War Thunder - British Premium Tanks announced!
Quick episode talking about the possibility of the regular British Tank Tech Tree being delayed and looking at the new premium British tanks that have been announced, the Cruiser Mark IV (A13 Mk. II), Achilles tank destroyer, the Firefly and the A-43 Black Prince!
British tanks have now been released as part of the Patch 1.55 Royal Armour update.

00:00Hello everybody Toreno here and welcome back to another episode of War Thunder or more specifically an episode dealing with
00:06British tanks in War Thunder as most of you probably remember we got news about British tanks back in August
00:13we was told three of the tanks being added into the game the Comet Centurion and Churchill and
00:19Then everything kind of went really quiet for the next month or so until now
00:24The only news we got was during an interview of the CEO or Q&A where they basically said
00:31British tanks aren't ready yet
00:33We're gonna either have to release them at a later date or we can start releasing some premiums and then
00:39Release the actual regular tech tree when the rest of the vehicles are finished
00:42I think they said there was gonna be like 30 vehicles or 27
00:46I can't quite remember on the tech tree and they just weren't finished yet
00:49And from today's announcement, it seems they are going to go with the release some premiums and then the regular tech tree
00:56of releasing British tanks
00:58As it says here while other British ground vehicles including regular versions of most of these are in development
01:04These four premium tanks will be the first vehicles available
01:07It doesn't say if they're going to be in a British tank tech tree or like the British tank tech tree or if they're going
01:13to be part of
01:14already existing tech trees
01:16Says it will be available in the store. So I don't know if that means buying them as bundles. It doesn't really say
01:23But the four vehicles they've announced are the A13 Mk2 cruiser tank, the Sherman Firefly medium tank if I can find it there
01:31the M10 Achilles and
01:33The A43 Black Prince. Now, it's only going to really be a quick episode today
01:39Because usually I do really big episodes, but this is mainly just focusing in on how the vehicles will be in War Thunder
01:46Any tiers we can find
01:48What weapons they'll use how they'll play in War Thunder. But anyway now that's all out of the way
01:53Let's get straight into the episode
01:55So the first tank we're going to look at is the A13 Mk2 cruiser Mk4 and as it says here
02:00It's a unique tank modification with exclusive livery
02:04It's got a two color camouflage scheme with middle bronze green slash deep bronze green France and it says here
02:11Where the prototype holds from Squadron A of 3rd Royal Tank Regiment, 3rd Tank Battalion, 1st Armoured Division
02:18Now down here. It just talks a little bit about the tank
02:22You know like the Christie suspension and such but down at the bottom. It says it's an up armoured model of the tank
02:28Now I'm not sure what the armour would actually be because it says it was slowly corrected by redevelopment and modernization
02:34Efforts like any problems and that presumably this is when the armour was added
02:38Some of my books disagree with what the original armour was in the first place some say 20 25 some say 30
02:44So possibly the 30 was the up armoured version. Possibly it will have more armour than the
02:5030 millimeter. I'm not entirely sure I have to look into that bit more
02:53But as you can see down here, it says the vehicle is decent mobility and it's been placed at rank 1
02:58You may remember my own tech tree. I put it at something like rank 3, tier 3, tier 2
03:04With a lower battle rating, of course, but it's going to be rank 1
03:09Interestingly enough it says it's worth playing the tank using its chief advantage the fast loading cannon
03:15I didn't really particularly think the two-pounder was a very fast loading cannon
03:20But this is what I'm Gaijin seems to be saying that that's going to be one of the main
03:25Advantages of the cruiser tank this cruiser tank having a fast loading gun
03:30Whether that would be the same for the other two-pounder guns
03:32I'm not entirely sure but it would be a very nice advantage to have when using this tank or other tanks like it
03:39Now the next tank we're looking at is the M10 Achilles
03:43as you can see here's with the 65th anti-tank regiment and is a tank with exclusive livery and
03:49As it says here, it's an M10 Achilles of the British 7th Armoured Division 65th anti-tank regiment Norfolk Yeomanry
03:56So this is basically an M10 Wolverine
03:59But with a 17 pounder gun so pretty similar to the Sherman Firefly, but you know in an actual tank destroyer
04:06Now it doesn't give us much information about the tank as far as I can tell it is
04:10Essentially just an M10 Wolverine with a different gun
04:13It does make mention about an open the open turret fairly large proportions now allowing the crew to man the weapon in more comfortable conditions
04:21Perhaps that will affect reloading because I don't know maybe where it's you know, it's easier to access the weapon and such
04:28That's conjecture on my part
04:29It doesn't tell us much information other than that other than it's a perfect weapon for destroying German heavy tanks
04:36We knew that already, but this seems to be confirming it will be quite a threat to German heavy tanks now
04:42Unfortunately, we're not told what tier this is going to be but based on information given to us in the Firefly bit of the article
