00:00Diplomatic protests in the midst of China's harassment incidents in the West Philippine Sea are no longer enough, according to President Bongbong Marcos.
00:10China's Coast Guard's monster ship that has been circling our Exclusive Economic Zone for a few days is now heading back to China.
00:19J.P. Sorian is a witness.
00:22Within 10 days, using the Dark Vessel Detection Technology from Canada, the Philippine Coast Guard tracked the movement of China's largest coast guard ship, the CCG 5901.
00:37According to the PCG, it left Hainan, China on June 17. It passed through Parola and Pagasa Island on June 19.
00:47It stayed overnight on Zamora Reef.
00:50On June 20, it entered Kagitingan Reef where China has an artificial island.
00:57It is possible that it resupplied there before entering the Exclusive Economic Zones of Malaysia and Brunei.
01:04It sailed north and entered the EEZ of the Philippines again.
01:10It passed through Rizal Reef and supplied stocks in Panganiban Reef on June 23.
01:16Also in Lawak and Patag Island and Escoda Shoal the next day.
01:21At the point of departure of the monster ship, it is only 30 nautical miles away from El Nido, Palawan.
01:31From there, it sailed to Bajo de Macinlo, or Panatag Shoal, where it joined the other three ships of the China Coast Guard that are deployed in the area.
01:41It also spent several hours in Panatag Shoal before returning to China.
01:46This is the first time that it circled our maritime features.
01:52What the People's Republic of China really wants to do is to challenge our territorial sovereignty over those waters.
02:01According to the PCG, one of the ships that passed through Ayungin Shoal is where the China Coast Guard and the Philippine Navy had a confrontation.
02:15Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin III discussed what happened in Ayungin on June 17.
02:25America's continued support for the sovereign rights of the Philippines.
02:30The U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines called for an end to China's harassment of Philippine ships and unenlightened interference in the freedom of navigation of other countries.
02:43The Chinese Embassy also denied the U.S. interference, saying that it was hyping tensions for its own interests.
02:52China also believes in dialogue and consultation and is ready to coordinate with ASEAN countries.
02:59The DFA already held a diplomatic protest regarding what happened in Ayungin Shoal on June 17.
03:06More than 100 protests were held by the Marcos Administration in various incidents of harassment.
03:15But President Bongbong Marcos' response seemed to be not enough.
03:19We will call the Ambassador and tell him that this is our position and we don't want this to happen.
03:25And that's it. But we have to do more than that.
03:28The President said that he talked to the AFP Western Command after the Executive Secretary mentioned that there could be a misunderstanding or a possible accident.
03:40Because at first, we were just looking at the data. Maybe there was a mistake.
03:46But when I went to the WESCOM, I asked what really happened.
03:50It was clear that it was not a misunderstanding. We really went there to block our resupply.
03:58But the President insisted that it was not yet an armed attack.
04:03This is an important point because it is a requirement to invoke the Mutual Defense Treaty of the Philippines and America.
04:11It's not armed. No one fired.
04:14We were not being shot.
04:17But it was a deliberate. They boarded a Philippine vessel and took the equipment from the Philippine vessel.
04:27It is essentially an illegal action that was taken by the Chinese forces.
04:32For GMA Integrated News, I'm JP Soriano, your witness.
