00:00It's time to continue with the letter N, the New York Giants.
00:08Now let me tell you something, I've lived in New York my entire life and I think this
00:12season is going to be riots, it's going to be fights, and I'm not talking about the political
00:17landscape, I'm just talking just right in Jersey alone because I think the Giants are
00:20trending downward, I think the Jets are trending upward, it's going to be rough.
00:24Let's talk Giants first, Joe.
00:26Yeah, the New York Giants.
00:29You see Daniel Jones with a new beard, but I don't think it's going to hide the bad quarterback
00:33play.
00:34Yesterday, instead of taking a sack for safety and giving up two points, he chucked a ball
00:39in the air, threw a pick, and it was six points.
00:43And I think that's what it comes down to, I think people tend to forget with Daniel
00:47Jones too, there's always this cockeyed optimism when it comes to the New York Giants because
00:52in the past they were an organization that had established themselves as a Super Bowl
00:56contender at certain times, with the Parcells era, and then even later on during Eli Manning's
01:01tenure with Tom Coughlin, it was an organization that's had some good moments over the last
01:0630, 40 years in our lifetime.
01:08Now, it's been a while since one of those good seasons, and hard knocks gave a lot of
01:13people a lot of, you know, the hard knocks offseason, we drafted Malik Nabors, he's going
01:17to be great, he might be great, but he can only be as good as your quarterback plays.
01:21And it's funny because I'm now on this weird situation where I have to somehow be the guy
01:25who used to defend Daniel Jones, say, I don't think he's as bad as everybody thinks he is,
01:29and now I'm the guy saying, I don't think he's as good as everybody says he is either,
01:32or thinks he's going to be this year.
01:34Daniel Jones, without Saquon Barkley, those numbers are stark.
01:40And I know you can make the argument and say, well, he didn't have a lot else to work with
01:43besides Saquon Barkley.
01:44My argument is, well, if you don't have a lot to work with without Saquon Barkley, what's
01:49going to happen this year when you don't have Saquon Barkley?
01:51Because you don't, you have Devin Singletary.
01:53So that's a big question I think we have to ask ourselves.
01:56What does Daniel Jones look like without that elite running back to take some pressure off
02:00of him?
02:01Yeah, Malik Neighbors is there.
02:02And if you look at the stats for Malik Neighbors in terms of projections, they look like six
02:06touchdowns, about 1,000 yards receiving, 80 catches.
02:09I think that sounds about right to me.
02:11I don't think this is the floor, though.
02:12I think this is kind of what you're going to get.
02:16Is he have the talent to go 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns?
02:20Of course he does.
02:21Does Daniel Jones have the way to get him there?
02:23And if it's not Daniel Jones or he gets hurt again, is it Drew Locke?
02:26There's a lot to unpack here if you're the Giants.
02:29So I know people love Malik Neighbors, but this is that perfect quintessential moment
02:34where you look at the offensive ecosystem, look at the quarterback play, look at the
02:36offensive line, look at the coaching, look at all those things coming together and say,
02:41why do I believe Malik Neighbors is better than wide receiver 20 or in that range where
02:44he's being drafted?
02:45And I don't think he is.
02:47I know some people think he is talent wise, and I would agree there.
02:49We're not talking about talent.
02:51We're talking about application.
02:52And I think that's where I struggle most here with the New York Giants.
02:55So I'm going to put it to you.
02:56What have you seen out of Daniel Jones and his career that makes you confident that now
03:00just because he's got an elite level talent wide receiver, that Daniel Jones can supply
03:06him with catchable balls in good situations where it turns into fantasy?
03:11Short answer is nothing because the first time teams double on Neighbors and Jones has
03:16to check down to Wandel Robinson and then Slayton, and you just see the panic.
03:20He's the only guy that I've ever seen where you can see panic through a football helmet.
03:24And that's Daniel Jones for me.
03:25So I'm with you a hundred percent.
03:27I think that Neighbors is good.
03:28But again, once you eliminate him from the equation, what's left?
