Dunston Hall new food hall and deli shop first look

00:00I'm Mark Lancashire, I'm the Operations Director here at Dunstan Hall Leisure
00:04and we're just taking Derbyshire Times on a tour around our new
00:07food hall and deli. Can you explain a bit about it?
00:11Okay, so these were derelict barns and buildings, some of them falling down,
00:16they're grade two listed and we wanted to restore them so that we could open
00:20them up for the public to see but also do something that was different.
00:24So we opened the food hall deli with the idea that we wanted things that you
00:28wouldn't generally ever get in a supermarket,
00:31things that are really good quality, fresh food, some Italian foods and
00:34Spanish foods, bakers, artisan bakers
00:40and all that kind of thing to try and give people something different when
00:43they come to to visit us. So we've got fish,
00:48meat, charcuterie, fresh desserts, we've got pies that we
00:55bake ourselves, sausage rolls, quiches, we sell fresh fruit and veg, we've got
01:01soft drinks as well as wines and spirits. We try as local as possible
01:07but sometimes you have to go further afield to get suppliers
01:10as well as some dairy products, some cream, some milk and cheeses.
01:15From the hall we've had new owners that took over three and a bit years ago now
01:19and went on a complete refurbishment of the hall
01:23with the view of turning it into a wedding venue, which
01:27we have 10 bedrooms that can accommodate up to 23 people.
01:32We also got a wedding event room which can seat up to 120 for the meal
01:39and a disco on a night time and we have a ceremony room
01:43which seats up to 80 people, all of which were restored. They're all
01:46grade 2 listed and some were in derelict state but we
01:51restored them to the position they're in now.
01:54So we also have a garden centre that's been established for
01:57a lot of years, probably 30 plus years and that's changed quite a bit as well
02:03and was the original part of the the estate that was open to the public.
02:08We've also got a bistro that was originally Seedlings Cafe that
02:13completely rebuilt and is now a very busy bistro
02:17serving fresh food cooked by our in-house chefs.
