:55So, there's a category from 10 to 12, 13 to 15, and then 15 to 17.
01:02What we did in order to get the attention of these children,
01:07we really go around here in the Philippines.
01:11Those universities, school, colleges that joined us in media literacy,
01:18that's the first step.
01:19Media literacy, those who join with us,
01:23there are parents, teachers, students.
01:26So, they have an awareness that the programs that are broadcast on television
01:33need the attention of the parents because not all of them are accommodating to the children, right?
01:40So, for those who really join and participate,
01:44we train them, we told them to send five children with this age level.
01:51We will train them so that the winner will go to Southeast Asia Video Festival in Kuala Lumpur.
01:59This will be the fourth.
02:01The winning children, depending on the category,
02:04but we will only send two entries per category and one child representing Philippines.
02:12Because this child that we will send,
02:15she needs to be an articulate, she's the one who knows what is going on,
02:21and she will be able to make friends because our theme this year is friendship in diversity.
02:27So, she needs to meet the other nine ASEAN countries so they can make friends.
02:33And then, since it was done in, let's say, Kuala Lumpur,
02:39the audience of the video workshop, the children will also have a workshop.
02:44They will join by the Malaysian kids and also international students.
02:50So, those are the children that we train.
02:54Now, these ASEAN countries, you know, they greet the Filipinos because they are very good.
03:00And even, you know, like in Myanmar, in Malaysia, you know, in Indonesia.
03:06You know, the government officials here, like Indonesia Ministry of Education,
03:12they are the ones who supported the venue.
03:14It was done in the hotel of our governing board.
03:18And then, when they saw it, they said,
03:20this is done by the children, they saw it, right?
03:2310 to 12, they were very articulate.
03:25They said, the project is really good.
03:28Because what we see, I'm sure you will admit,
03:31the words that come out of your mouth,
03:34let's do something for the youth.
03:37But you don't hear anything, let's do something for the children, right?
03:42So, what we did, we focused on the Gen Alpha,
03:46which is the upcoming generation, which is 17 below, from 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.
03:53They have the ability, very articulate, very confident, very courageous.
03:59We were very surprised.
04:00We said, not only to the Filipinos, but more so to ASEAN.
04:05They were trained to be a future leader.
04:08What we say, Gen Alpha, these are the children we should mold.
04:14Because we allow them to speak up.
04:17We were not used to it when we were young.
04:19Oh, you're still a child, don't you know?
04:22Get out, this is adult talk.
04:24No longer.
04:25What we do is, you're smart, you have knowledge, you're very smart.
04:31And your world, your world is different from ours.
04:36Speak up.
04:38Let us know what is happening to your world.
04:41To remind the parents, something is going on.
04:44They need to be there for their children, right?
04:47So, what we did, we unleashed the potential of the children.
04:53We were not embarrassed, because we were really surprised.
04:57In Indonesia, the budget director who gave support, when he attended,
05:02he was very enthusiastic.
05:03He said, let's do it again.
05:05I said, yes, we will do it, but it should be Malaysians and Indonesians who should do it.
05:11Here in Indonesia, the Minister of Communication, through PINAS,
05:16the Film Development of Malaysia, when they attended,
05:20the chairman and the CEO were able to witness.
05:24He said, what are the students doing?
05:27So now, they are talking about supporting the program,
05:31because, surprisingly, we only allow 25 students because it's hard to train.
05:38Imagine, it's a two-day workshop.
05:40They will listen to our amazing mentor from ABS-CBN,
05:46Nico Hernandez, he's the director, and Danny Sevilla of Knowledge Channel.
05:51They are amazing.
05:53They unleashed the teamwork.
05:55It's important when you do a project, you need to have teamwork to become successful.
06:01Then, they asked how to handle the iPhone and iPad.
06:06How will you shoot?
06:07So, within one hour, on the first day, tell us a story.
06:13They were given an hour.
06:15The five of you in a group, talk about your story.
06:19Then, after one hour, we will go around.
06:23Look for the site where you will shoot.
06:27Wow, that's amazing.
06:29Then, the next day, you will come back.
06:33It's a three-hour shooting.
06:34If you choose this studio, you need to bring your story and props.
06:40It's three hours.
06:41When you come back for lunch, you will see a video poster.
06:46It's very professional.
06:48It's done in one hour.
06:50Because they have to sell their story.
06:53Then, they will show and edit.
06:57They were taught how to edit.
07:10That's why they are threats.
07:12But what we are saying is,
07:15Yes, we will listen to you.
07:17Tell us the story.
07:18But you have also to listen to us.
07:21Because we have the wisdom.
07:23We have the experience.
07:24We will guide them.
07:26So, these kids, because they speak the truth.
