00:00:00Yes, sir. We promised you a great deal.
00:00:05Look at that! Andres, the giant!
00:00:07Hulkamania is running wild!
00:00:09My God, what a run!
00:00:11He missed the match!
00:00:13Give me a hell yeah!
00:00:15The world is watching!
00:00:22Tonight, we are going to kick off the Beat the Clock Sprint.
00:00:27The first ever Beat the Clock Sprint match, Kane vs. Chavo Guerrero.
00:00:32The winner of this match will set the pace.
00:00:35That will be the time to beat for an opportunity to take on Batiste at the Royal Rumble for the world title.
00:00:41Chavo going to pull off the upset, but Kane caught it!
00:00:44Wow, look at this!
00:00:45Chokeslam! At 7 minutes, 53 seconds, Kane puts Chavo away!
00:00:52Champion vs. Champion!
00:00:54Tag team partners pitted against each other.
00:00:57London knocked down, neither London nor Kendrick will advance.
00:01:01Kane will continue to set the pace.
00:01:04Ladies and gentlemen, your future World Heavyweight Champion, King Booker!
00:01:13King Booker bounces off the ropes, scissors kick to the back of the neck!
00:01:16This could be it!
00:01:17Hooks the leg, shoulders down, King Booker sets the new time to beat.
00:01:226 minutes, 24 seconds.
00:01:25So it's Tataka vs. Jimmy Wayne Yang in another match in the Beat the Clock Sprint.
00:01:30Jimmy Wayne Yang into the corner, he's running out of time!
00:01:34The moonsault, but he may have had Tataka, but the time is run out!
00:01:38King Booker's time of 6.24 stands.
00:01:43I am Mr. Canada!
00:01:53Look at Kennedy, Kennedy is removing the protective covering from that steel turnbuckle.
00:01:58Benoit, collision, top turnbuckle, hooks the leg!
00:02:02Mr. Kennedy!
00:02:04He did it!
00:02:06Mr. Kennedy has set the new time to beat.
00:02:095 minutes and 7 seconds.
00:02:11Tonight, the Beat the Clock Sprint continues.
00:02:14And we will find out who faces Batista for the World Championship at the Royal Rumble.
00:02:20Who, if anyone, will beat the clock tonight?
00:02:50Rumble!
00:02:52Break it out, break it down, break the rules, break the ground.
00:02:56Had your day, now it's gone.
00:02:58A new day, a new dawn.
00:03:02Rumble!
00:03:04Rumble!
00:03:06Rumble!
00:03:08Rumble!
00:03:10Rumble!
00:03:12Rumble!
00:03:14Rumble!
00:03:16Just over two weeks away from the Royal Rumble, and tonight Friday Night Smackdown rolls through the River City of Peoria.
00:03:22Michael Cole and JBL at ringside.
00:03:24And tonight, John, an opportunity to wrestle for the World Title if the Royal Rumble hangs in the balance.
00:03:31And there you see the time to beat set by Mr. Kennedy in the Beat the Clock Sprint.
00:03:375 minutes and 7 seconds, but four superstars among those who are going to try to beat the clock tonight.
00:03:43And I love to fight.
00:03:45And we will, from what we understand, start off tonight with a Beat the Clock Sprint matchup.
00:03:54The following is a Beat the Clock Sprint match.
00:03:58Making his way to the ring from Belfast, Ireland.
00:04:01Weighing in at 233 pounds, Finlay.
00:04:05And again, John, a completely random droid, so we have no idea, neither does Finlay, who Finlay will face here tonight.
00:04:13But the thing I like about it, Michael, is you have got Finlay in this Beat the Clock Sprint.
00:04:18But who's his opponent going to be?
00:04:21Oh, yeah!
00:04:23Oh!
00:04:26Oh!
00:04:27And from Cameron, North Carolina, weighing in at 236 pounds, Matt Hardy!
00:04:34So it will be Matt Hardy vs. Finlay here in a one-on-one first matchup in the Beat the Clock Sprint here tonight on SmackDown.
00:04:40Now, the man who's in the clubhouse, so to speak, who is the leader, Mr. Kennedy,
00:04:46well, is going to be watching, I'm sure, all of these matchups here tonight.
00:04:50Mr. Kennedy joining us from the locker room area here in Peoria.
00:04:54And, Mr. Kennedy, you've set the pace, five minutes, seven seconds.
00:04:57Are you a bit nervous that time may be beaten tonight?
00:05:01Do you honestly think for one second that Finlay, that Matt Hardy, MVP, or The Undertaker,
00:05:11will be beaten within five minutes and seven seconds?
00:05:15I think my chances are pretty good.
00:05:18Well, thank you for joining us, Mr. Kennedy, extremely confident here tonight.
00:05:22But, again, he's the pace setter.
00:05:24Five minutes, seven seconds, the time to beat in Matt Hardy vs. Finlay
00:05:28in a tough matchup to get things underway.
00:05:31And Finlay wasted little time.
00:05:33And, again, John, not only do you want to beat the clock,
00:05:35but you want to beat the clock and set a new pace that will be hard for others to beat.
00:05:39That's right. You don't want to just beat the clock.
00:05:41You don't want to get in just under five minutes if you could.
00:05:43You want to get in as quick as you can.
00:05:45There's the first near-fall of the matchup.
00:05:47You want to set a pace.
00:05:49You still have got MVP.
00:05:51You've got The Undertaker.
00:05:53You've got great stars.
00:05:54Again, a cover by Finlay and a kickout.
00:05:56Coming out of this, you want to set a time that cannot be beat.
00:06:00The Hardy chance from these SmackDown fans here at Peoria.
00:06:04Another quick roll-up by Finlay, kickout by Matt Hardy.
00:06:07So, again, John, you're not going to see some traditional style tonight.
00:06:10Another quick roll-up by Finlay, kickout by Matt Hardy.
00:06:12So, again, John, you're not going to see some traditional style here.
00:06:15What I mean by that is you're not going to work on a body part, so to speak.
00:06:18There's the smoke.
00:06:19Oh, and Matt Hardy almost had him and a kickout by Finlay.
00:06:22You're going to try to go for the quick pinfalls.
00:06:25You've got five minutes to win the match.
00:06:28That puts you in a world championship match at the Royal Rumble with Batista.
00:06:32No, you're not going to see a guy bring the guy down.
00:06:35You're going to see guys go for home runs.
00:06:37Another quick roll-up by Matt Hardy.
00:06:38Hooks the leg again, kickout at two by Finlay.
00:06:40What this makes, Michael, is this makes the most exciting television programming
00:06:43SmackDown has ever seen.
00:06:45Again, a roll-up by Matt Hardy and a kickout at two.
00:06:48Because in this, it's all chips in.
00:06:50Everybody goes for broke every single minute.
00:06:53This is the one thing Teddy Long has done that is genius.
00:06:56The pace center, Mr. Kennedy, at five minutes, seven seconds,
00:06:59set the pace for the victory over Chris Benoit last week.
00:07:02Mr. Kennedy, even though he's defeated six former world champions,
00:07:06another cover here by Finlay and a kickout.
00:07:09Mr. Kennedy has never been involved in a world championship matchup.
00:07:13Again, a kickout by Matt Hardy.
00:07:15Kennedy had one of the best years in the history of sports entertainment last year,
00:07:18defeating five world champions.
00:07:20He starts off 07 the same way.
00:07:23He defeats another world champion.
00:07:25It is a crime that Mr. Kennedy has not got a world championship matchup until now.
00:07:30And here's Matt Hardy again kicking at it, too.
00:07:32Finlay going for the unique cover there.
00:07:34Getting the shoulders down of Matt Hardy.
00:07:36As the time ticks away, nearing the three-minute mark,
00:07:40will Finlay or Matt Hardy be able to beat the clock here in the opening matchup tonight?
00:07:45I've known Finlay since we wrestled together back in the early 90s in Europe.
00:07:49Finlay has always wanted to be a world champion.
00:07:52Matt Hardy is breaking through that glass ceiling.
00:07:55I've said all along, Matt Hardy can be a main eventer.
00:07:57This is his chance.
00:07:58And now the situation we have, John, is both men butted heads.
00:08:01Both men are down center of the ring.
00:08:03And as they try to regain their wits about them, the clock is ticking away.
00:08:07Not a good situation for either man.
00:08:09The clock is not your friend.
00:08:13Finlay and Matt Hardy back to their feet.
00:08:15Matt Hardy misses the right hand.
00:08:17And the Fighting Irishman, Finlay, may be in trouble here.
00:08:19Matt Hardy may be going for the backslide.
00:08:22Finlay's trying to use that upper power.
00:08:23And there we go.
00:08:24Backslide.
00:08:25Shoulders down.
00:08:26Kick out at two.
00:08:27Imagine what is at stake here, Michael.
00:08:30Teddy Long would probably not give this title match.
00:08:33Side effect.
00:08:34This could be it.
00:08:35Matt Hardy floats to the cover.
00:08:36Hooks the leg.
00:08:37Shoulders down.
00:08:38And Finlay just gets the shoulder up.
00:08:39To a guy like London and Kendrick, the tag team specialists.
00:08:42But they have a chance in this.
00:08:44Oh!
00:08:45Second hook of the title match.
00:08:47Such a side effect.
00:08:48Second hook of the leg.
00:08:49And again, a kick out.
00:08:50And now the clock continues to tick away.
00:08:53Under a minute 50 left.
00:08:54And now desperation will begin to set in for both of these men.
00:09:01Went for another side effect, perhaps, with Finlay.
00:09:04Defensive this time.
00:09:05Needs to really turn it around and get on the offense to have an opportunity to beat the clock.
00:09:10The problem you're dealing with is both these are tough individuals.
00:09:14To beat a tough individual like this in five minutes, Michael, sometimes it takes a miracle.
00:09:20Hey, look at this.
00:09:21Here comes the miracle.
00:09:22It might be the miracle.
00:09:23The little bastard, Matt Hardy, grabbing the little bastard from the pants.
00:09:27Finlay's got a shillelagh.
00:09:30Referee never saw the shillelagh to the left.
00:09:32And there's going to the Royal Rumble.
00:09:33He's going to advance.
00:09:35And a kick out.
00:09:38I don't believe Finlay.
00:09:42He's trying everything he can, Michael.
00:09:44This is what is at stake.
00:09:46The leprechaun was actually taller than Charles Robinson.
00:09:49And Finlay trying to work on the injured leg of Matt Hardy.
00:09:53The one he struck with the shillelagh.
00:09:56And look at this.
00:09:57A submission maneuver.
00:09:59Remember, if Matt taps out, Finlay will beat the clock.
00:10:05He's got it.
00:10:06That leg is hurting that shillelagh.
00:10:08All Finlay has to do is put pressure on the knee.
00:10:11He's not getting out of this, Michael.
00:10:13I guarantee it.
00:10:14Finlay continuing the pressure.
00:10:15We're under 30 seconds.
00:10:18Desperation time for both Finlay and Hardy.
00:10:20And Finlay going to wrap up the legs again.
00:10:22Can he lock it in?
00:10:23He does.
00:10:24Matt Hardy has got to hold on for 15 more seconds.
00:10:26He's got it cinched in deep.
00:10:28The only thing is, can Matt Hardy hang on for another 10 seconds?
00:10:32You see Finlay checking the clock.
00:10:34So is Hardy.
00:10:35The SmackDown fans counting down.
00:10:37Will Matt Hardy tap out?
00:10:39Tap, Matt! Tap!
00:10:41No one beats the clock.
00:10:42Kennedy's 507 is still the time to beat.
00:10:48Finlay had it cinched in deep.
00:10:49Look at it.
00:10:52Who the hell is this?
00:10:53Who the hell is this?
00:10:54Joey Mercury.
