With the release of Patch 1.51 "Cold Steel", I take a look at some of the new vehicles and changes made in the patch.

Apologies in advance for my problems with my voice in this episode, was a bit under the weather at the time of recording.

00:00Hello everybody, Toreno here, and welcome back to another episode of War Thunder.
00:04Or more specifically, War Thunder patch 1.51.
00:07Yes, it has actually been released.
00:10This was ridiculously quick, this patch.
00:12They only opened the dev server, like, twice, and I'm pretty sure that was only a week or two ago.
00:17This is probably one of the quickest patches I can remember, at least.
00:21So, in this episode, we're going to quickly go over the patch changes.
00:25The patch notes tell you what's changed within the game.
00:28Additional vehicles, game mechanic changes, etc.
00:32So let's get straight on to it.
00:34Starting off with Great Britain.
00:36Now, I haven't got much time to actually look at each vehicle in that much depth.
00:40Plus, I have looked at them in depth on the dev server, which I'll link to in my dev server episodes.
00:45The first vehicle is the Firebrand TF4.
00:48You carry a vehicle, or aircraft.
00:51It's a bit of a fighter-bomber.
00:54It carries torpedoes, bombs, rockets, up to a thousand pounds of bombs.
00:58Or, you know, one torpedo or eight rockets.
01:02Pretty big aircraft.
01:04Max speed 412 miles per hour.
01:06Battle rating 4.7.
01:08The next aircraft is the Hurricane Mark 4.
01:12Or, just Mark 4. I thought it was Mark 4B for some reason.
01:15So we'll take a look at that very quickly.
01:17Again, two 40mm cannons.
01:20Battle rating 1.7, sorry.
01:23It's a pretty fast, you know, and it's pretty low battle rating.
01:28It's got two 40mm cannons.
01:30Now, a difference from the dev server is it can actually get a...
01:34What's the word for it?
01:36FET. High Explosive Fragmentation Incendiary Tracer.
01:39In the dev server, it only had armour-piercing.
01:42So, that'll make it better for dealing with enemy aircraft.
01:46Now, we'll move on to Japan.
01:48Now, I'm not going to look at the new models of aircraft.
01:51Because, again, I've looked at them in the dev server.
01:53Britain does get a Hurricane Mark 2B as a new model.
01:56But, again, this is just a graphical update.
01:59Japan's got the J2M-5 and the J2M-5 Premium and the Ki-44.
02:05J2M-5 Raiden Regular.
02:08Battle rating 5.3.
02:10Four 20mm cannons.
02:12Two are Mark 2 and two are Mark 1.
02:15Again, and it carries 60kg bombs.
02:18Like most Japanese fighters.
02:20Got your standard armour.
02:22Again, not much difference between the J2M-5 and the J2M-3 from what I can tell.
02:28J2M-5's a little bit faster though.
02:31They're both the same battle rating.
02:33So, Gaijin obviously didn't think there was enough difference to warrant changing the battle rating.
02:39J2M-5 Premium's got two 30mm cannons.
02:42No, I don't want to order that.
02:44So, this would be for taking out heavier aircraft, bombers and such.
02:48It's got a decent rate of climb.
02:5018.2 beats a second.
02:523850 Golden Eagles.
02:54And a battle rating of 4.7.
02:57And does it carry any bombs?
03:01I believe it carries two 60kg bombs.
03:03Yes, it does.
03:05We'll quickly move on to the Ki-44.
03:08Preview.
03:11Again, two 12.7mm machine guns.
03:14Two 7.7mm machine guns.
03:17Pretty nice looking aircraft.
03:19Very slim.
03:20And a pretty good rate of climb.
03:2221.6 meters a second.
03:24Doesn't carry any bombs, but you can change your ammunition.
03:28This would be good at intercepting bombers, if it wasn't for the quite bad armament.
03:33But a battle rating of 2.7, the bombers aren't going to be that powerful, I don't think.
03:37Don't think there's anything else for Japan.
03:40Go to the USSR.
03:42Which has got, I think, pretty much all premiums.
03:45Some loadouts have been removed for the...
03:48Where is it?
03:50Oh, the R2 Type 3M.
