00:00STATE OF THE NATION
00:31A man who was thought to be dead and buried, suddenly returned home to his family.
00:37His family members were shocked when they were asked who they buried.
00:43Russell Simorio of GMA Regional TV has a report.
00:50After being buried for two nights, Eduardo Gilias Sr. returned home to Sual, Pangasinan, alive.
00:58I thought he was really dead because all of his feet were allergic.
01:05That's why I told him.
01:08On August 4, half of the man's body was found in the Burgos Basin.
01:12He was taken the next day and brought home by the Gilias family in the belief that it was Eduardo.
01:18Eduardo explained that he left home when he met his wife.
01:23They said, you were buried, why are you alive?
01:27I said, God gave me a chance.
01:30Although the Gilias family is happy, they are saddened by the cost of the body and the burial in the wrong bank.
01:36According to the Burgos Police, two families from Dasul, Pangasinan and Zambales are claiming the body.
01:43We got a spoon marrow sample, DNA sample of the body.
01:48We submitted it to our provincial forensic unit.
01:53The two possible claimants, they will subject them for DNA analysis.
01:59Russell Simorio of GMA Regional TV is reporting for GMA Integrated News.
02:07More than 30 places in Batangas were covered by a volcanic smog.
02:12Residents are complaining about the smell of the smog that affects their homes.
02:20As a precaution, face-to-face classes were suspended in some places,
02:25especially in villages surrounded by volcanoes.
02:28Because of the smog, face-to-face classes were suspended in all areas in Lubang, Occidental, Mindoro.
02:35Classes were also suspended in Metro Manila because of the low air quality.
02:41But according to FIVOX, the reason is not the smog, but local pollutants that are affected by the low air quality.
02:56Volcanic smog is harmful to health and can cause irritation to the eyes, lungs and respiratory tract, according to the Department of Health.
03:06Here is a tip-talk to protect your health from the dangers of volcanic smog.
03:12According to the DOH, avoid going out to reduce exposure to the smog.
03:16Close the doors and windows of your house so that the smog cannot enter.
03:21If you cannot avoid going out, wear a face mask.
03:25It is better to use N95 face masks.
03:28Drink plenty of water to reduce irritation to the lungs.
03:33Consult your doctor if you find it difficult to breathe or experience other adverse effects of the smog.
03:40According to Sandro Mulac, he was sexually harassed by independent contractors of the GMA Network, Richard Cruz and Jojo Nones.
03:50Cruz was drunk and was lying in bed when Sandro went to Nones' hotel room in Pasay.
03:57Nones gave Sandro a bottle of wine and was prescribed a drug.
04:02Then, he was taken to the hospital.
04:04Nones and Cruz denied the charges.
04:07They also did not allocate a donation to a charitable institution chosen by the Mulac family.
04:13The Senate President Pro Tempore, Gingoy Estrada,
04:17denied the charges because it is clear from the affidavit of the victim and the witness,
04:22GMA Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon Valdez.
04:26That's why Nones was contempted.
04:28Because of this, he was detained by the Senate.
04:32I will deduct all the charges using the P500 bill.
04:35Jojo ordered you to deduct the charges.
04:39Yes, Your Honor.
04:40You kept drinking wine until you got drunk.
04:44Did you feel weak?
04:46Yes, Your Honor.
04:48What did you feel when you were being watched by these two?
04:52Were you high?
04:55Were you weak?
04:57I was drunk, Your Honor.
04:58You lied down in the bed.
05:00Am I correct?
05:01I did not lie down.
05:03I was pulled from the bed.
05:04Who pulled you from the bed?
05:06Jojo Nones, Your Honor.
05:07That's not true.
05:10You did not have mercy on the child.
05:12You did everything to the child.
05:15Your Honor, with all due respect, please don't judge us.
05:18We are not yet convicted in the case.
05:21No, but you're lying.
05:22The case has just been filed.
05:23We are not lying, Your Honor.
05:24Why are you judging? You're lying.
05:25We're also just defending our side.
05:32Gerald Santos, the singer, was moved to tears
05:35when he was accused by the musical director of the contest he participated in
05:41in the GMA Network in 2005.
05:43Gerald filed a case in the GMA Network five years after the incident.
05:49The GMA suspended and removed the musical director.
05:53But Gerald said that he felt that his career was already affected.
05:57In the end, Gerald was released in the GMA Artist Center and moved to another network.
06:05The GMA Network is against all forms of abuse.
06:10In a statement, the GMA said that it does not allow any form of abuse
06:16to artists, personalities, employees, independent contractors, and other stakeholders.
