00:00Welcome back everyone.
00:08It is Amelia.
00:09I hope you are fine.
00:11Damon's scenes in House of the Dragon season 2 have allowed for some notable character
00:15returns with one cameo in episode 6 seeming to finally conclude this arc.
00:20Much of Damon's season 2 narrative is original to the show, with his visions allowing for
00:24old House of the Dragon cast members like Millie Alcock, young Rhaenyra, and Nanna Blondell,
00:30Lena Velaryon to reprise their roles from season 1.
00:34Episode 6 had its most significant cameo yet, with Paddy Considine returning to the role
00:39of King Vysa's eye Targaryen.
00:41Damon's season 2 arc followed up a major blow up with Rhaenyra, where she grilled him for
00:46his role in the Blood and Cheese assassination and then some.
00:49Rhaenyra strikes a nerve by stating that Vysa is never trusted Damon to be his heir,
00:55and his visions throughout the season explore his internal reaction to this insult.
01:00The ending of season 2, episode 6, seems to imply that Damon is finally moving on from
01:05this narrative in Harrenhal, meaning that the Vysa's scenes have drastic implications
01:10for his story going forward.
01:12Damon's first vision in episode 6 may seem familiar to television audiences, as it recounts
01:18a pivotal scene from the House of the Dragon season 1 premiere when Vysa's informs Damon
01:23that he's selected Rhaenyra as his heir over him.
01:26Vysa's son died shortly after childbirth, causing Damon to refer to the boy as heir
01:31for a day, which the King takes as a grave insult, in turn banishing Damon to the Vale
01:36to live with his then-wife.
01:38This throne room scene has highly dramatic consequences in season 1, and season 2 shows
01:43how much it affected Damon.
01:45Much of Damon's House of the Dragon narrative explores his relationship with King Vysa's.
01:51Damon has complicated feelings of inferiority to his older brother, and this pivotal moment
01:55saw Vysa's fully pushing him away for his actions.
01:59Damon doesn't demonstrate much regret in the moment, but the vision implies he's deeply
02:04remorseful for his actions during this time.
02:06In the vision, he's physically trapped in the Iron Throne room with his brother, forced
02:11to emotionally respond to the words he said years prior and how they affected his brother,
02:16who only ever looked out for him.
02:18Damon's second vision in season 2, episode 6, is an entirely original scene where he
02:23stands by King Vysa's, who mourns the loss of his wife, Emma Arryn.
02:27Emma died giving birth to Vysa's child, and this is a major turning point for the late
02:32King, whose health begins to descend after he feels he's lost his humanity after his
02:38wife's death.
02:39This vision is a construct from Damon's mind, further enforcing the regret from the first
02:43vision.
02:44Rather than going behind Vysa's back and touting his own claim, Damon shows up to support Vysa's
02:50in a time of need.
02:51Of course, this isn't what happened in the real House of the Dragon timeline.
02:55Instead, it shows what Damon wishes he would have done retrospectively.
02:59Had Damon lent his brother his strength in this time of need, the two could have lived
03:03a much happier and maybe even a longer life together.
03:06Damon blames himself for everything that happened between them and for everything that
03:11happened to Vysa's, feeling that he left his brother alone because of his own selfishness
03:16and immaturity.