07:29They were so honest.
07:31Sometimes, you will be surprised with their mindset.
07:35But their story came from the experience among their friends in the school.
07:40They are their witnesses.
07:41You know, in five groups, they all talk about bullying.
07:44That's why the chairman CEO who witnessed that said,
07:49Let's talk to the Ministry of Communication.
07:53Let's support cyberbullying.
07:55Their program will be there.
07:58So, without the children telling us, they don't know,
08:01Vietnam was also like that.
08:03They also talk about bullying.
08:06Vietnam is big.
08:07Because it's beautiful in Vietnam.
08:08Which I hope, PTB, through this program, Ren or Shine,
08:13they will have many programs for the kids.
08:18Vietnam is dedicated.
08:20We call them PTB 7.
08:23All of them are children's programs.
08:25Animation, arts, culture, science.
08:30We will see documentation.
08:33And they have 6 million Facebook followers.
08:37So, these kids, you can really see it.
08:40They were so articulate.
08:43I said, like in Vietnam,
08:45How did you know that there is a video workshop here on television through Facebook?
08:50And the influencer there, who is a very young lady, 24,
08:54she will be one of our...
08:56Online is the trend, right?
08:59Digital.
09:00So, this influencer, I saw her as a rock star.
09:03When she came to give inspirational talk to Vietnamese children,
09:09Wow, she's really like an artist.
09:11Pictures here, pictures there.
09:13There are also signatures, messages.
09:16And she speaks 6 languages at the age of 24.
09:20You know, they said, she works as a host like you,
09:24in the children's show of Vietnam Television.
09:28And within 6 years, she already bought a house for the mother.
09:32And she's so pleasant.
09:34She said, what you need to do,
09:36she reminds the children,
09:38Be consistent.
09:39There should be consistency in what you believe.
09:43And then there should be values.
09:45It's important to have values.
09:47So, when we go around,
09:49when we go to Thailand, Indonesia,
09:52I see that we are like brothers.
09:55We have so much in common.
09:57Malaysian, Thailand,
09:59our fellow countrymen,
10:02Indonesia.
10:03So, we have more in common.
10:05That's why we should strengthen the Southeast Asia Video Festival for Children
10:10because these children,
10:12we need to nurture them to what we want.
10:16And what we saw in Asia,
10:18was really love for the family.
10:21Very strong.
10:22Whether you're Buddhist, Catholic, Muslim, Christian,
10:26all of them need their parents.
10:29The parents need to spend quality time with them.
10:33You know, what the child needs is a hug.
10:36A hug.
10:37Because we saw that when the parents are happy,
10:41the parents are here.
10:43So, the relationship between the parents and the child is very important.
10:47Don't use them for cyberbullying or sexual abuse.
10:51Because your child has potential.
10:55That's without your knowing it, right?
10:57Then, you will see the respect for the elders.
11:02The grandparents are there.
11:05They are still living there.
11:07Then, you will see love for the country.
11:09In spite of whatever kind of government you have,
11:12let's respect it.
11:14We shouldn't fight.
11:16We are training the children,
11:18this generation, to be the ambassadors of peace.
11:22Even if you have different beliefs,
11:26your government is different,
11:28remember, we are all friends.
11:31That's why our theme is friendship is diversity.
11:35Then, we can see among us CM,
11:38don't let the children be involved in politics.
11:42Don't do that.
11:43Because when we push them,
11:45we should give them,
11:47motivate them to have a brighter horizon.
11:50There are a lot of threats now.
11:52Let them be.
11:54Don't play games.
11:56Don't be afraid of AI.
11:58It's more important for you to show that you are good
12:03so that you can get a job.
12:05If you are lazy,
12:07you don't take your life seriously.
12:09AI will replace you.
12:12So, these are the things that we are reminding.
12:16In Myanmar, next year, it will be Myanmar.
12:19We need to help the people of Myanmar.
12:23Because the people are the ones who suffer.
12:26Whatever is the kind of government,
12:29the government also cares.
12:31We had a very nice meeting with the Minister of Information.
12:35He is an old man.
12:37When he said that they are doing a project for the youth,
12:41I said, Your Excellency,
12:43let's not talk about youth.
12:45Let's talk about children under 17.
12:48So, we were telling them what we do.
12:50I said, Do you want to talk about it next year?
12:53They said, Yes.
12:55It will be Myanmar.
12:57So, we want to help the Myanmar people
12:59to have an international event
13:02that should not be condemned
13:04because children should not get involved in politics.
13:07Then, the government's vision was really the same.
13:14They also care about their children.
13:17Some of them are not perfect.
13:20So, what we want is to reach out to them.
13:24Let the Myanmar children also realize
13:27that they have friends.
