00:00At the same time as the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Singapore,
00:06where more than 200,000 Filipinos are working and living,
00:10is the three-day state visit of the Singaporean President, Tarman Sharmugarapna.
00:14The Singaporean President is accompanied by his wife, Jane Yumiko Itohi,
00:18who was accompanied by President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos.
00:23The bilateral meeting of the two leaders has not yet become commonplace
00:26because after their pre-emptive talks on cooperation and strengthening relations,
00:31the two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo went to talk about the success of the last Olympics.
00:57Yes, we are very, very proud.
00:59Tonight, the two leaders formally agreed on the implementation of regulations
01:03on the recruitment of healthcare workers and the care for their health.
01:07There was also a memorandum on giving incentives to industries
01:10to reduce their carbon footprints and take care of the environment.
01:14Several more agreements were made between private companies and NGOs in Singapore
01:20and local governments in the Philippines.
01:22Again, the two leaders mentioned their shared position on the South China Sea.
01:27As geographical neighbors in Southeast Asia,
01:30the South China Sea and the West Philippine Sea hold great importance to both our countries.
01:35So we look forward to the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to maintain
01:40and to promote peace, security, and stability in the region,
01:44as well as our strong support for the peaceful resolution of any such disputes.
01:50The South China Sea is an extremely important issue.
01:52Singapore's position, of course, is well known.
01:55We have consistently upheld the rights of all states to freedom of navigation and overflight
02:02and strongly supported the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with international law,
02:10including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, or UNCLOS.
02:16A state banquet is being prepared for the Singapore delegation,
02:19which also includes some businessmen.
02:21Earlier, the Singaporean President led the wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal Monument.
02:26Several bridges will be erected in the coming days,
02:28and he will also visit several research institutions here in the Philippines.