00:10:55Joey Mercury.
00:10:56What the hell has he got on his face?
00:10:58Matt Hardy broke his face.
00:11:00That's what he has on his face, Michael.
00:11:02It's a face mask wrapped for protection.
00:11:04But Joey Mercury beating the hell out of Matt Hardy.
00:11:07Remember, Mercury blames the Hardys for those severe facial injuries.
00:11:12He knows.
00:11:13Just shut up, Michael.
00:11:14He blames the Hardys.
00:11:15Of course he blames the Hardys.
00:11:17The Hardys are the ones that did it.
00:11:19A steel chair right across the skull of Matt Hardy.
00:11:22Joey Mercury may be trying to permanently disfigure Matt Hardy here tonight.
00:11:28Just like in Armageddon.
00:11:31And here are referees and officials from the Locker Room area
00:11:37perhaps helping to avert disaster.
00:11:40Because it was a disaster.
00:11:41No, no. What disaster is, look at Joey Mercury.
00:11:44Look at him.
00:11:45The kid had Hollywood good looks.
00:11:47The kid was bound for movies.
00:11:49Look at him now.
00:11:51He looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame with that thing on his face.
00:11:54All because of Matt Hardy.
00:11:56I don't blame him one bit for what Matt Hardy did to him for wanting to get retribution.
00:12:01The Hardys had nothing to do with the disfigurement.
00:12:05They did it, Michael.
00:12:06They didn't do it on purpose.
00:12:08And Joey Mercury was hell-bent on revenge tonight.
00:12:11And look how he placed the skull of Matt Hardy in between that steel chair.
00:12:17And if it weren't for the officials and the referees from the back,
00:12:23there may have been serious damage to Matt Hardy.
00:12:25But the bottom line is Mr. Kennedy has still set the time to beat.
00:12:29Kennedy is looking to get his first world championship match.
00:12:33But we've got a lot left.
00:12:34You've got MVP and The Undertaker.
00:12:36And who knows what else is still coming up.
00:12:39Well, Mr. Kennedy didn't just have the time to beat to worry about.
00:12:41He's also got to worry about the United States Champion,
00:12:45who is still seething after what happened last week.
00:12:47Benoit looks for revenge against Kennedy tonight.
00:12:55Joey, what the hell happened out there?
00:12:57I am not going to stop.
00:13:00Not until Matt Hardy's face looks worse than mine.
00:13:10Wow.
00:13:11I don't blame him.
00:13:12Well, he's a bit bitter.
00:13:13I don't think the Hardys hadn't been any harm by what they did.
00:13:15It was all the spirit of competition.
00:13:16Bitter my ass.
00:13:17Would you quit sticking up for what happened?
00:13:19The Hardys are experts in a ladder match.
00:13:21You know they damn well they did it on purpose.
00:13:30The following contest is scheduled for one fall in the ring.
00:13:34From Austell, Georgia, weighing in at 200 pounds,
00:13:38Jimmy Wayne.
00:13:41Ladies and gentlemen, last week's SmackDown's resident redneck,
00:13:44Jimmy Wayne Yang, seconds away from setting the pace
00:13:47in the Beat the Clock sprint versus Tataka.
00:13:50Now watch Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:13:52He goes for the moonsault and almost had him defeated.
00:13:55Watch his knee right here on the back of Tataka's head.
00:13:57I think he had him.
00:13:58I think Tataka was momentarily out.
00:14:01But Tataka was frustrated that he couldn't beat the clock.
00:14:04And there is the ambush, the attack from behind on Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:14:09I don't call it an attack.
00:14:10I call it a statement.
00:14:11It's something Tataka should have made a long time ago.
00:14:15Well, Tataka has the opportunity to make another statement here tonight
00:14:19in his return match from last week.
00:14:21And from Plano, North Carolina, weighing in at 263 pounds,
00:14:27Tataka.
00:14:29And this is not a beat the clock match here tonight.
00:14:33A straight one-on-one matchup between Tataka and Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:14:40So Jimmy Wayne Yang cannot wait to get his hands on Tataka here tonight,
00:14:45and I can't blame him.
00:14:47I'm not sure he wants to, Michael.
00:14:49You look at Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:14:50He's talented.
00:14:51He's not a redneck.
00:14:52He's not a registered redneck.
00:14:55He's a goofball.
00:14:56Wait a minute.
00:14:57Registered redneck.
00:14:58So you got to register to be a redneck now?
00:15:00I thought he was SmackDown's resident redneck.
00:15:02Whatever.
00:15:03I don't care.
00:15:04He should register to be in this country.
00:15:05I'm not going to register to be in the country legally.
00:15:07And Jimmy Wayne Yang wants to go to work on Tataka,
00:15:10the big right hands, to the much bigger man, Tataka.
00:15:12And for Jimmy Wayne Yang to win this matchup,
00:15:14he's going to have to keep the big man from getting settled into this matchup
00:15:18and being able to use his power.
00:15:20And that's what Jimmy Wayne Yang is doing here,
00:15:22perhaps frustrating Tataka.
00:15:25What he's doing, Michael, right now, is he's staying out of Tataka's grip.
00:15:28Look at Jimmy Wayne Yang starting this matchup.
00:15:34I guess I'd react the same way if somebody ambushed me from behind.
00:15:37Looks like Briscoe versus Chief J. Strongbow 20 years ago.
00:15:40Here we go again.
00:15:42Or what happened 30 years ago, Geronimo versus Custer.
00:15:45Yeah, but if it was Briscoe versus Strongbow, it would be Indian versus Indian.
00:15:48This is actually a redneck versus an Indian.
00:15:51So the analogy is all screwed up.
00:15:53Briscoe's from Oklahoma.
00:15:54He didn't know what he is.
00:15:55Jimmy Wayne Yang continues the pressure on Tataka.
00:15:57Okay, let's say it's Dick Murdock against Briscoe.
00:16:01Over a bottle of moonshine.
00:16:03No, it's not.
00:16:04Then it'd be a cowboy versus an Indian.
00:16:06Oh, Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:16:08Thought he had Tataka in trouble.
00:16:10And Tataka just slinging Jimmy Wayne Yang into the second turnbuckle.
00:16:14And this is what I was afraid of,
00:16:16the opportunity for the much bigger and powerful man to beat the hell out of Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:16:23Let's take another look at Tataka.
00:16:26Seemingly almost baiting Jimmy Wayne Yang in.
00:16:30He's saying Tataka's a changer.
00:16:31Damn right he has.
00:16:32He's using his brain.
00:16:33Here's the cover by Tataka.
00:16:34And a kick out.
00:16:35At some point tonight, you may allow me to finish a thought.
00:16:38No, you really have a thought.
00:16:40I don't care if you finish or not.
00:16:41People tune in to see me.
00:16:43Ratings are up.
00:16:44People are going through the—
00:16:45Attendance is up.
00:16:46Everything is up for one reason, Michael.
00:16:48It's JBL.
00:16:49Ratings are at near record levels on SmackDown on Friday night
00:16:52because of the great SmackDown fans and all the superstars in the ring.
00:16:56Better here to see me.
00:16:57Has nothing to do with you.
00:16:58And Tataka dropping the elbow right to the sternum.
00:17:02I'll tell you, this Tataka has really changed.
00:17:04A much different attitude.
00:17:06Rarely smiles anymore.
00:17:08You see him in the locker room area.
00:17:09Can hardly talk to the man.
00:17:11I guess he's upset.
00:17:12You know—
00:17:13Suplex.
00:17:14Cover again.
00:17:15Shoulders down.
00:17:16Kick out by Jimmy Wayne.
00:17:17You know, Suave Bluebird of the Lakota tribe just got arrested.
00:17:19He was put in jail maybe for life.
00:17:21It's true.
00:17:22The lady who posed with Bill Clinton at the low-income housing,
00:17:24she just got arrested for a federal drug ring.
00:17:27She's going to prison for life.
00:17:28Maybe that's what Tataka's so mad about.
00:17:30An honorary member of the Lakota tribe.
00:17:34As Tataka's whipped across the ring,
00:17:36Jimmy Wayne telegraphed it,
00:17:38walked into a chop by Tataka.
00:17:41That'll hurt you.
00:17:44Tataka vowing to seek vengeance for what he feels have been wrongs
00:17:48dealt to him by WWE superstars and officials in recent months.
00:17:53We saw the frustration last week when he couldn't quite beat the clock.
00:17:57Hey, hey.
00:17:58Tataka, back up.
00:18:00Jimmy Wayne Yang in all kinds of trouble in the corner.
00:18:04This is what Tataka needs to do.
00:18:06The Jimmy Wayne Yang, I don't like him.
00:18:08He's our registered, our registered.
00:18:10I don't care.
00:18:11Redneck.
00:18:12He's not a redneck.
00:18:13He is now the Atata, but he should be.
00:18:16That's what Tataka needs to be doing.
00:18:18Tataka's name means buffalo,
00:18:20and he looks like a buffalo barreling into Jimmy Wayne Yang in the corner.
00:18:24His head looks like a bison, like Karl DeMarco,
00:18:27the WWE head of Canada.
00:18:30Dragging Jimmy Wayne Yang in the corner.
00:18:33Karl, get along.
00:18:34And look at Tataka.
00:18:36This is what Tataka needs to be doing.
00:18:37This is how Tataka was undefeated for two straight years in the WWE
00:18:41when he first came in.
00:18:43He's using his strength.
00:18:44He's using his power.
00:18:45He's fighting within himself.
00:18:46The Jimmy Wayne Yang, perhaps desperation,
00:18:49but it worked nonetheless.
00:18:50And if Jimmy Wayne Yang can start using his speed
00:18:53and his high-flying ability,
00:18:55he can really take Tataka out of his game like he's doing here.
00:18:59Working on that left knee of Tataka.
00:19:02Jimmy Wayne Yang is as talented as an individual I've seen come in here,
00:19:06but he is as eccentric as an individual as I've seen.
00:19:10He just, you know what?
00:19:11He's a goof.
00:19:12He thinks he's like the Asian Stone Cold Steve Harvey.
00:19:16He's a resident redneck.
00:19:17He lives in Georgia, loves pickup trucks, wears chaps.
00:19:22So all people in Georgia are rednecks.
00:19:24That's what you're saying.
00:19:25No.
00:19:26Martin Luther King was from Georgia.
00:19:27Okay.
00:19:28I have a lot of respect for him.
00:19:29He wasn't a redneck.
00:19:30He was a great civil rights leader.
00:19:31That's not what I said.
00:19:32Ron Simmons is from Georgia.
00:19:33He's not a redneck.
00:19:35Ron is one of my real good friends.
00:19:37No, he's not.
00:19:38Oh!
00:19:39And Tataka in trouble.
00:19:41Jimmy Wayne Yang driving his skull into Tataka's jaw.
00:19:46What Jimmy Wayne Yang needs to do is create distance.
00:19:48He stays close to Tataka.
00:19:50He has no hope of offense.
00:19:52He's got to create some distance and do his high-flying skills.
00:19:56I was about to say I didn't think it was wise for Jimmy Wayne Yang
00:19:58to try to slug it out with Tataka, but it worked there,
00:20:00knocking the big man down.
00:20:02And Jimmy Wayne Yang trying to build some momentum.
00:20:04Swinging neckbreaker into the cover.
00:20:06Shoulders down.
00:20:07Tataka kicks out.
00:20:08I really believe this will be a huge upset if Jimmy Wayne Yang gets it.
00:20:11Again a cover and a kick out off the lateral press.
00:20:14Jimmy Wayne Yang was close against Gregory Helms
00:20:16in a great match at Armageddon to getting the Cruiserweight title.
00:20:20Defeating Tataka will move him up the ladder significantly.
00:20:24What a move!