13:29They are not alone.
13:31So, our mission here is
13:33to strengthen our relationship with one another
13:36and using the children to cry out for peace.
13:39Look at the war in Gaza.
13:42Who are the ones suffering?
13:44The parents and the children.
13:47So, that is what we will avoid.
13:49For me, I believe that our experience in the Vietnam War
13:53and the genocide in Cambodia,
13:55it has to stop.
13:56Now, let's show the beautiful world of ASEAN.
14:00We need to show that our world,
14:04we base it on our own tradition,
14:06our own culture.
14:08Let's not imitate the Western culture.
14:11We are not like that.
14:13What is being taught to us,
14:15yes, we will also say that
14:17in the name of democracy,
14:19sometimes too much freedom is not good.
14:21The guidance of the parents is still needed.
14:25So, this is the most important thing.
14:28What I would advise really is
14:31parents should pay attention
14:34to the voice of their children.
14:36Now, talking about the children,
14:39we have ten categories.
14:42Ten categories from those done by children.
14:45And six categories come from different networks.
14:48This professional level
14:50are those programs that have children.
14:53That is why the PTB Board will dedicate also
14:57children's programs
14:59so that they can join the government next year.
15:01Because the government is involved, right?
15:03Since it is a new Philippines,
15:05why not create a program
15:07that uses these children,
15:09these new Filipino children
15:12from 70 and below,
15:14train them.
15:15They have potential.
15:17Unleash the best in them.
15:19And let them be the light of the world.
15:21Why don't you have programs
15:23that have children here?
15:25We have new programs.
15:27That's good.
15:29Now, maybe, we got a lot of thoughts
15:31from what Ma'am Elvira said
15:33that it's good to have a platform
15:35for children to do training and workshop.
15:37So that they can have a collaboration
15:39with our neighbors here in the ASEAN region.
15:41Maybe, Audrey.
15:43These children who are participating in ASEAN,
15:47how will they use it
15:49to inspire more youth?
15:51So that more people will be
15:53vivo, creative,
15:55and imaginative in what they will do.
15:57You know, first of all,
15:59we need the support of the television network.
16:01To broadcast the programs
16:03about children and what children do.
16:06Let the children be involved
16:08in the children's programs.
16:10Let them be hosts, writers.
16:12You know, there's potential.
16:14When it comes to children,
16:16they are the ones who understand.
16:18Right?
16:20And then we go out,
16:22reaching out to the universities.
16:24These schools.
16:26Like for example, one good news,
16:28they watched on Facebook
16:30about what ANAK-TV is doing.
16:32So the regional director
16:34of Quezon City
16:36is asking to collaborate with us
16:38to train the children.
16:40And I think this is already
16:42another success.
16:44We are reaching out
16:46even to the government.
16:48Education plays a very important role
16:50for the children.
16:52At least, the teachers
16:54who are inside the classroom
16:56will have a problem.
16:58Because sometimes, the children are ashamed.
17:00They are afraid.
17:02They can't draw it.
17:04They can't tell a story by writing.
17:06They can't draw it.
17:08What ANAK-TV is doing,
17:10we are giving the children
17:12an opportunity
17:14to express themselves.
17:16And for the parents and teacher
17:18and the authority to understand
17:20the world now
17:22of the children are quite different.
17:24They need attention.
17:26They need love. They need care.
17:28For them, the future leaders,
17:30they will grow up
17:32in a very, very
17:34moral environment
17:36that is very responsible.
17:38Because they know that
17:40when a child is full of evil,
17:42he won't think of evil.
17:44He won't be addicted to drugs.
17:46He won't be addicted to drugs.
17:48Why do we have this problem?
17:50You know, after COVID,
17:52there's a lot of depression.
17:54But these children
17:56should not be involved with that.
17:58So we are doing
18:00everything to bring the best
18:02in the children.
18:04Thank you for your initiatives and advocacy
18:06that is a big help to the children.
18:08Rest assured that you will
18:10support ANAK-TV.
18:12Thank you very much,
18:14Ma'am Elvira Yapgo.
18:16I hope I can send a message to the government,
18:18to the students,
18:20and to the universities.
18:22Children are full of potential.
18:24They will be the light of the world.
18:26Speak up, listen to them,
18:28and let us do something for them.
18:30We need teamwork.
18:32Let's help each other.
18:34This is their time.
18:36We need to encourage them
18:38to do what you have.
18:40We will listen to you.
18:42We will help you.
18:44Trust should be there
18:46between adults and children.
18:48That's all.
18:50Thank you again for giving us your time.
18:52More power to ANAK-TV, Ma'am Elvira Yapgo.
18:54Thank you very much.
