00:56family shout out that overshadowed night three of the DNC. Minnesota
01:01Governor Tim Walz his son Gus could be seen yelling back. That's my dad. The
01:0717 year old wept through much of his father's acceptance speech as the VP
01:11nominee. When it was all over he climbed on stage and gave his dad a
01:16tight bear hug. The authentic father son moment captivated those on the
01:21convention floor and seeing Governor Walz's love affection and shouting out
01:26his son was everything and it meant so much not just to me personally but to
01:30me and the autism and neurodivergent community that I represent. People
01:35magazine recently profiled the family revealing that Gus has a nonverbal
01:40learning disorder in addition to anxiety and ADHD calling the high
01:45school seniors condition his secret power. Every time they cut to Gus it
01:52made me happy. It made me smile. It made me cry. He might not look familiar but

02:02his life to helping bring his craft to those with intellectual and
02:07developmental disabilities. What are you hoping to experience this week?
02:12We're just interested in meeting people on the spectrum. His latest
02:16project lights camera friendship is a docuseries that highlights inclusion
02:21films, a program that has served thousands of aspiring neurodiverse
02:25filmmakers. I want people to see what I say doing camps for Children on the
02:32autism spectrum, training adults with intellectual and developmental
02:37disabilities and finding work for them. A powerful moment regardless of
02:44politics that is putting a spotlight on families with special needs kids. I
02:49hope that Governor walls, vice president walls will use his voice to
02:54advocate for not only his son but for kids. They look like his son
02:59and special needs advocates hope this becomes a defining moment beyond the
03:03campaign trail that sparks greater conversations about Children on the
03:07spectrum, the struggles for families and highlights the community support