00:20:25He'll kick to the jaw.
00:20:26Again into the cover.
00:20:27Hooks the leg.
00:20:28Shoulders down.
00:20:29Kick out at two by Tataka,
00:20:30who has been taken to the limit here tonight by Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:20:36That's power.
00:20:37That's what you can't coach.
00:20:41Jimmy Wayne Yang, who is perhaps seconds away from setting the pace
00:20:44at the peak of the clock sprint last week,
00:20:46lost body but was caught by Tataka.
00:20:48In midair and driven to the ground.
00:20:51The cover, hook of the leg, and it's over.
00:20:54Just like that, Tataka knocks off Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:21:01Here's your winner, Tataka.
00:21:04It looked like a version of the old Boss Man Slam.
00:21:09Tataka using power to win,
00:21:11which is what brought Tataka to the dance to begin with.
00:21:14Tataka is a force to be reckoned with on SmackDown.
00:21:18You can't take anything away from Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:21:20I don't take anything away from Jimmy Wayne Yang.
00:21:22The guy is loaded with talent.
00:21:24I love to see Jimmy Wayne Yang do what he does best, and that's why.
00:21:27He just happened to get a much bigger man today who overpowered him.
00:21:32Tataka driving Jimmy Wayne Yang into the mat
00:21:36and picking up the victory here on Friday Night SmackDown.
00:21:39Ladies and gentlemen, still to come tonight,
00:21:42the tag team titles are on the line.
00:21:45The question is, can Regal and Taylor end the eight-month reign
00:21:51of the champions London and Kendrick?
00:21:53We'll find out tonight.
00:22:06Follow me on Friday Night SmackDown.
00:22:37For London and Kendrick, this is an opportunity
00:22:39for this tag team to solidify themselves,
00:22:41to make a name for themselves,
00:22:43to gain respect in sports entertainment
00:22:45if London and Kendrick can pull off a victory in this matchup.
00:22:48These teams have had the crack kicked out of each other,
00:22:51and they all want to prove they're number one.
00:22:54Paul London and Matt Hardy, top of the ladder, battling each other.
00:22:57Paul London, can he get the titles down?
00:22:59Paul London got him.
00:23:01London and Kendrick retain the gold.
00:23:05What an awesome run they're having as tag team champions.
00:23:14What I'm saying is tonight we're defending these again.
00:23:19Look who's here. Gentlemen.
00:23:21Gentlemen, no, no, no, no, no.
00:23:23I just thought I'd better warn you
00:23:25that tonight it isn't a ladder match.
00:23:28No, it's a wrestling match.
00:23:31Now you do know what that is, don't you?
00:23:34Good luck, chaps.
00:23:40Well, Regal and Teller make a very good point.
00:23:42Perhaps this is the night that they take the tag team titles away
00:23:45from London and Kendrick.
00:23:462006 was the year of London and Kendrick.
00:23:48We'll see if 2007 is as well.
00:23:51Well, ladies and gentlemen, coming up next, we can tell you this.
00:23:54The United States champion, Chris Benoit,
00:23:56will be in action with revenge on his mind.
00:23:58And there is the rabid Wolverine.
00:24:00And you know, John, he must feel cheated.
00:24:02Cheated, screwed out of the beat the clock sprint last week,
00:24:05seeking revenge tonight against the pace setter, Mr. Kennedy.
00:24:08Not Chris Benoit needs anything to raise his intensity level.
00:24:12Well, tonight, Mr. Kennedy, you watch out.
00:24:15He's got the rabid Wolverine, and they're coming up next.
00:24:23Kennedy!
00:24:25And this is not a beat the clock sprint match,
00:24:28but here is the leader in the sprint.
00:24:32I'll turn up the trouble till it gets real loud
00:24:36I'll have this over and done with
00:24:41Unless we get out of here now that I can
00:24:44I'm gonna see how much I can win today
00:24:49The man who will win the beat the clock sprint
00:25:04and go on to face Batista at the Royal Rumble
00:25:08and become the new world heavyweight champion,
00:25:13Mr. Kennedy!
00:25:28Kennedy!
00:25:34Well, Mr. Kennedy is the pace setter of the beat the clock sprint
00:25:37last week involved in the final matchup.
00:25:40The time to beat him had been set by King Booker.
00:25:43It was a seesaw battle between Kennedy and Benoit
00:25:46until Kennedy took the protective covering off the turnbuckle.
00:25:49Referee never saw Benoit going to the victory,
00:25:52but Kennedy would turn the tables.
00:25:55Reed Machiavelli, the end always justifies the means.
00:25:58And right here, Mr. Kennedy defeats his sixth,
00:26:03sixth, that's half a dozen, world champion.
00:26:07At five minutes, seven seconds, the pace has been set
00:26:10and Mr. Kennedy is in control for a possible title match
00:26:14at the Royal Rumble.
00:26:16And from Atlanta, Georgia, weighing in at totally 44 pounds
00:26:21is the United States champion, Chris Benoit!
00:26:27John, I tried to talk to Chris Benoit earlier today
00:26:30about really getting screwed out of that sprint match
00:26:33last week by Mr. Kennedy. Benoit didn't want to hear it.
00:26:36Chris Benoit is completely focused on getting
00:26:38his own kind of revenge here tonight.
00:26:40Chris Benoit's middle world champion.
00:26:42He understands that what it means is whether you win
00:26:46or whether you lose.
00:26:48How you did it makes no difference.
00:26:50He's not a whiner. He's not a crier.
00:26:53That guy right there, Chris Benoit, is a man among men.
00:26:56And you just saw Chris Benoit gesture to the turnbuckle.
00:26:59Remember, Mr. Kennedy pulling that protective covering
00:27:02off that steel turnbuckle last week,
00:27:03helping him with the victory.
00:27:05Chris Benoit, the United States champion,
00:27:07goes to work on Kennedy.
00:27:09I don't agree with Chris Benoit taking a shot at Vickie Guerrero.
00:27:12But other than that, Chris Benoit's personification
00:27:16of champion.
00:27:17Chris Benoit, he took the United States champion
00:27:20from Mr. Kennedy.
00:27:21And Chris Benoit going to show Kennedy
00:27:24what those turnbuckles feel like.
00:27:27Kennedy is whipped across the ring.
00:27:29Ken Kennedy with a lot on his mind here tonight.
00:27:31Will anybody beat Kennedy's time
00:27:34in the beat-the-clock sprint?
00:27:35And now he's got to go face-to-face
00:27:37with one angry Wolverine.
00:27:41I don't think a normal Wolverine's any better, Michael.
00:27:45Chris Benoit.
00:27:46I've wrestled Chris Benoit from pay-per-views
00:27:49to Poughkeepsie, New York.
00:27:51There is no difference in the two.
00:27:53Snap suplex, shoulders down, kick out.
00:27:55Yeah, Chris Benoit really only knows one speed, doesn't he?
00:27:58He's got one speed, and it is full bore.
00:28:01It's called stick your foot in the carburetor
00:28:03and drive it like you're scrolling.
00:28:05Very physical matchup in the early going.
00:28:07Kennedy with the right hands and the kicks to Benoit.
00:28:11Wolverine knocked down with that high elbow by Mr. Kennedy.
00:28:14Here's the hook of the leg.
00:28:16Kennedy with that quick cover almost seems like
00:28:18he was in a beat-the-clock sprint match here tonight.
00:28:22Kennedy would love to get this one over with.
00:28:24Kennedy believes he's going to the Royal Rumble.
00:28:27German suplex by Benoit, this time released.
00:28:29Kennedy tried to block it, couldn't do it.
00:28:32Mr. Kennedy going to...
00:28:33This is smart.
00:28:34This is where Kennedy is maturing as a wrestler.
00:28:37He's learning when he needs to take a breather.
00:28:39He got it.
00:28:41Chris Benoit, being the veteran he is,
00:28:43understands you don't let your opponents take that breather.
00:28:46Benoit sends Kennedy back into the ring.
00:28:48One thing Benoit is so good about
00:28:50is he doesn't allow distance between him and his opponent.
00:28:53He is as aggressive and intense as anybody I've ever seen
00:28:58in that squared circle.
00:29:00The elbow crawls to the cover, hooks the leg,
00:29:02has the shoulders down and a kick-out.
00:29:04How do you beat Chris Benoit?
00:29:06You hope that Chris Benoit makes mistakes.
00:29:08The one thing that Chris Benoit...
00:29:10Oh!
00:29:11Look at this.
00:29:12Just what Kennedy did is he can be over-aggressive.
00:29:15Chris Benoit is one-speed full-bore.
00:29:18You use that against him if you can.
00:29:21Take another look at Chris Benoit,
00:29:23slung out of the ring by a very confident, seemingly,
00:29:28Mr. Kennedy.
00:29:29Kennedy back into the ring, quickly to the cover,
00:29:31hooking the leg.
00:29:32Benoit in trouble and rolls out the shoulder.
00:29:34The Benoit chants begin here in Peoria.
00:29:36You made a great point earlier on, JBL.
00:29:39Perhaps it wasn't another superstar here on SmackDown
00:29:42that had quite the year that Kennedy had in 2006.
00:29:46And he started off 2007 the same.
00:29:49He beat Chris Benoit, another world champion.
00:29:53Mr. Kennedy drops the elbow.
00:29:55Benoit rolls out of the way.
00:29:56Look at the list of the men who Kennedy has defeated.
00:29:58Batista, King Booker, Rey Mysterio, Kane, Undertaker,
00:30:03and Chris Benoit, all former, as you mentioned,
00:30:07world champions.
00:30:08All former world champions and all potential Hall of Famers.
00:30:11Oh, what a suplex!
00:30:12There's the bridge, shoulders down, kick out.
00:30:14But Mr. Kennedy has never in his career
00:30:17had a championship opportunity.
00:30:19But if his time stands tonight,
00:30:21he'll have his first championship shot
00:30:23at the Royal Rumble.
00:30:24And the thing Mr. Kennedy knows,
00:30:26wow, German.
00:30:27He may not know it right now.
00:30:28He knows he's going for a ride.
00:30:31A second German suplex, arms clasped.
00:30:33It usually ends in three.
00:30:35Hands are locked around the waist.
00:30:37There's the third this time released.
00:30:39Benoit is in the driver's seat.
00:30:45Chris Benoit!
00:30:48The long history of no Chris Benoit.
00:30:50Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
00:30:51Chavo Guerrero?
00:30:53What the hell is Chavo doing out here?
00:30:55Things just got interesting, Michael.
00:31:01We are back on Friday night SmackDown.
00:31:03Mr. Kennedy versus Chris Benoit.
00:31:05We are joined at ringside by Chavo Guerrero,
00:31:07who's been locked in a bitter battle
00:31:09with the United States champion, Benoit.
00:31:11Chavo, I want to welcome you on behalf of, well, of me.
00:31:14And SmackDown.
00:31:15Thank you very much, Eddie.
00:31:16I appreciate it.
00:31:17You are always welcome down here at commentary.
00:31:19Chavo, I do have to mention,
00:31:21well, you look a bit naked out here
00:31:22without your business manager, Vickie Guerrero.
00:31:24She had some poignant comments last week.
00:31:26What is going on with your relationship with her?
00:31:28This has got nothing to do with Vickie.
00:31:30This has got everything to do with Chris Benoit.
00:31:32Vickie's not here because of what Chris Benoit did to her.
00:31:36I've shown nothing but respect to Chris Benoit.
00:31:38And what does he do?
00:31:39He takes it out on the Guerrero family
00:31:41by hitting Vickie Guerrero.
00:31:43So why are you out here, then?
00:31:44Now, more importantly, how is Vickie doing
00:31:46now that Chris Benoit almost took her head off with that elbow?
00:31:49Well, this is really not about Vickie.
