00:00Gordon is big and blue, and the fastest engine on all of Sodor.
00:09He loves pulling the express.
00:13Gordon thinks it makes him the most important engine on the island.
00:21One day, Gordon was pulling the express out of Brendam Docks.
00:26But Diesel was on the same line.
00:30Out of my way, sniffed Gordon. Express train coming through.
00:36Diesel had to back off. This made him cross.
00:41You steamies are old and clapped out, he sneered.
00:46When the Fat Controller realises this, you'll all be scrapped.
00:51Scrapped? Scoffed Gordon.
00:54Pah, I'm as fast as I ever was.
00:57And he chuffed proudly out of the docks.
01:08Gordon was speeding through the beautiful countryside.
01:11He was having a wonderful day.
01:15But then he heard a horrible squeaking noise.
01:19Gordon was upset.
01:21Squeaking could only mean one thing. Something was wrong.
01:29What if Diesel's right? he thought.
01:32What if the Fat Controller scraps me?
01:41Gordon squeaked sadly up the hill.
01:46The hill was steep and Gordon had to slow down.
01:51The slower he went, the quieter the squeak became.

02:05And he chuffed slowly back to Tidmouth Sheds.
02:15That evening, the Fat Controller came to see Gordon.
02:19Tomorrow is a very special day, he said.
02:22I am taking some village children on a boat trip.
02:26You, Gordon, are to take us to Brendam Docks.
02:29The boat leaves at nine o'clock, so you must not be late.
02:35The next morning, Gordon waited for everyone to go.
02:40Then he puffed slowly away so no one would hear his squeak.
02:50Once out of the sheds, he started to pick up speed.
02:55His pistons pumped and his wheels spun, and he began to squeak again.
03:02Oh my! said Gordon.
03:06Then he heard something even worse.
03:08It was a rattle.
03:10Oh dear! Oh dear! he cried.
03:13Diesel was right. I am falling apart.
03:16What will the Fat Controller say?
03:19So Gordon slowed down.
03:29Gordon crawled slowly into the station to collect the children.
03:37Gordon's boiler sank.
03:39If he went slowly, the children would miss their boat trip.
03:45But if he went quickly, the Fat Controller would hear his squeak and his rattle.
03:52He'd know Gordon was wearing out and send him to the scrapyard.
03:58With the children safely on board, Gordon pulled slowly out of the station.
04:07Gordon chuffed slowly through the countryside.
04:11He thought things were going well.
04:16But the Fat Controller was very cross.
04:19He spoke sternly to Gordon.
04:21What are you playing at, Gordon? he boomed.
04:24You must go quickly, or the children will miss the boat, and that will never do.

04:56His wheels turned faster, his pistons pumped harder.
05:00Must be on time, must be on time, he boomed.
05:08Soon he began to squeak and rattle too.
05:12Then he heard another noise.
05:16A knocking noise.
05:19But Gordon didn't care.
05:21If this was his last trip, he was going to go as fast as he possibly could.
05:30Gordon squeaked and rattled and knocked all the way to Brendan Docks.
05:37Salty and Henry were surprised.
05:39They had never heard an engine make such awful noises.
05:43Sounds like another steamy ready for the scrapyard, sneered Diesel.
05:48But Gordon didn't care about Diesel.
05:51He had made good time and the children would catch their boat.
05:55I made it, he cried proudly.
05:59Thank you, Gordon, shouted the children happily.
06:03I knew you could do it, said the Fat Controller, but why haven't you been to the repair yard?
06:10The repair yard, gasped Gordon.
06:13You have been making lots of noises, said the Fat Controller.
06:17You need to have your engine looked at.
06:20So you're not going to scrap me, asked Gordon.
06:24Scrap Gordon, boomed the Fat Controller.
06:26The fastest engine on Sodor.
06:29Who would pull the express?
06:31Gordon beamed with pride.
06:37Gordon spent the next day having his pistons polished, his axles greased and his wheels well and truly oiled.
06:46At last he didn't make any more funny noises.
06:49Gordon was as good as new.
06:53And he felt even better.
