Tengu: the Japanese Birdmen Spirits

Imagine if English history documented Richard the Lion-Hearted learning sword-fighting from an Ogre? Well, Japanese history does get that interesting. Many famous figures, including the brother of a Shogun, were documented in Japanese historical texts as having been trained in combat by a mystical birdman spirit, known as the Tengu. Throughout Japan's documented history, there is plenty of testimony that attests to the fact these supernatural creatures were seen as real. Many people still claim they're real.