00:31:51This is about what's going on right here
00:31:52in the match between Chris Benoit
00:31:53and Kennedy.
00:31:54Chris Benoit, the United States champion
00:31:56with the right hands.
00:31:57Chavo Guerrero has had a number of opportunities
00:32:00to wrestle that title away from Benoit in recent weeks,
00:32:02but has not been able to get the job done.
00:32:04What are you talking about?
00:32:05Oh, it's both men over the top rope.
00:32:07I beat Chris Benoit.
00:32:09I beat him, but fortunately for Chris Benoit,
00:32:11it was a non-title match.
00:32:12Yeah, Chris Benoit also beat you a number of times as well.
00:32:14No, no, no.
00:32:15Chris Benoit has nothing but weak cheeks the whole time.
00:32:18That's all that Chris does.
00:32:20Fortunately for Chris Benoit,
00:32:21it was a non-title match.
00:32:22When can a champion actually pick and choose
00:32:25what kind of matches he wants to have?
00:32:27Well, the bottom line is Chris Benoit
00:32:29is locked in a major battle right now with Mr. Kennedy,
00:32:32and Kennedy rolls into the cover.
00:32:34Forearm in the face, shoulders down,
00:32:36and a kick out by Benoit.
00:32:39What a match it would have been
00:32:40if Chris Benoit had ended up right now
00:32:43potentially going to face Benoit,
00:32:45but Mr. Kennedy, he knows he can beat Batista
00:32:49because he's done it before.
00:32:51Here's the cover, shoulders down.
00:32:53Kennedy may have him, and a kick out.
00:32:55If you recall, Michael Cole,
00:32:56I've been champion also,
00:32:57and I faced anybody, anytime, anyplace.
00:33:00I didn't pick and choose when I defended the title.
00:33:03Chavo, let me ask you.
00:33:05You got screwed on this beat-the-clock sprint
00:33:07having to face Kane the first match.
00:33:09You were totally unprepared.
00:33:10Absolutely.
00:33:11But right here, you had two guys
00:33:12who fought last week as well,
00:33:13Mr. Kennedy and Chris Benoit.
00:33:15How do you judge this matchup between these two?
00:33:18This is a great matchup right now.
00:33:20You got Chris Benoit.
00:33:21Like I said, I had nothing but respect for Chris Benoit
00:33:24even after everything he's done to my family.
00:33:27And you have Kennedy,
00:33:28who has beaten six champions in the past year.
00:33:31I mean, this is a great matchup,
00:33:33and my odds are going to go to Ken.
00:33:35He's been on a roll.
00:33:36And let me remind everybody,
00:33:37Mr. Kennedy does set the pace
00:33:38in the beat-the-clock sprint at 5 minutes, 7 seconds,
00:33:41and he did that against Benoit last week.
00:33:43And look at Kennedy using the top rope for leverage.
00:33:46Chavo and JBL, you guys have got to be impressed
00:33:48with the way Mr. Kennedy has picked up his game
00:33:51over the past few months.
00:33:52But is this the way Kennedy gets rewarded?
00:33:55He's set the pace.
00:33:57He's got the best time,
00:33:58and he's got to face Chris Benoit again?
00:34:00This is all part of Teddy Long's doing.
00:34:02I've said that all along.
00:34:03Teddy Long has his favorites.
00:34:05Teddy Long has his pets.
00:34:06Cover hook to the leg.
00:34:07Shoulders down, and Benoit rolls it out.
00:34:09I think Ken's performance last week
00:34:11would buy him a bye this week.
00:34:13Don't you, JBL?
00:34:14He cheated.
00:34:15He took a protective covering off the turnbuckle.
00:34:17If you look in the win-loss column,
00:34:18all you're going to see is a W.
00:34:20That's it.
00:34:21And Chris Benoit in a world of trouble.
00:34:23Kennedy again crawls to the cover.
00:34:25Look how he puts the forearm in the jaw.
00:34:27Let me explain something to you, Michael,
00:34:28something I knew a lot about,
00:34:29something every Guerrero that's ever been in the ring
00:34:31knows something about.
00:34:32Last week, Mr. Kennedy took off a turnbuckle,
00:34:34got away with it, beat Chris Benoit.
00:34:36Just then, you see him in a domino stretch
00:34:38using the top rope.
00:34:39Never got caught.
00:34:41That is the experience that Mr. Kennedy is building,
00:34:44something I know all about,
00:34:46something the Guerreros damn sure know all about.
00:34:48He must have been watching a lot of my matches.
00:34:50I watched yours, your dad's,
00:34:52your brother's wrestling a bunch of your uncles.
00:34:54I think you've wrestled every one of the Guerreros,
00:34:56haven't you?
00:34:57And Benoit placed on the apron in trouble.
00:34:59I say placed on the apron.
00:35:01He was actually slammed gut first into the top rope.
00:35:05And referee Nick Patrick will begin the count.
00:35:08Benoit needs to get back in the ring.
00:35:10And Mr. Kennedy really just,
00:35:12well, I was going to say,
00:35:13a ton of confidence in Chris Benoit
00:35:16battling back with the right hands.
00:35:17And that's one thing you cannot take away from Chris Benoit.
00:35:20Look at that, using the fists.
00:35:22And Kennedy bounced off the top turnbuckle.
00:35:25Benoit going to the top rope.
00:35:27And Kennedy realizing he was in trouble, countered.
00:35:33The United States champion Chris Benoit
00:35:36in trouble in this non-title matchup.
00:35:40Superplex and the ring shakes.
00:35:44Cover him, that's it, Chris.
00:35:46Kennedy may have injured himself as well.
00:35:48Both men have left it all in the ring in this matchup.
00:35:52A lot of people don't realize that Superplex
00:35:54made first famous Bob Barry Wyndham.
00:35:56Hook of the leg, he may have Benoit here
00:35:58second week in a row.
00:35:59No.
00:36:00Takes as much out of the person giving it
00:36:02as it does the person receiving it a lot of times.
00:36:05Shamo, you've battled Benoit so much
00:36:07over the past few months for that United States title.
00:36:10What is the weakness, if any, of Chris Benoit?
00:36:13Oh, look at this, going for the crossface.
00:36:16Can he lock it in?
00:36:17Shamo, you know what that feels like.
00:36:19And Kennedy slips out of the way.
00:36:21I know what it feels like to get out of it also, Michael.
00:36:25The scary thing with Benoit
00:36:26is he can hit it with you at any time.
00:36:28It's like a Joe Frazier left hook.
00:36:30It can come from left field.
00:36:31It can come at any second.
00:36:33And the match is over if Chris Benoit hooks it.
00:36:35If any weakness Chris Benoit has
00:36:38is that he gets too focused.
00:36:40He gets too tunnel vision.
00:36:41He doesn't realize what's going on around him.
00:36:43I don't know if that's something to be upset about,
00:36:46as Kennedy tries to battle out of this predicament.
00:36:48Chris Benoit in trouble.
00:36:50Oh, Mr. Kennedy and Benoit,
00:36:52another physical battle here tonight
00:36:54on Friday Night SmackDown.
00:36:56Benoit going for that.
00:36:58Kennedy, again, cover, and Benoit this time.
00:37:01Benoit going for that sharpshooter,
00:37:03the legendary Stu Hart.
00:37:04Hooks the leg again, and a kick out.
00:37:06Is Kennedy a third near fall there
00:37:10as he continues to wear Benoit down?
00:37:12As Chavo knows, this is the one thing
00:37:14that is frustrating about wrestling Chris Benoit.
00:37:17The guy won't give up.
00:37:19No matter what you do,
00:37:20the guy is so pig-headed, so thick-headed.
00:37:23Benoit won't quit when it is in his best interest to do so.
00:37:27Knee driven to the spine.
00:37:28That's the thing with Chris Benoit.
00:37:29Here's the cover. Hook of the leg.
00:37:30Kick out at two again by Benoit.
00:37:32He's too tough for his own good,
00:37:34for his own mind.
00:37:36Well, he's staying in this matchup,
00:37:37and it's beginning to frustrate Kennedy
00:37:39that he can't put the United States champion away.
00:37:42Another backbreaker.
00:37:44Knee driven right to the back,
00:37:45and look at Kennedy trying to punish Benoit.
00:37:49Right after that superplex,
00:37:50you see Kennedy going after that lower back.
00:37:52That is smart.
00:37:53Same thing Chavo Guerrero did at Armageddon.
00:37:55You go after that lower back,
00:37:56he cannot move those hips when he gives you that German.
00:37:59John, let me ask you a question.
00:38:01What we've seen here in Kennedy this week and last week,
00:38:03has there been a change in the demeanor of Mr. Kennedy
00:38:06in the ring since he went through that last ride match
00:38:09with The Undertaker at Armageddon last month?
00:38:11Absolutely.
00:38:12He knows his time is short in the wrestling world.
00:38:15No matter how long you're here,
00:38:16whether you're Ric Flair or not,
00:38:17you take opportunities as you get a chance.
00:38:20Benoit tries to counter toward the crossface.
00:38:22Kennedy makes it to the ropes again.
00:38:24So what you're trying to tell me is,
00:38:26is Kennedy realizes that,
00:38:28well, after that last ride match,
00:38:30any match could be your last,
00:38:31and you've got to seize the opportunity when you have it.
00:38:34I know as well or better than anybody,
00:38:35any match can be your last.
00:38:37Absolutely.
00:38:38Kennedy knows that he has to take advantage of any shot,
00:38:41any chance he has.
00:38:43And yes, he has changed.
00:38:44Chris Benoit going for a second German suplex,
00:38:46and he's got it.
00:38:47Mr. Kennedy in trouble.
00:38:48Can Benoit connect with the hat trick?
00:38:51He does.
00:38:54Suddenly, Chris Benoit has turned momentum.
00:38:56He's going up top, Ken.
00:38:58You better pay attention to who's in the ring with you,
00:39:00because it's Kennedy.
00:39:01It's not me right now.
00:39:03Chris Benoit motioning into Chavo,
00:39:06heading to the top rope.
00:39:07Kennedy in trouble.
00:39:08Flying headbutt.
00:39:10Benoit connecting.
00:39:13Can Chris Benoit take advantage
00:39:15and put Mr. Kennedy away?
00:39:19How is Chris Benoit, Chavo,
00:39:21so damn upset with you that in the middle of this match,
00:39:24and it's a hell of a match,
00:39:25he finds time to point to you at ringside.
00:39:28Here's the cover by Benoit.
00:39:30He's got him, and Kennedy kicks off.
00:39:32He can point at me all he wants,
00:39:33but like I said before,
00:39:34he's got to keep his eyes on his opponent.
00:39:36Right now, he's facing somebody who's really, really tough,
00:39:38and that's going to be the downfall of Chris Benoit
00:39:40in this match if he doesn't focus on Kennedy.
00:39:43Chris Benoit is facing the man who has set the pace
00:39:46in the beat-the-clock sprint
00:39:48at 5 minutes, 7 seconds.
00:39:50Did you see how easily frazzled Chris Benoit was?
00:39:53I haven't even done anything.
00:39:54I'm just sitting here in commentary.
00:39:57He can't keep his mind off of me.
00:39:59Benoit caught up, top rope, Kennedy, cover,
00:40:02hooks the leg with authority, and a kick out again.
00:40:04And you heard that, that scream, frustration,
00:40:08coming out of the body of Kennedy.
00:40:09It looked like JBL.
00:40:12Keep your mind focused, Ken.
00:40:15Don't fall into the same trap as Chris Benoit.
00:40:17Keep your mind focused.
00:40:19I rarely ever, and I have faced hundreds,
00:40:21perhaps thousands of wrestlers in my career,
00:40:24I've rarely ever seen anybody, maybe no one,
00:40:27as resilient as Chris Benoit.
