00:28In the Malacanang Insider program,
00:30Migrant Workers, Secretary Hans Leo Katdag said
00:33that since last year,
00:34they have been working with the Federal Agency
00:37of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
00:39to investigate the situation of the Filipinos there.
00:42We stand ready as directed by the President,
00:44not just there, but even here.
00:46We will receive them in a whole-of-government team
00:49designated by the President to do so.
00:51More than 11,000 Filipinos in Lebanon
00:54and most of them will be found in Beirut,
00:57Secretary Katdag also said that a group of Filipino workers
01:00from Lebanon is expected to return to the country this Sunday.
01:04We've been delivering free repatriation services
01:07and on-site monitoring for the protection of OFWs
01:11and in Lebanon, there have been around 356 returnees.
01:15In fact, there was a group of 15 who arrived over the weekend.
01:19But there is another group of 45
01:22that is set to arrive possibly later this week.
01:25They're now going through immigration authorities in Lebanon.
01:30Around a thousand had applied, but 45 said they are ready to go home.
01:55The President always, amongst government officials and agencies and with the private sector,
02:18has always emphasized that today's bilateral labor relations,
02:22especially with health care workers,
02:25should not just entail the rights-based approach
02:29in terms of protecting the rights of workers,
02:31but look at developmental, market development measures,
02:35such as ensuring that there will be no dearth of nurses here
02:40for our very own health care system,
02:42as we know from the COVID days, COVID years,
02:45that we really, really need health care workers.
02:48So there are measures to strengthen our labor market
02:51in terms of health care workers.
02:53That is why measures such as scholarships
02:56and measures such as partnerships between institutions.
02:59The government's campaign against illegal recruiters continues.
03:03Secretary Cacdac also has a message for Filipinos
03:06so that illegal recruiters will not be victims.
03:09First of all, it's basic that when one recruits online,
03:12there's already something wrong there
03:14because somebody is hiding under the shadows
03:17and would not want to be recognized
03:21or identified.
03:23A fairly common online illegal recruitment perpetrator
03:27would have a common name,
03:29a common name that is similar to thousands
03:31and hundreds of thousands.
03:33So it's very difficult to search for that person online.
03:37Another one is asking for money up front.
03:41It's a very, very distinct badge of illegal recruitment.
03:45The DMW also has a program
03:47to provide free training or skills training
03:50and job matching
03:51to OFWs returning home.