04:48I believe it will be tier 3 but perhaps a lower battle rating than the Firefly because obviously this has less armor
04:55But it's also possible. We will have some better reloading which again is conjecture on my part
05:00Which so maybe it could be the same battle rating roughly
05:04But you know be a nice tank to have on the British tech tree because there's a nice little modification of the M10
05:09And of course the next vehicle Sherman IC second Warsaw armored division
05:14Sherman Firefly and I was a little worried at first because it said unique tank modification with exclusive livery and
05:21Reading through the description didn't say anything about any modifications which made me think
05:26The 17 pounder the fact it is a Firefly is what it means by unique modification
05:32I was a bit worried they were going to keep this as a
05:34premium only but on
05:37Page 5 I think of the forum thread which you can access at the bottom of here
05:41They have said there is going to be a non premium version. So
05:44You know, that's just badly worded and I misinterpreted it
05:48But as it says here, it's a Sherman Firefly called
05:53Trzeciennik. I do apologize to any Polish speakers out there for the
05:59mispronunciations
06:00Part of the first squadron 4th Armored Regiment Scorpion 2nd Armored Brigade 2nd Warsaw Armored Division, Italy
06:071945 so this is a tank used by Polish forces now down here. It does give us a bit of information about the Firefly
06:15It says it was one of the most successful and formal
06:18Modifications made and we are sure that players will enjoy the Firefly at rank 3 in battles against the early Tigers and the Panther
06:25Which is kind of surprising. I thought we'd be tier 4 or something. I
06:30Did think it might be a little overpowered against Tiger ones
06:35Perhaps the Panther would be pretty suited to against but I don't know. Maybe it's just me
06:40I'm sure it'd be a good it'll be a good tank anyway
06:43But it just seems a bit little lower than I expected it to be but I'll enjoy it all the same and it is good
06:49They are adding it into the game and you know, like I said, I was worried
06:52it was gonna be premium only but it seems like that it's not gonna be the case and
06:56Lastly, we have the a-43 Black Prince an exclusive tank and there's a good reason for this if you come down here
07:03It says that the tank was the most improved modification of the Churchill
07:07We never saw deployment due to the end of the war against Germany. It was a prototype
07:11It was built in extremely limited numbers and never used in combat
07:16As it says here, it's got a new welded hexagonal turret and that houses the 76.2 millimeter cannon, which is a 17 pounder
07:24It also says the tank is
07:26Excellently armored and armed with the 17 pounder gun as it said there the arm
07:31I believe is something like 152 millimeters at the front. So that's gonna be pretty you know
07:36Hard to take down that's gonna be pretty well armored
07:39You can also see it says to be aware of enemy flanking maneuvers
07:43So obviously the side arm is gonna be quite a bit thinner than the frontal armor
07:47Also, unless I'm mistaken. It has the same engine as the regular Churchill, but is a lot heavier
07:53So it is a lot slower. So would likely be a lot more susceptible to
07:58Flanking maneuvers, so you won't be able to react as fast
08:01Now like with the Achilles, it doesn't tell us what tier this tanks gonna be
08:05I think it would probably be high tier 3 or low tier 4. I mean, it's hard to
08:12Decide really because obviously it's got the 17 pounder gun which has apparently been decided to be a tier 3
08:18Thing but it's also got much thicker armor 152 millimeters
08:22So I think low tier 4 high tier 3 is probably the best place for it
08:26But of course, we're not gonna really know until it's actually released into the game
08:30So which of these tanks am I looking forward to the most?
08:34Well, like I said the Firefly is meant to be coming in as a regular tank as well as a premium
08:39so I'm not gonna be too fussed about getting that a
08:4313 mark 2 it does look like a good tank. But again, it's quite a low tier premium
08:49I I don't know. I usually prefer getting premiums of the higher tiers. Although I would get it if the price was right
08:55The Achilles would be a definitely good to be a definite tank for me to get because you know
09:01It's this m10 Wolverine with a 17 pounder gun in it. That would be pretty fun to use
09:06But I actually think the a43 black prince would be the one I'd want to get the most because it is a unique tank
09:12It's you know, it's a British tank. It's got a very good gun. It's got very good armor very good cross-country capabilities
09:20It was able to climb ridiculous, you know slopes and stuff. I think this would be the tank
09:26I'm looking forward to the most if I'm honest, so that's it for this episode
09:29Like I said, it was just a quick episode to look at these four tanks try and work out any better tears if possible
09:36You know be good to have these tanks in the game
09:38It's a shame they're releasing them premiums first and then the regular tech tech tree
09:42I quite liked how they did it with the American tech tree where they released
09:46I think it was like tier one first then they released a couple more vehicles and they kept doing that until all the vehicles were
09:52added in
09:53premium and regular alike
09:56But obviously Gaijin have felt this is the best way of doing things
10:00You know, hopefully this will get British tanks into the game quicker in some form or another
10:05And you know be good to see all these tanks in war thunder