06:23The action of the network was followed after it received the formal complaint of Gerald Santos in 2010.
06:31An investigation was immediately carried out,
06:34and after this, the network immediately implemented the proper punishment for the accusation.
06:40The GMA terminated the accusation contract,
06:43and he was not again hired or given a job after this.
06:48But the formal complaint filed by Gerald in 2010
06:53is different from his accusation of rape that he mentioned in the Senate.
06:58It is only now that the GMA Director is aware of this matter.
07:03The GMA also wants to clarify the statement of Gerald that he was removed from the network.
07:09He himself requested an early release from his management contract in 2010,
07:15which was given by the GMA.
07:17In the same year, he immediately went out to other TV networks.
07:21In addition, Gerald also tried to return to the GMA after his contract with TV5 in 2013.
07:30Senator Robin Padilla denied that he does not consent to the abuse by his wife.
07:37Padilla said in a statement on Facebook,
07:40he did not say that it is okay to force a woman to have an abortion,
07:44and he also believes that it is not right.
07:47His question is just a way to get information.
07:51The question can help in listening to the implementation,
07:55examination, or violation of the laws.
07:58Padilla asked last week in the Senate hearing about marital rape,
08:03regardless of what will be done if one is in heat with the other,
08:07but the other is not in the mood.
08:09Attorney Lorna Capunan explained to him,
08:12No means no.
08:14And there is considered rape if a married woman is forced to have an abortion.
08:21The wife of Vice President Sara Duterte,
08:24who is Attorney Manasseh Scarpio,
08:26was accused of embezzling Php 6.8 billion in shabu shipments in 2018.
08:32It is obvious that the allegations of the former Customs Intelligence Officer Jimmy Guban are baseless,
08:41in the hearing last Friday.
08:43He believes that the law-abiding politicians will find the motive in the allegations of Guban
08:50and his accomplice Congressman Paulo Duterte.
08:53He also argued that it was Guban himself who said that he was just doing his job
08:58in his statements in the affidavit submitted to the Senate Inquiry and Court of Proceedings.
09:06Some netizens called the Animal Kingdom Foundation
09:10for rescuing the white lion in Baluarte Zoo in Vigan, Ilocosur.
09:15The rescue of the zoo staff was not accepted in Leyong, Sikking,
09:20just like the effort to get a good picture.
09:26But AKF said that rescuing the lion is not an easy task because there is a process to follow.
09:33According to GMA Regional TV,
09:35the former Governor Chavit Singson, who owns the zoo,
09:38was fired from his job.
09:42He also condemned what happened.
09:45He ordered the retraining of all the staff of Baluarte Zoo.
09:56Algy Aguado, a 23-year-old account specialist,
09:58spends eight hours a day on the computer.
10:02Because of this, he experienced discomfort in his eyes.
10:12The 21-year-old, Jason Umali,
10:14aside from not having time to use his computer at work,
10:17he also spent five hours on his cell phone.
10:27Eye strain, according to an ophthalmologist.
10:32If you have a disease,
10:34a gadget or a digital device used per se,
10:37you just need to rest your eyes.
10:39Because if you focus on something for too long,
10:43your eyes will be strained.
10:45If that happens, dry eyes, blurred vision, tearing, foreign body sensation, etc.
10:52According to the study,
10:54looking at something for too long can lead to nearsightedness
10:59or blurred vision.
11:11According to Doc,
11:12do the 20-20-20 rule.
11:14This is looking at something for too long
11:16or 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.
11:20Eye strain should also be avoided.
11:22It is also good to have a healthy lifestyle
11:25like having increased outdoor activities,
11:28eating healthily, and regular eye check-up.
11:31Most of the eye diseases are not detectable until the late stages.
11:37That's why regular eye check-up is important,
11:39especially for people who are high risk,
11:42those who have a family history.
11:44Von Aquino reporting for GMA Integrated News.
11:48When you're strained,
11:51massage it.
11:54On spotlight, the Pulang Araw cast and crew.
11:57They joined the popular dance challenge.
12:06Dennis Trillo and Angelo De Leon were on point with the dance steps.
12:11But Hiroshi, a.k.a. David Licauco, who didn't join,
12:15joked that it was hard for them to teach.
12:18The production also showed their dancing skills
12:23in the Emergency Dance Craze that was held during a break.
12:31That's the State of the Nation.
12:32For a bigger mission, I'm Mackie Pulido.
12:35For a broader service to the country,
12:38I'm Sandra Aguinaldo,
