Belarus vows to send illegal migrants into Europe
Belarus wont't stop migrants travelling to the EU anymore, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview to the Russian state TV channel 'Russia 24' that was aired on Tuesday (August 19).
"You have put a noose around my neck in the form of sanctions and demand that I protect the European Union from the influx of these migrants. It will not be like that. Let them go wherever they want. They are not staying with us. This is my policy," Lukashenko said.
Poland and the European Union have accused Belarus and Russia of trying to spread chaos since 2021 by pushing migrants over the frontier in what Warsaw calls a "hybrid war." Minsk and Moscow have dismissed the accusations.
