00:00:00Two legendary clubs celebrating their 125th birthday, our own Milan and Champions League holders FC Barcelona meet at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
00:00:14Welcome to Catalonia for the fourth edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy.
00:00:19Gamper was the Swiss-born founder of Barcelona and this cup is the club's tribute to him.
00:00:27The men's first team have contested this piece of silverware since 1966 but the female counterparts didn't make their bout until 2021.
00:00:40And this season, this summer, it's the turn of the Rossoneri Milan to battle their prestigious opponents for the fourth edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy.
00:00:57And it's an extra special version as well because both sides were founded in 1899 so it really is a double celebration.
00:01:07Barcelona are calling this summer's festivities and the rest of this year the Gamper Festival.
00:01:15But also Milan are celebrating and commemorating their birth as well.
00:01:23It's another chance for fans to monitor the progress of Milan coach Susanne Backer's revolution, the new Rossoneri.
00:01:34Susanne joined us from Ajax where she won the league in 2023 and the cup in 2024.
00:01:45And as I say, it's a really good chance just to see how much progress or how far along progress is going.
00:01:55This tournament, the first opponents of Barcelona in this tournament for the women were indeed Italians.
00:02:03It was Juventus and they lost 6-0.
00:02:08Indeed the Blaugrana are yet to concede a goal in this fixture in over 270 minutes.
00:02:15So the Rossoneri have got a real challenge on their hands.
00:02:19But that's the way we like it.
00:02:23Very soon the teams will be coming out onto the pitch in the meantime.
