00:13Filipino Olympian pole vaulter EJ Obiena's rank went down to 3rd place in the last World Athletics Men's Pole Vault Rankings.
00:23From being World No. 2 in July 2023, EJ climbed to 3rd place with an average performance score of 1,428,
00:32followed by a 4th place finish after the 2024 Paris Olympics.
00:37World record holder Arman Duplantis remained in the top spot with a total score of 1,617,
00:44while American Sam Kendricks, who won a silver medal in the Olympics, replaced EJ with a score of 1,450.
00:53From the top 8, Emanuel Karalis, a Paris Olympics bronze medalist from Greece, climbed to 4th place.
01:00This is where the 28-year-old athlete returned to the Philippines along with other athletes
01:05such as Paris Olympics two-time gold medalist Carlos Yulo and bronze medalist Este Petesho.
01:11Obiena also received incentives such as Php 1 million from President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr.,
01:18Php 1 million from the Chinese community, and Php 500,000 from the government of Manila.
01:24In Obiena's social media post, he thanked the Filipinos for their warm welcome and for their support to him.
01:31For now, EJ will continue his training as he prepares for the Diamond League Luzon
01:36that will be held in Switzerland on August 22.
