00:00Well, I guess we'll never, ever get another invite to a hands-on event ever again.
00:07We went down to the Panasonic European Configuration and Service Centre to check out the Toughbook
00:1240, one of the most robust and customisable laptops in the world.
00:17And we broke it, sorry.
00:21The Toughbook 40 is a rugged laptop designed to take hard bumps, operate in ridiculous
00:26temperatures and withstand the toughest environments.
00:30It runs on the latest Intel 11th Gen CPU, has built-in 5G connectivity and a touchscreen
00:37that can automatically detect rain or if you're wearing gloves and switch its mode to work
00:42with both.
00:43Its modular design helps to make it easy to use and future-proof and we even got our hands
00:47dirty swapping out some components like this fingerprint scanner and we did all of that
00:52with zero technical know-how.
00:54And then after all of that, we broke it by dropping it from a height almost double its
00:59recommended limit, not once, but twice.
01:03The unit that we dropped was still usable with a few dents and scratches and everything
01:06internal was working totally fine.
01:09The screen was damaged though, but impressively within 25 minutes, the unit that we dropped
01:13was back to full working order as the technicians on location were easily able to swap out the
01:18screen for a new one with very little hassle.
01:21The Toughbook 40 is a very specialist machine and it isn't built for consumers, but it was
01:26super interesting to see how the facilities function and the leaps that are being made
01:30in the B2B sector to make laptops stronger and more versatile.
01:35No laptop should be able to survive operating at ridiculous temperatures, under crazy vibrations
01:40or a 15ft drop onto concrete, but this one can.