00:40:30Small package may happen.
00:40:31Shoulders down.
00:40:33Did Benoit get it?
00:40:34No, he did not.
00:40:35At 2, Kennedy kicked out and quickly back on the attack.
00:40:38And quite frankly, after that long layoff Chris had
00:40:41last summer, after a neck surgery he had years ago,
00:40:44I have never seen in Chris's great career
00:40:47him better than he is right now.
00:40:49Hook of the leg.
00:40:50Mr. Kennedy trying to put the champion away.
00:40:53But that right there, that kick out by Benoit
00:40:56tells you what Benoit's all about.
00:40:58He's about heart.
00:40:59He's about never giving up.
00:41:00He's about 150% every step of the way.
00:41:08Wow.
00:41:09Planting Benoit.
00:41:11He calls it the canton.
00:41:14And that is what he's going for.
00:41:16Trying to climb the top rope.
00:41:17And Chris Benoit realizing it.
00:41:19Cuts Kennedy off the pad.
00:41:23Wow.
00:41:25Chavo, he felt those like I do.
00:41:27It's like getting hit from the inside it hurts so bad.
00:41:31You are not kidding.
00:41:32I felt those on several occasions.
00:41:34What a physical matchup this has been
00:41:35between these two great superstars here on SmackDown.
00:41:38These guys are going at it like superstars
00:41:40are supposed to go at it.
00:41:42This is why SmackDown is the number one brand
00:41:45and why ratings and me are blowing through the roof.
00:41:48Rarely do you see that out of Mr. Kennedy.
00:41:50A missile dropkick.
00:41:52Kennedy take advantage.
00:41:54Crawls to the cover.
00:41:55Hooks the leg.
00:41:56Benoit in trouble.
00:41:57And Benoit the veteran with a wherewithal.
00:41:59Kennedy is showing why he has defeated six world champions.
00:42:04You pull out something like a missile dropkick
00:42:06off the top rope when you have to do it.
00:42:08Yeah, but how about the fact that Chris Benoit
00:42:10is still in this matchup.
00:42:11That after all the punishment he's absorbed
00:42:13he's still going in this thing.
00:42:14I told you Chris is pig at it.
00:42:16He's thick at it.
00:42:17He doesn't know when to quit
00:42:18even when it's his own disinterest.
00:42:20That's why these fans cheer so hard for Benoit.
00:42:23Mr. Kennedy going to the top rope.
00:42:25We've seen Kennedy fly before.
00:42:27He's measuring his man.
00:42:29Whip of the kicks.
00:42:30And Benoit rolls out of the way.
00:42:33This could be the opening that the United States champion needs.
00:42:36This could be the opening.
00:42:37This is anybody's ballgame.
00:42:38Chavo Guerrero looking on.
00:42:40Would love to see the United States champion
00:42:43beaten apart here.
00:42:45But Benoit is battling back.
00:42:50German suplex to Kennedy.
00:42:51This is impressive.
00:42:52These guys have been going at it for 20 minutes
00:42:54and still Benoit has this much left in the tank.
00:42:57Well, Benoit has something to prove.
00:42:59He was cheated out of the beat the clock sprint match
00:43:02last week by this same Mr. Kennedy.
00:43:06And fourth German suplex.
00:43:09How much did this take out of you, John?
00:43:11Four now.
00:43:12Five German suplexes.
00:43:14Kennedy has no idea where he's at right now.
00:43:18None.
00:43:19Uh-oh.
00:43:20Chris Benoit setting Mr. Kennedy up.
00:43:23Perhaps for the sharpshooter.
00:43:25Made famous by WWE Hall of Famer Brooklyn Hitman Hart.
00:43:28He's got to roll Kennedy on his belly.
00:43:31And he does.
00:43:33He's got him in the middle of the ring.
00:43:34Where the hell are you going?
00:43:36Chavo causing a destruction at Benoit.
00:43:41Bringing Chavo in the hard way.
00:43:43And Benoit's headed up.
00:43:48Benoit went for the sharpshooter.
00:43:50Kennedy rolls him up.
00:43:51Kennedy's got the tights.
00:43:53Kennedy's got the tights.
00:43:54And Kennedy stole another one.
00:43:57Dammit.
00:43:59Here's your winner, Mr. Kennedy.
00:44:03He's watching by Chavo.
00:44:05And Kennedy used the tights to knock off Benoit again.
00:44:08His sixth world champion.
00:44:10Kennedy has defeated Benoit again.
00:44:13And Chris Benoit has had it.
00:44:15Benoit has had it with Chavo Guerrero.
00:44:18And the emotional explosion is underway at ringside.
00:44:23And look at Chavo.
00:44:24And that's all you got to know about Chavo Guerrero, John.
00:44:28Chavo Guerrero running away from a fight that he started.
00:44:32He's not running away.
00:44:33Well, where's he going?
00:44:34Chris Benoit attacked him.
00:44:36He attacked him.
00:44:37And he did the right thing.
00:44:39And this is why Benoit attacked him.
00:44:40Discretion is the better part of valor.
00:44:42That is why Benoit attacked Chavo.
00:44:44The distraction.
00:44:46How do you know that Chavo wasn't going to the ring to congratulate Benoit?
00:44:50Oh, my God.
00:44:51Okay, 1985, color commentator.
00:44:55What are you talking about?
00:44:56He's got the cut room.
00:44:57The plate is dead.
00:44:581785, Sigmund Freud.
00:45:01Do you read minds now?
00:45:03Chris Benoit frustrated, I'm sure, after what happened here tonight.
00:45:08At the hands of Chavo Guerrero.
00:45:10Benoit was moments away, perhaps, from making Mr. Kennedy tap out to the sharpshooter.
00:45:15Well, ladies and gentlemen, up next, we continue our in-depth look at the evolution of the animal.
00:45:21Batiste deploys for an incredible comeback last year.
00:45:24He climbs back to the top of the mountain when we return to Friday Night SmackDown.
00:45:33We are back on Friday Night SmackDown.
00:45:35Ladies and gentlemen, the show rolls on with the Beat the Clock Sprint.
00:45:39Remember, the winner, to get an opportunity at the world champion, Batiste at the Royal Rumble.
00:45:43The time to beat, the pace setter, is still Mr. Kennedy.
00:45:47Five minutes and seven seconds.
00:45:49Can he do it?
00:45:50But the question, Michael, is, we still have MVP coming up.
00:45:54We still have The Undertaker coming up.
00:45:56But we don't know who else is going to be out here tonight.
00:45:59Again, ladies and gentlemen, the winner to get an opportunity to face Batiste for the world championship
00:46:04at the Royal Rumble.
00:46:06And speaking of the animal, Batiste, last week we began a very special look at the evolution of an animal.
00:46:11When we left you last week, Batiste had surrendered the championship due to injury.
00:46:16We pick it up here tonight on Friday Night SmackDown.
00:46:21The animal, oh my!
00:46:22Wait a minute.
00:46:23Oh my! It's Mark Henry!
00:46:25Oh my!
00:46:33Oh no!
00:46:34Oh no!
00:46:35Oh no!
00:46:36A steel door off the skull of Batiste!
00:46:41Mark Henry just flat out destroyed Batiste.
00:46:45The animal is here!
00:46:49Ladies and gentlemen, Batiste!
00:47:04Mark Henry, get out here now!
00:47:08And here we go!
00:47:11And here's Batiste!
00:47:13It's on!
00:47:14It's on!
00:47:15The animal unloading on Mark Henry!
00:47:22And Mark Henry's been busted open.
00:47:24Look at the look in the eyes of that man!
00:47:26Batiste has completely snapped!
00:47:41Mark Henry is motionless!
00:47:44Batiste is out of his cage!
00:47:47The animal has been unleashed!
00:47:54Every time I walk through that curtain, it is the thrill of my life.
00:48:02At WrestleMania 21, I realized a lifelong dream when I became world heavyweight champion.
00:48:11Ten months ago, I was injured.
00:48:15One of the saddest days of my life.
00:48:17I was forced to surrender my title.
00:48:22Ever since that day, oh yeah, I've been on a mission.
00:48:25A mission to reclaim my title.
00:48:30Who the hell do you think you are, Batiste?
00:48:33It doesn't matter.
00:48:35Because over and over again, the result will always be the same.
00:48:41I am the victor, King Batista!
00:48:46If Batiste loses, he will have no more opportunities at the world heavyweight title.
00:48:53Always!
00:48:56Look at that!
00:48:57Booker tried to use the championship!
00:48:59Batiste ducked underneath and uses the title himself!
00:49:02Batiste is the new world champion!
00:49:08The near year-long journey is over.
00:49:10The animal rules the SmackDown kingdom again.
00:49:20It is the moment that we've all been waiting for.
00:49:24It is the moment that everyone in this business dreams about.
00:49:27It is the moment that you live for from the day you first start watching sports entertainment
00:49:32to being world champion.
00:49:37The following contest is scheduled for one fall.
00:49:40And it is for the WWE Tag Team Championship!
00:49:44In the ring, at a combined weight of 369 pounds,
00:49:49And the tag team champions, Paul London and Brian Kendrick!
00:49:54And for the team of London and Kendrick, it's all about the tag team titles
00:49:59and continuing their eight-month reign at the top.
00:50:02Nobody would have dared dream that eight months ago they would still be
00:50:06the flag bearer for the tag team division on SmackDown.
00:50:10But these two young guys have earned every minute of it.
00:50:13But that reign may end tonight.
00:50:15And the challengers, at a combined weight of 485 pounds,
00:50:20Dave Taylor and William Regal!
00:50:23Ladies and gentlemen, the WWE Tag Team titles are on the line.
00:50:27And remember what Regal and Taylor told London and Kendrick moments ago.
00:50:32It's not a ladder match. It's a wrestling match.
00:50:35For the tag team gold, next.
00:50:40We are back on Friday Night SmackDown.
00:50:42WWE Tag Team titles are on the line here.
00:50:45Let's set the parameters, so to speak.
00:50:47You got London and Kendrick, the tag champs since Judgment Day last May
00:50:51against, well, Regal and Taylor, who will beat these two kids up if they can.
00:50:56They will beat them up. They can get their hands on them.
00:50:58Regal and Taylor, both in a ladder match, scared of heights.
00:51:03I'm not sure I've ever seen anybody that tough like Regal and Taylor
00:51:07are scared of something like they were climbing a ladder.
00:51:10But there's no ladders to climb right now.
00:51:13Taylor taking out Brian Kendrick.
00:51:15Both these men starting the match up with Johns.
00:51:17Referring to shoulders down is, last month on Armageddon,
00:51:20it was that four-team ladder match.
00:51:22The Hardys, Eminem, Regal and Taylor, and of course, London and Kendrick.
00:51:26And, well, that night in Armageddon, in my mind,
00:51:29is really when London and Kendrick arrived as a team.
00:51:32Really, well, solidified their top spot here on SmackDown.
00:51:36You no longer had the excuse that they didn't have competition.
00:51:39You had three other great tag teams, all former champions.
00:51:44They wrestled that night, and London and Kendrick came out on top
00:51:47in what was an absolute burn-burning classic at Armageddon.
00:51:52I mean, what's not to like about London and Kendrick?
00:51:55Five flyers, they're great champions.
00:51:57And they bring Ashley.
00:51:59Stole my line.
00:52:00Well, she's a woman. I thought I'd talk about her.
00:52:02Ashley, of course, in the April-ish little playboy.
00:52:05Comes out in mid-March, right around WrestleMania time.
00:52:08I can't wait.
00:52:09Cover girl.
00:52:10I can't wait.
00:52:11And look at this.
00:52:12London ripped across the ring. Tag team titles on the line.
00:52:14London lands on his feet.
