PCG, nanindigan na lehitimo ang deployment ng BRP Teresa Magbanua sa Escoda Shoal

00:10PCG Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, Commander Jay Tariella,

00:16followed the formal protest initiated by China.

00:19According to Tariella, the country has the right to deploy a ship to Escoda Shoal

00:24without asking permission from any country.

00:29This is because it is part of the EAZ established by UNCLOS, the 2016 Arbitral Award.

00:36China should also stop using the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea

00:44because even though it does not comply with the declaration,

00:49other countries are also violating it.

00:52Tariella also said that the deployment of a ship to the so-called territory

00:57is not to incite tension but to protect our territory from illegal activities

01:06that are damaging our marine environment, such as illegal poachers.
