00:27Where Filipinos, Japanese, and even Americans got involved in that war.
00:33As a Japanese woman, as a Japanese actor, how did you look at the whole project?
00:40That was very hard actually because when I first read the script and my role, I had mixed feelings of course.
00:51Because when it comes to history, it's really hard to repeat that because nobody wants to remember the bad things that they had to go through.
01:04In every country, it doesn't mean only in Japan or the Philippines, but then the drama itself is about, the main is about Philippines and in Japan.
01:13And then this time, the role, when I was reading it, I had an image that maybe a little bit, slightly, the Japanese were in the bad, in the role itself.
01:24So I was thinking, would I be able to act out as a good Japanese mother or would I be able to, I didn't want to disrespect anybody or the role itself.
01:37So I had studied some of the history back then and then how everything was going on back in the days.
01:46Right.
01:47Yes.
01:48How did you end up in the Philippines? How did you find your way to the Philippines?
01:52Back then, this is my 10th year here in the Philippines.
01:55Wow.
01:56So 10, maybe 2014, end of 2014, I had friends visiting Japan and then they were asking me, oh why don't you…
02:03Filipino friends, Japanese friends?
02:05Filipino friends.
02:06Visiting Japan.
02:07Yes.
02:08Alright.
02:09And they were saying, why don't you visit the Philippines? Have you been here?
02:11I've been to Cebu only one time and Manila, I haven't been here.
02:15And they were like, oh you're famous. And I was like, really? I haven't been to the Philippines and I'm famous?
02:22And they were just, just give it a go, just come for like visiting, go to the beach and see how you like the culture and the people.
02:30And so I did following year and I loved it. The hospitality here is great, the food is good and the weather is nice.
02:38At 19, you were introduced.
02:40Yes.
02:41To adult movies.
02:43Yes.
02:44What is the story? How did you get there?
02:46So by that time, I was already working at like bars and lounges in Japan.
02:52As performer?
02:54Performer, yes, yes. I was a performer. And I had my…
02:59Which meant dancing and singing?
03:01No, as in owning like in lounges, bars.
03:04Are you owned?
03:06Part owned.
03:07Part, okay.
03:08And then I was doing like part time jobs. And the people I met there, like especially the girls who worked there, they were already in the business.
03:16So they were like, you know, talking about it. And they were like saying, oh, did you know that you could go like foreign countries for a magazine shoot when you get famous?
03:25You could go on TV. First it was like that really simple stuff. And I was like, oh, that's maybe it's a good idea to get famous because I wanted to go abroad.
03:34I wanted to go to different countries. I wanted to get out of Japan. And then…
03:39Why?
03:40Because I wanted to explore. I wanted to experience different stuff.
03:45It's your nature.
03:46Yeah, I just wanted to go to places that I haven't been there. And then as the time passes, I hear so many good stories.
03:53First, of course, everybody would think that it's like kind of dark, shady business. Like it's really scared to go there.
04:01So when you got into the adult movie business, what did you discover? Because you said it was, you know, you had this impression it was dark, it was dangerous.
04:10So you finally started to do movies. What did you discover?
04:14That it wasn't as dark as I thought. And the people there are very nice. And the girls who work there, of course, it depends on them why they were in that industry.
04:27But it's not because they all wanted money or they just like, you know, had no dreams or anything.
04:34People actually really had a dream and they really was using that industry for their step up. And they really had their own mind and they knew what they were doing.
04:44So it was like something very new and different, but in a good way.
04:49Why did you quit?
04:50Because I wanted to quit the industry while they still know about me or when they're still talking about me.
04:56Because how am I supposed to prove anything if I'm not famous anymore?