00:52:16And this is what London and Kendrick have to do, John.
00:52:18They've got to keep Regal and Taylor off balance throughout the matchup.
00:52:21Absolutely. One thing that Regal and Taylor are good at,
00:52:24they grew up fighting for money, is throwing fists with somebody.
00:52:28That's what London and Kendrick don't need to do.
00:52:30Double team, quick cover, hooks the leg, Regal kicks out.
00:52:33And to do that, Mago, you've got to create distance from your opponent.
00:52:36That's what London and Kendrick need to do this entire match,
00:52:39is simply not be too close to Regal and Taylor.
00:52:43And the thing about London and Kendrick is, each and every week,
00:52:46they continue to gain confidence.
00:52:48I really think these tag team champions don't think they can be beat.
00:52:53They are. I'll tell you what.
00:52:54They are as exciting a team as I've seen.
00:52:56And I have seen these guys are a car crash waiting to happen.
00:53:00Enjoy them right now, Michael.
00:53:02They may not be around long, but as long as they're here,
00:53:04we're going to have a heck of a good time watching them.
00:53:07Kendrick makes the tag.
00:53:08Frequent tags between London and Kendrick.
00:53:10Check out this teamwork.
00:53:11And they bring it.
00:53:13John, former tag team champion on a number of occasions yourself.
00:53:16Here's the cover by London.
00:53:18And a kick out.
00:53:19London and Kendrick style.
00:53:21The frequent tags in and out.
00:53:22I mean, textbook tag team wrestling.
00:53:24Textbook tag team wrestling.
00:53:25I wrestled the Road Warriors.
00:53:27Ron Simmons and I were one of the best tag teams of all time.
00:53:30A tag team is simply a different form of wrestling than singles.
00:53:34And Regal with that big clothesline taking London out.
00:53:37John, you were a powerhouse team, much like Regal and Taylor are.
00:53:41If you and Ron Simmons, APA, had to take on London and Kendrick,
00:53:46how would you battle the tag team champs?
00:53:48Very simple.
00:53:49We'd annihilate them.
00:53:51We'd beat them up.
00:53:52We'd beat them up, beat them.
00:53:53Ron would dominate one-on-one clothesline from the hill.
00:53:56And we'd leave and go have a beer.
00:53:57You'd have to get to it first though.
00:53:59You've got to cut off the ring.
00:54:01It's simple mathematics at that point.
00:54:03You cut off the ring.
00:54:04You isolate them two-on-one.
00:54:05You don't let their high fly.
00:54:06Remember, we fought the Hardys when they were the high flyers of their day.
00:54:10We did very well against them because that's what you do.
00:54:13You cut off the ring.
00:54:14You realize your strength.
00:54:15Here's the cover.
00:54:16Tag team titles are on the line.
00:54:17And a kick out.
00:54:20London surviving there.
00:54:22Taylor thought he had Paul London.
00:54:25This is how you win a championship.
00:54:27This is what these two guys have been waiting for.
00:54:29Regal said he would never be a laughing stock here at SmackDown again,
00:54:33and he meant it.
00:54:34And look at how the veteran Regal drew the referee to him,
00:54:37sent him to the corner where Kendrick was complaining,
00:54:40and allowed the double T.
00:54:41It's ringsmanship.
00:54:42That is simply what it is.
00:54:44And there's nothing that the referee can do about that.
00:54:47I mean, it's classic tag team.
00:54:51And this is how you ground a high flyer.
00:54:53This is textbook by Regal.
00:54:55And Paul London is in trouble.
00:54:57And the thing about Regal and Taylor, John,
00:54:59much the way that you and Farouk used to work in the ring,
00:55:02is that every single thing that these guys do hurts their opponent.
00:55:06There's no lolly-dagging around.
00:55:08I mean, everything.
00:55:09They drive a forearm into the jaw, a knee into the temple.
00:55:11Everything is physical.
00:55:13There's no wasted movement.
00:55:14Farouk and I did nothing wrong.
00:55:16Everything is physical.
00:55:17There's no wasted movement.
00:55:19Farouk and I did nothing pretty.
00:55:20We beat people up,
00:55:22and that's the same thing that Regal and Taylor love to do
00:55:25and are very good at it.
00:55:27Oh, look at that.
00:55:28Not pretty.
00:55:29Did you hear that?
00:55:30Just effective.
00:55:31Did you hear that?
00:55:32I love it.
00:55:33Sound of contact.
00:55:34Smash mouth wrestling.
00:55:35This is how you're supposed to do it.
00:55:37Regal and Taylor obviously had a game plan.
00:55:39I'll tell you something.
00:55:40All you pretty boys out there that want to get into wrestling,
00:55:42all of you think you can walk out here, get in a ring,
00:55:45make a ton of money.
00:55:46Cover by Taylor.
00:55:47Tag team title.
00:55:48He's seen by all your buddies at some sports bar at home.
00:55:51I suggest you watch Regal and Taylor right now
00:55:53and have second thoughts about it
00:55:55because these guys, quite frankly, will beat your ass.
00:55:58And Regal and Taylor,
00:55:59one of the things they wanted in Kendrick earlier on tonight,
00:56:02they said, hey, this is not a ladder match.
00:56:04You're in our element tonight.
00:56:06It is a wrestling match, and it will be physical.
00:56:09Regal and Taylor are seasoned.
00:56:12Taylor's dad, Eric Taylor,
00:56:14was the world champion in the U.K. for 17 straight years.
00:56:19It's in his blood.
00:56:21And Regal off the tag.
00:56:24Paul London has absorbed a tremendous amount of punishment.
00:56:28Really has got to get to his partner, Brian Kendrick,
00:56:30or this tag team title reign may be closing from here and end.
00:56:35When you're 15 years old and you're a kid in Blackpool
00:56:38and you've got to win a fight to have money to eat the next day
00:56:41like Regal grew up, you learn how to win when you fight.
00:56:46It's not pretty. It's about results.
00:56:48When it's about eating lunch the next day,
00:56:50you damn sure learn how to get the job done.
00:56:53Yeah, but when you're London and Kendrick,
00:56:55and look at London. He may have Regal here.
00:56:57Shoulders down and a kick out.
00:56:58But when you're London and Kendrick, John, I mean,
00:57:01oh, and there's a knee right to the side of the head.
00:57:03You're underdogs as well your whole career.
00:57:05Your whole career London and Kendrick have been battling
00:57:07to just try to get some respect in this business,
00:57:09and they've done that.
00:57:11I'm not taking anything away from London and Kendrick.
00:57:13Eight months they have reigned as tag team champions.
00:57:16One of the best tag team reigns in recent memory.
00:57:20Taking nothing away from them.
00:57:21What I'm saying is I like Regal and Taylor.
00:57:25The guys are old-fashioned, in-your-face, beat you up.
00:57:30And that is what I like about this business.
00:57:33There's that constant trash talking,
00:57:35just getting in their opponents' heads.
00:57:37Look at this. London's got no leverage whatsoever.
00:57:40Taylor's got him beat back and just beating him up.
00:57:43This is simply effective.
00:57:45If you want pretty, go somewhere else.
00:57:47If you want the best in this business,
00:57:49turn on SmackDown on Friday nights.
00:57:51And here on Friday night SmackDown,
00:57:53the WWE tag team titles are on the line.
00:57:56Paul London and Brian Kendrick have held those titles
00:57:59for eight months.
00:58:00The challenges, the very physical veteran team
00:58:03of William Regal and Dave Taylor.
00:58:07And the champions are being tossed around like rag dolls.
00:58:10They have been tossed around like rag dolls.
00:58:12Regal and Taylor have the momentum.
00:58:14Right now, if you're judging on points,
00:58:16Regal and Taylor win.
00:58:17And right now, I've got to put money on Regal and Taylor
00:58:21walking out of here the tag team champions.
00:58:24I'm going to have to agree with you there, partner,
00:58:26because Paul London, look at this.
00:58:27And I'm not your partner, all right?
00:58:28I'm not your friend.
00:58:29I'm simply a guy doing commentary with you.
00:58:31Speaking of partners, Paul London's got to get to his.
00:58:34He's got to get to Brian Kendrick.
00:58:35Paul London lands on his feet.
00:58:37And William Regal, did he get there?
00:58:39He did.
00:58:40Paul London made the tag.
00:58:41And Brian Kendrick into the ring.
00:58:43Regal tried to thwart London's tag and couldn't do it.
00:58:46And here comes Brian Kendrick.
00:58:50London had to make the tag, John.
00:58:52And boy, did he ever.
00:58:54This is where Kendrick and London both are good.
00:58:57But is it going to be enough?
00:58:59Kendrick with a heel to the jaw.
00:59:01William Regal looks right into the kick.
00:59:04Here's the cover.
00:59:05Hook of the leg.
00:59:06And Dave Taylor with the wherewithal to pull the champion off the cover.
00:59:12The problem, though, Kendrick may need his partner.
00:59:14Is his partner able to help him if he does need it?
00:59:17I don't know where Paul London is.
00:59:18Here's the cover again.
00:59:19Hook of the leg.
00:59:21There's Taylor breaking up the three count.
00:59:23Because if it's two on one, Kendrick loses.
00:59:27Here's the cross body.
00:59:31Lateral press.
00:59:32Regal rolls through.
00:59:33Will we have two tag team champions right now?
00:59:35And in the nick of time, Paul London saved the titles.
00:59:38Where the hell did he come from?
00:59:40I'm not sure he knows where the hell he is.
00:59:42Look at him.
00:59:43Perhaps out of pure instinct, Paul London saved the championship.
00:59:48And look at Brian Kendrick.
00:59:50Backslide.
00:59:51Shoulders down.
00:59:52Does he have it?
00:59:53He's got it.
00:59:54Look at London.
00:59:55Did it again.
00:59:56Can you believe it?
00:59:58Here are your winners and still tag team champions, Paul London and Brian Kendrick.
01:00:07Regal and Taylor for sure can't believe it.
01:00:09Quite frankly, Michael, I can't either.
01:00:11I really thought this was Regal and Taylor's match.
01:00:13For the first time in eight months, I say London and Kendrick pulled off a heck of an upset.
01:00:18William Regal and Dave Taylor dominated this matchup.
01:00:22I mean dominated.
01:00:23And somehow London and Kendrick dug down deep inside to continue the reign as tag team champions.
01:00:31Ladies and gentlemen, coming up in just a few moments is the return to action here on Friday Night SmackDown
01:00:37of Montel Montavious Porter, who of course was injured in the Inferno Match at Armageddon.
01:00:46The following contest is the Inferno Match.
01:00:51The only way to win this match is to set your opponent on fire.
01:00:58This will be the biggest and the baddest Inferno Match ever.
01:01:02The flames will actually creep up to an eight foot level at times with 500 degree heat here at ringside.
01:01:09And look at Kane.
01:01:11He's actually at home right now.
01:01:15MVP close to the flames.
01:01:18MVP is on fire.
01:01:20Somebody stop him.
01:01:21Oh my God.
01:01:22MVP is on fire.
01:01:26Somebody put him out for God's sakes.
01:01:33Can you imagine?
01:01:34My God, the flames.
01:01:36Montel Montavious Porter was burned here tonight.
01:01:41In what condition will MVP be in when he gets set to try to beat the clock coming up next?
01:01:49The pace has been set by Mr. Kennedy.
01:01:51Who will beat the clock if anyone tonight?
01:01:58Join me right here for more Friday Night SmackDown.
01:02:03Still to come.
01:02:11We are back on Friday Night SmackDown.
01:02:14And there you hear the ticking of the clock.
01:02:16It means MVP, but it also means another beat the clock sprint matchup.
01:02:21And the question I have for you is this, John.
01:02:23What condition will Montel Montavious Porter be in tonight?
