00:00Algeria Tumoro
00:12Hello and welcome to Algeria Tumoro, with its picturesque Mediterranean cities,
00:17its mountains of Djordjura and the ancient Atlas,
00:20its prehistoric art of its vast Saharan desert.
00:23Algeria is full of breathtaking landscapes.
00:262.5 million tourists have enjoyed it in the last 12 months,
00:30but the country wants to do better.
00:32It wants to multiply this figure by 5 by 2030.
00:35How?
00:36This is what I propose you to discover with us.
00:41Attracting more tourists requires a new strategy.
00:44It is based on 5 dynamics.
00:46Investment, improvement of services, promotion,
00:49development of communication infrastructures
00:52and the establishment of a solid legal framework
00:55for the management of the sector.
00:57A strategy that is also synonymous with currency.
01:00The only year of 2023 saw more than 1.4 billion euros enter the country.
01:05We have actually put in place a whole strategy
01:08that goes in the direction of development,
01:10in particular of tourist investment
01:13through a certain number of laws,
01:15a certain number of support
01:17to allow tourist investment to meet the demand
01:21both nationally and internationally.
01:27More than 3 million tourists have flown in the last 12 months,
01:30of which more than 2 million were foreigners
01:33and 1.1 million came from the national community abroad.
01:37The country has not experienced such a boom in 20 years.
01:41To boost the hospitality offer and surf on these good results,
01:45the Investment Law offers an advantageous framework
01:49249 areas of tourist expansion
01:52are made available in different regions of the country.
01:56More than 8,400 projects have already been registered.
01:59Projects that should generate 210,000 direct jobs.
02:03And digitization is in place.
02:05It facilitates and clarifies the steps.
02:08We want to create what is called the unique digital framework
02:12through digitization,
02:14in which the operator can accomplish
02:16all the processes related to investment,
02:18starting with information
02:20on investment opportunities,
02:23on investment procedures,
02:26up to registration and obtaining authorizations.
02:32It is the improvement of the investment climate
02:35for more transparency and equal treatment.
02:38We know that in tourism,
02:40the funder is a driver of investment dynamics
02:42and Algeria is experiencing a real revolution in this area.
02:45The new laws are weighing a certain weight
02:48in terms of preparation.
02:50Procedures that will eventually lead to 90,000 additional beds.
02:54And this is just the beginning.
02:56The goal is 300,000 additional beds by 2030.
03:00Tourist areas were created in 1988.
03:04So far, we have not concretely developed any areas.
03:07It is an opportunity to start this sector
03:10and make it available to all foreign national investors
03:14in order to reach a large French port.
03:17We have a coastline that is really well served,
03:20but we are currently working a lot more on the plateau,
03:24so mountain tourism, thermal tourism,
03:27because Algeria has 248 thermal sources
03:30that are not really exploited.
03:32According to the data of the World Tourism Organization,
03:35Algeria is recording the third largest
03:38African tourist progression in the space of five years.
03:41This data illustrates the ambition of the country.
03:44By 2030, it is not less than 12 million people
03:47that Algeria intends to make discover its treasures.
03:51In our strategy, which is the director scheme
03:54of tourism management Horizon 2030,
03:56we set ourselves as a goal
03:58that the tourism sector would be an economic sector
04:01for which Algeria must count.
04:03And that's why we put all this strategy
04:06to make tourism a product
04:09that contributes to the raw national product
04:12of the Algerian economy.
04:14And we, the notion of tourism,
04:16it is quite different from the global notion
04:18as we define it,
04:20because we, in the first place,
04:22tourism is first of all a guest.
04:29What makes the Algerian destination attractive
04:32for many foreign investors,
04:34especially since the loyal, targeted and national clientele
04:37but also in the Mediterranean outskirts,
04:40that is, France, Italy, Spain,
04:43and why not, in the long run,
04:45address the Chinese and Russian markets.
04:48And it is in this magnificent setting
04:50that this chapter on tourism closes.
04:53See you soon in a new edition of Algeria Tomorrow.