01:02:28Still banished up following that Inferno Match.
01:02:31That answers your question right there, Michael.
01:02:33I've been in contact with MVP all week long.
01:02:36I've tried to talk him out of doing this.
01:02:40But he understands how much these SmackDown fans love to see him.
01:02:45And because of that, he's doing it for these fans.
01:03:02Because of the SmackDown fans, give me a break.
01:03:04MVP wants to be in this matchup.
01:03:06So he can face Batiste in the Royal Rumble for the world title.
01:03:09He even said last week that it's his destiny to battle for the championship.
01:03:13He deserves to be in this.
01:03:15And he deserves to fight Batiste in the Royal Rumble.
01:03:17Ladies and gentlemen, tonight's Friday Night SmackDown is sponsored by Subway.
01:03:21Eat fresh.
01:03:22And by Verizon Wireless.
01:03:24And by Universal Pictures Alpha Dog.
01:03:27Now in theaters.
01:03:31And Michael, in the histories of heroes in America.
01:03:34Audie Murphy.
01:03:35Private York.
01:03:36MVP now belongs up there with him.
01:03:39And who's MVP's opponent going to be?
01:03:41Random drawing for the beat the clock split matchup.
01:03:43I'll tell you what, it's not fair.
01:03:44This guy is the SmackDown.
01:03:46What the hell?
01:03:48You've got to be kidding me.
01:03:49Oh, no.
01:03:50No.
01:03:51No.
01:03:52No.
01:03:54So, if you're MVP.
01:03:56And from SmackDown, New York, weighing in at 245 pounds, Vito.
01:04:02If you're MVP, not only do you got to worry about burns on your back.
01:04:05Now you got to worry about a guy running around in a dress.
01:04:08Was Fnaki busy?
01:04:10Could Jimmel not find his trunks?
01:04:12What the hell?
01:04:14And we got Vito in here with a potential chance to have a world championship match with Batiste.
01:04:20Because it's totally random.
01:04:22Totally random is not how I would describe Vito.
01:04:25Totally something random is not the word.
01:04:30There you see the clock.
01:04:31That is the time to beat.
01:04:32Five minutes, seven seconds.
01:04:33If one of these men can end this matchup before that time runs out, they will set the pace.
01:04:38For an opportunity to face Batiste at the Rumble.
01:04:41Elbow tie up.
01:04:43MVP with the right hands.
01:04:44Vito with the right of his own.
01:04:45Mr. Kennedy sets the pace.
01:04:47We know he's here tonight.
01:04:48We saw him in action.
01:04:49Said he admitted that he was going to watch all these matches to see if anybody could beat the clock.
01:04:57Oh, look at this.
01:04:58MVP would be severely burned.
01:05:00MVP, he's got a month for his wounds to heal because he could be stepping in there with Batiste.
01:05:05But MVP may be getting the opportunity of a lifetime.
01:05:08Here's the cover.
01:05:09Kick out.
01:05:10You see MVP favoring that back every time he does some physical activity toward Vito.
01:05:15MVP telling us last week, JBL, that he needed 24-hour medical attention.
01:05:20And Vito targeting the burned back.
01:05:23And that is wise strategy by Vito.
01:05:26Here's the cover.
01:05:27Vito maybe.
01:05:28That's not fair.
01:05:29That is not fair.
01:05:32Kennedy realizing JBL.
01:05:34And here's the cover again.
01:05:35That MVP is injured.
01:05:36And that Vito may be just seconds away from beating the clock.
01:05:40Wait, wait, wait.
01:05:41What did you just say?
01:05:42He may be seconds away from beating the clock.
01:05:44MVP is not 100%.
01:05:46Vito could be in a world championship match, a main event.
01:05:49Yeah, OK.
01:05:50Let me tell you something.
01:05:51If Vito does that, I quit the business.
01:05:53I burn my boots.
01:05:55Burn that ring down.
01:05:56Not a hell with that.
01:05:57If Vito's in a world championship match, that's it.
01:06:00I'm done.
01:06:01Why?
01:06:02Because it is a desecration to sports entertainment,
01:06:04to every wrestler who has ever laced their boots for a man in a dress,
01:06:08a damn dress, to be in a world championship match.
01:06:11Well, maybe MVP, your good buddy.
01:06:13It is sickening.
01:06:14Here's the cover by MVP.
01:06:15Shoulders down and a kick out.
01:06:16Maybe your good buddy, MVP, who goes for another cover here
01:06:19and another kick out.
01:06:20Maybe MVP shouldn't have been so selfish.
01:06:22Maybe if he knew he wasn't 100%, he shouldn't have been in this damn thing
01:06:25in the first place.
01:06:26He's a competitor.
01:06:27You can't ask a man to quit being a man.
01:06:30And Vito's a competitor as well.
01:06:32And just because he's wearing a dress doesn't mean he's not a man.
01:06:35You could ask him to start being a man if you're drinking, buddy.
01:06:38Near fall after near fall.
01:06:40The clock is ticking away under three minutes for one of these men
01:06:43to pick up a victory.
01:06:44Either pinfall, either pinfall.
01:06:45You know what's so bad about this?
01:06:46No, no, no.
01:06:47Don't cut me off, idiot.
01:06:48You cut me off.
01:06:49I don't care.
01:06:50What is so bad about this?
01:06:51You are robbing MVP of his destiny.
01:06:54And that is competing in this hurt state because he's competing.
01:06:57Here's the cover.
01:06:58Hook of the leg.
01:06:59MVP's the one who volunteered.
01:07:00Against a man in a dress.
01:07:02John, John, MVP volunteered to be here tonight.
01:07:05He put himself into this.
01:07:07But he deserves heroism.
01:07:10What if Rommel hadn't shown up to fight Pac?
01:07:13John, I deserve a better partner out here every week.
01:07:16But I didn't get that.
01:07:17I don't complain about it.
01:07:18Here's the cover.
01:07:19And a kick out at two.
01:07:20You deserve a cyanide tablet is what you deserve.
01:07:23And MVP with a clock ticking down nearing the two-minute mark.
01:07:26Again, Kennedy sets the pace.
01:07:28And you can have the short guy back if you want him.
01:07:30And MVP Montel Montavious Porter in trouble.
01:07:35And Vito again with the right hands.
01:07:37Vito or MVP.
01:07:39Now, look, acknowledge this, Michael.
01:07:41Acknowledge how heroic this is that MVP is even out here.
01:07:45Acknowledge it.
01:07:46It's not heroic, but it is extraordinary.
01:07:48I'll give you that.
01:07:49The man was burned.
01:07:51Spent nearly a few weeks in a burn unit.
01:07:53Look at this.
01:07:54Vito trying to pull the tight smart move by Vito.
01:07:56And you don't call that heroic?
01:07:57Look at this.
01:07:58Shooting half and a kick out by MVP.
01:07:59And why are these fans not acknowledging how great MVP is?
01:08:03They don't like the guy.
01:08:05He's arrogant.
01:08:06And Vito going for the arm bar.
01:08:08Remember, submission counts in this state.
01:08:10And MVP's got Vito tied up as well.
01:08:12But it looks to be looking this way.
01:08:14This is competition.
01:08:15MVP has not cheated one time.
01:08:17And yet, time after time, Vito has gone after that burn
01:08:20because that's all he can do.
01:08:21He's done everything but pinch him and pull his hair
01:08:24like you would expect a man in a dress to do.
01:08:26Kick out as the clock continues to tick near the one-minute mark.
01:08:29Hey, you're the guy who was out here earlier on
01:08:31saying you've got to do what you can to beat the clock.
01:08:33You've got to cheat, put a thumb in the eye,
01:08:35break the rules, do whatever you can.
01:08:37So, why can't Vito go after the injured back?
01:08:39That's what you have to do.
01:08:40Wow.
01:08:41Boot to the jaw.
01:08:42MVP may have knocked Vito out.
01:08:44He may beat the clock.
01:08:45The pace may be set.
01:08:46The pace may be set by MVP.
01:08:48And Vito just kicked out at two.
01:08:50Wow.
01:08:51You can feel the angst, John.
01:08:52Watch this.
01:08:53You can feel this blue tooth.
01:08:54That right there is the guy who can carry SmackDown one day.
01:08:59Here's the gut wrench.
01:09:00Gut wrench again.
01:09:01Hook of the leg.
01:09:02Vito kicks out at two.
01:09:03Get him, MVP.
01:09:04Get him.
01:09:05Well, he's only got 36 seconds and counting to do it.
01:09:06MVP's back is killing him.
01:09:08And yet, he knows he has half a minute to fulfill his destiny.
01:09:11Vito whipped off the ropes.
01:09:13MVP slamming Vito down.
01:09:15Forget about the pain.
01:09:16If he's as heroic as he say he is, he'll pick up the victory here.
01:09:19Hook to the arm.
01:09:20He's going to do it.
01:09:21What do you mean heroic as he says he is?
01:09:22He's in the ring, isn't he?
01:09:23Yeah.
01:09:24He's got 15 seconds to put Vito away.
01:09:25The clock is ticking away.
01:09:27Hooks the leg again.
01:09:28Again, Vito battles out.
01:09:29Come on, MVP.
01:09:30Tail referee.
01:09:31Damn it.
01:09:32MVP checking the clock.
01:09:33Realizes the clock is ticking down.
01:09:34Vito.
01:09:35Look at this.
01:09:36Vito may have it.
01:09:37Vito.
01:09:38No.
01:09:39No.
01:09:40Jackman.
01:09:41Jackman.
01:09:42Cover.
01:09:43And nobody will beat the clock.
01:09:44It's at the pace.
01:09:45If Vito would have won, Jack Briscoe, Lou Fez, Arnie Scullin would have all committed
01:09:51Harry Caray.
01:09:52Well, there's your hero.
01:09:53There's your hero.
01:09:54You're damn right it is.
01:09:55The match is a stalemate.
01:09:56And here's your hero.
01:09:57You had Vito.
01:09:58This is deserved.
01:09:59You had Vito go after those third degree burns.
01:10:00A completely unsportsmanlike.
01:10:01And here's what.
01:10:02Not his back.
01:10:03Wow.
01:10:05MVP lying in pain.
01:10:06Come on.
01:10:07Somebody come down and help him.
01:10:08Somebody come help MVP.
01:10:09Where's Teddy Long now?
01:10:10Where's the justice in this?
01:10:11The guy gives everything he has and more for these fans.
01:10:12And Teddy Long sits on his duff backstage and doesn't do anything for his fans.
01:10:13And here's Vito.
01:10:14Vito.
01:10:15Vito.

01:11:59something or someone or something that can finally do it, John Cena.
01:12:05King, this is the second night in a row that John Cena will take on a super heavyweight.
01:12:11This giant may finish off John Cena.
01:12:17Estrada with a folding chair.
01:12:21John Cena using the folding chair on Khali.
01:12:25The hook and cross from Khali to the bottom line.
01:12:30Oh, this is scary, JR.
01:12:35Who the hell is Estrada motioning to?
01:12:38Oh, my God, it's Umaga.
01:12:40Coachman sending in Umaga.
01:12:43Umaga, here to tip the booms.
01:12:47Oh, my God, he hit it.
01:12:52That's Samoa's fight.
01:12:53Look at Samoa's fight.
01:12:54Cena's a dire strength here.
01:13:07Ladies and gentlemen, we're back on what has been a wild Friday night SmackDown.
01:13:10Huge news is just in from the general manager's office,
01:13:13and it all is because of what happened earlier tonight between Chris Benoit and Chavo Guerrero.
01:13:18It was Benoit versus Mr. Kennedy.
01:13:20Benoit going for the victory with a sharpshooter,
01:13:22when Chavo, who was with us on commentary,
01:13:24decided to stick his nose where it didn't belong again.
01:13:28Benoit had it six feet deep.
01:13:30Kennedy really had no way out of it until Chavo Guerrero gets involved.
01:13:35Yeah, and Mr. Kennedy would pick up the victory using the tights,
01:13:38but Chris Benoit had had enough.
01:13:41And finally, after losing his matchup and being screwed again by Chavo Guerrero,
01:13:45Benoit would chase Guerrero out of the arena.
01:13:48And here is the huge news from the general manager's office.
01:13:51Next week, United States Championship.
01:13:54No disqualification.
01:13:56And this is what I like, Michael.
01:13:57This is what we do on SmackDown.
01:13:59We're going to see a culmination between the two.
01:14:03Chavo Guerrero and Chris Benoit next week.
01:14:08Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my guest at this time.
01:14:11He is the world heavyweight champion, Batista.
01:14:17Batista, in all likelihood, the winner of the Beat the Clock Sprint
01:14:20will be Mr. Kennedy or The Undertaker.
01:14:24Can I have your thoughts on possibly facing either one of these challenges
01:14:28at the Royal Rumble?
01:14:30You know, Mr. Kennedy, he's got a big mouth.
01:14:33He talks way too much.
01:14:36But the fact is that since he's come to SmackDown,
01:14:39he's beaten six guys who have held this world heavyweight title.
01:14:43Six guys, including myself.
01:14:46So I would never look past, never underestimate Mr. Kennedy.
01:14:52As far as facing The Undertaker goes.
01:15:03Well, that would be a first.
01:15:45So
01:15:50do
01:16:10the following is a beat the clock sprint match.
01:16:14Making his way to the ring, from Death Valley,
01:16:17weighing in at 305 pounds,
01:16:21The Undertaker!
01:16:25It is indeed the final match in the Beat the Clock Sprint.
01:16:29JBL, you know, The Undertaker realizes
01:16:32the time to beat is five minutes, seven seconds.
01:16:36Big stars, big players come through in big moments,
01:16:39and there is no guy who has delivered more often
01:16:42and more consistently over the years
01:16:44than this guy right here, The Undertaker.
01:16:51I really believe, Michael,
01:16:53that time of five minutes plus change
01:16:57is in serious jeopardy here with The Undertaker,
01:17:01especially depending upon his opponents.
01:17:04You don't know who it is.
01:17:05Again, the formula for the past two weeks
01:17:07is that this is a random drawing.
01:17:10The Undertaker does not know who his opponent's
01:17:12gonna be in this matchup.
01:17:18Somewhere in the locker room area,
01:17:20Mr. Kennedy must be sweating bullets,
01:17:23realizing that his time-steady pace could be close to over.
01:17:27Somewhere in the locker room area have been guys
01:17:29that have had to stay warm for the last two hours,
01:17:31not knowing if they're gonna wrestle,
01:17:33not knowing who they're gonna wrestle.
01:17:35Somebody is backstage right now,
01:17:37about to have the face-to-face match.
01:17:40Yeah, I was gonna say, not only are you not warmed up,
01:17:43now you gotta go into the ring
01:17:44against the legendary Undertaker.
01:17:49And you've got five minutes of change to beat him,
01:17:54or else you don't get the shot at Batista.
01:17:57A world championship.
01:17:58Talk about a mountain to climb.
01:18:00A world championship opportunity hangs in the balance.
01:18:03Who will it be?
01:18:04This guy, Undertaker, has been a four-time world champion.
01:18:08Oh, my, this is great, this is great, this is great!
01:18:12We got him, I love it, I love it!
01:18:14From Cleveland, Ohio, weighing in at 231 pounds,
01:18:20The Miz!
01:18:21That sleeve-stacked, red-rooster-looking,
01:18:24reality-show goofball, The Miz,
01:18:27now has to step in the ring with a feet-off.
01:18:30I love it, eat him, Undertaker, eat him!
01:18:33Miz looks absolutely scared to death.
01:18:36And look at Undertaker,
01:18:37Undertaker has not even changed focus.
01:18:40His expression has not changed since Miz walked through
01:18:43the curtain, because Undertaker realizes
01:18:45what's at stake here, that's a championship opportunity.
01:18:49Wouldn't you be scared to death, Michael?
01:18:52I wouldn't even be in the position,
01:18:53I wouldn't even walk out here.
01:18:55You kidding me?
01:18:56It's a long way from eating bugs on a reality show,
01:18:58hanging out with Ryan Seacrest, facing The Undertaker.
01:19:02Beat the clock, smack down.
01:19:03Beat the clock, split underway,
01:19:04final match-up of the night.
01:19:07Mr. Kennedy owns the time to beat,
01:19:08will it be Mr. Kennedy?
01:19:09Come on, give me an oorah!
01:19:11Give me an oorah now!
01:19:14And Miz, that's what he's gotta try to do,
01:19:16play cat and mouse and, I guess,
01:19:18try to find some sort of opening.
01:19:21And The Undertaker's not one to make mistakes.
01:19:23That's for sure.
01:19:24Misses with the right hand.
01:19:26Miz is more like a little rat facing a saber-toothed tiger.
01:19:31What is he doing?
01:19:33Well, there it is, there's the power of The Undertaker.
01:19:35Four and a half minutes and counting.
01:19:36Big right hand by The Phenom.
01:19:39It looks like we know who's going to the Royal Rumble.
01:19:42Undertaker headbutt to The Miz.
01:19:46Four minutes, 20 seconds and counting.
01:19:48The time to beat, the pace set last week.
01:19:52Undertaker, the last match-up of the evening.
01:19:54And there's a big clothesline!
01:19:55Should be over right here!
01:19:57The cover, shoulders down,
01:19:59and somehow The Miz kicked out.
01:20:02I don't think we have any doubt
01:20:03who's going to the Rumble now, Michael.
01:20:05It's going to be The Undertaker
01:20:07versus Batista the first time ever.
01:20:09Look at that power!
01:20:10Yeah, the first time ever.
01:20:18Undertaker, Batista, that will be.
01:20:20Talk about two powerhouses,
01:20:22the final match of the Rumble if that happens.
01:20:27Undertaker, Miz in trouble.
01:20:30Or Miz, who considers himself new school,
01:20:33is about to go back to old school.
01:20:36Vintage Undertaker, cover again!
01:20:39Shoulders down, and you saw the urgency
01:20:41of The Undertaker getting to the cover that time
01:20:44as the clock ticks to three and a half.
01:20:46Welcome to reality television, Miz.
01:20:49This is the original reality television.
01:20:53Undertaker, dropping a 300-pound leg
01:20:56across the chest cover.
01:20:58Here's, and Miz kicked that again.
01:21:01Surprising, Undertaker looking at the clock.
01:21:04Clock here on the Trons in Peoria.
01:21:07Undertaker, I think he's done playing games.
01:21:09I'm going to look forward to seeing Batista.
01:21:11Hey, Mr. Kennedy, what the hell is he doing?
01:21:16Mr. Kennedy out here, the man who set the pace,
01:21:20distracting The Undertaker momentarily.
01:21:23You know exactly what he's doing.
01:21:24He knows good and well if he doesn't strike him.
01:21:26It's brilliant.
01:21:28And Miz from behind,
01:21:29as Undertaker had his attention turned to Mr. Kennedy.
01:21:31The Miz, the Miz trying to take it out on Athena.
01:21:35Two and a half minutes to go.
01:21:37Drop kick by Miz.
01:21:38There's the other one, trying to knock the big man down.
01:21:41I told you Mr. Kennedy's low.
01:21:44I may be learning, but The Undertaker just refocused.
01:21:46Here's the cover, 223.
01:21:48Counting and a kick out by Miz at two and a half.
01:21:51There is no way The Miz can weather
01:21:54two more minutes of The Undertaker.
01:21:55And Mr. Kennedy realizes that his first ever
01:21:59championship opportunity for a world title is ticking away.
01:22:02Undertaker driving Miz over the top rope.
01:22:05Mr. Kennedy's looking out after his investment.
01:22:08His first ever title match.
01:22:09He does not want to give it up against The Undertaker.
01:22:12But the sands are slipping through the hourglass,
01:22:15so to speak, JBL, because we're under two minutes to go
01:22:18for The Undertaker.
01:22:19As he continues to wear The Miz down,
01:22:21but has to keep an eye on Mr. Kennedy.
01:22:23I believe The Undertaker can pretty much put Miz away
01:22:25anytime he wants to.
01:22:26I believe he's making a statement right here
01:22:29to Batista as much as he is to Mr. Kennedy.
01:22:31Undertaker just glanced over his shoulder at the clock again.
01:22:34300 pounds dropped on the chest of The Miz.
01:22:36How exciting is it gonna be
01:22:39to call Undertaker versus Batista?
01:22:41Undertaker into the cover, shoulders down.
01:22:43He's got him and he's got his foot on the bottom rope.
01:22:46Not only is Mr. Kennedy watching this matchup, JBL,
01:22:49but you know-
01:22:50Oh, there's a cover again.
01:22:51But you know the world champion Batista is as well.
01:22:54You can stop with the world, Michael.
01:22:56The world is watching this matchup.
01:22:58You got a minute and 10 seconds left.
01:23:00Everybody wants to know who is gonna step in there
01:23:03against Batista at the Royal Rumble.
01:23:05Well, the world championship chance is at stake.
01:23:09Miz ripped into the corner.
01:23:10We are under a minute.
01:23:11The Undertaker with Miz up on his shoulders.
01:23:14Some snake eyes.
01:23:15Undertaker off the rope, move to the face.
01:23:19And the referee, referee Jimmy Corderas inadvertently
01:23:22knocked down.
01:23:24He hurt his leg.
01:23:25I think he did.
01:23:26Corderas hurt his leg.
01:23:27Kennedy knocked off the apron.
01:23:28The Miz in trouble.
01:23:29The Undertaker.
01:23:32Look at this.
01:23:34Chokeslam, playing Miz.
01:23:36The Undertaker's gone to the Royal Rumble.
01:23:39But the referee's knocked down.
01:23:43Undertaker trying to drag Jimmy.
01:23:44And look, Mr. Kennedy just pulled Miz out of the ring.
01:23:47And the referee has seen none of this transpired, John.
01:23:50The Undertaker has 20 seconds to get him back.
01:23:5315 seconds and counting.
01:23:56Come on.
01:23:58Undertaker back in the ring.
01:23:59We got a win-win situation.
01:24:01The referee's coming to.
01:24:02Going for the tombstone.
01:24:04Five seconds.
01:24:05Tombstone piledriver.
01:24:07Come on, Undertaker.
01:24:08Here's the cover.
01:24:09But he won't beat the clock.
01:24:11The Undertaker won't beat the clock.
01:24:13Mr. Kennedy's going to the Royal Rumble.
01:24:16Mr. Kennedy's going to the big dance.
01:24:18I love it.
01:24:19Six world champions, he's defeated.
01:24:21He finally gets his world championship shot.
01:24:24Undertaker in one second to go.
01:24:27But Mr. Kennedy has presumed his opportunity
01:24:30at the expense of The Undertaker.
01:24:32Mr. Kennedy was looking after his investment.
01:24:35That is what you have to do in this game.
01:24:38World title shots aren't easy to come by.
01:24:41Kennedy has won.
01:24:42And let's show you the closing moments of the matchup.
01:24:45And we will let the pictures tell the story.
01:24:48One, two, three, four.
01:24:51One, two, three, four.
01:24:54One, two, three, four.
01:24:56Undertaker failed to beat the clock.
01:24:58And now the elation for Mr. Kennedy.
01:25:02Right, wrong, or indifferent, Mr. Kennedy
01:25:05is going to the Royal Rumble to face
01:25:08Batista for the world title.