03:52They actually removed some weapons or modifications.
03:59I've really bought all that unbought stuff, but I don't know what they've actually changed about it.
04:03It doesn't mention in the patch notes anything other than a new model.
04:06But again, we're not looking at the models today.
04:08I will link you to my Death Surfer episode where I did look at them.
04:11We'll look at the Hurricane Mark II B.
04:14Which is a lentilese aircraft.
04:16And the Russians have changed it.
04:18It's actually faster than the regular Mark II B.
04:20And it's got two 20mm cannons and two 12.7mm machine guns.
04:25And it's got the nice little Soviet camouflage.
04:28I do apologise if my voice has been a bit ill the last day or two.
04:33Now, as you can see, you've got your standard ammunition loadout.
04:38And you can carry eight rockets.
04:40So, change your ammunition and carry rockets.
04:43Which is, you know, pretty good.
04:45The next Russian vehicle is the Yak-3 VK-107.
04:48It's basically a Yak-3P.
04:51But it gets one less B-20S cannon.
04:55I've lost it. Ah, here it is.
04:57And it's quite a bit faster.
04:59444 compared to 397.
05:03I'll quickly give you a look of it.
05:05It's 6,090 Golden Eagles.
05:07Which seems a bit of a rip-off for me.
05:09Personally, I don't really fly Russian aircraft.
05:12So for others it may be a bit different.
05:14But it's a nice looking aircraft.
05:16I don't think it carries any bombs or anything.
05:19Just change your ammunition loadout for the 20mm cannons.
05:23The Hurricane Mark II B, by the way, is 1,000 Golden Eagles.
05:26Forgot to mention that a minute ago.
05:28And it's a battle rating of 3.
05:30Which is good.
05:32The Mark II B is a battle rating of 2.0.
05:36Yeah, 2.
05:37In the dev server, the Hurricane Mark II B was quite a bit lower.
05:41Which caused a few complaints.
05:43The Yak-3 is a battle rating of 6.0.
05:46Now we'll look at the new Russian vehicles quickly.
05:49Starting off with the T-26-4.
05:51Which is basically a T-26.
05:54But they've put a T-28 turret on it.
05:57It's pretty bad armour all over.
06:01It's 15mm all over, basically.
06:04It's got 3 or 4 crew.
06:07If I can find the x-ray.
06:093 crew, gunner, or loader, commander, driver.
06:12Again, like I said, not particularly great armour.
06:16I'm not going to be looking at the ammo in depth.
06:19Like I said, I'll link it to my dev server episode where I did look at it in depth.
06:22But it's basically a T-28 cannon, I believe.
06:25The KT-28.
06:27The T-28 carries the...
06:30Oh, it carries a slightly different turret.
06:32I can't see it being much different armour penetration wise.
06:36I'll quickly show you.
06:38With the armour piercing high explosive ballistic capped.
06:4232mm at 0 degrees, 500 metres.
06:45Okay for tier 1, but again, like I said, not very good armour.
06:49So, it's going to be a bit of a glass cannon.
06:52Now, the next vehicle is the T-10M.
06:54Which is a slightly less armoured version of the IS-4.
06:58If it can load up.
07:00As I said in my dev server episode.
07:03Around the front here, 54 degrees, effective thickness 230.
07:08If we go to the IS-4 quickly.
07:10It's a little bit thicker, effective thickness.
07:13And it's got a steeper slope, 61 degrees.
07:18It's 140 at the front there.
07:21On the T-10M it's...
07:24About effective thickness 120.
07:27So it's got less of a slope.
07:29It's not quite as thick.
07:31It's got less effective thickness.
07:33It's got this bit here.
07:35This sort of plate here, 50 degrees.
07:37Not quite as thick as on the IS-4.
07:40So it could be a weak point.
07:42But you've got some weak points up here.
07:44Which are about 200mm or 140 in this case.
07:48But they're going to be hard to shoot.
07:50But really it's not going to cause that many problems.
07:53As much as with the IS-4.
07:56I hear a lot of complaints about the IS-4.
07:58But I haven't played the height here.
08:00So I don't know how valid they are.
08:02It's got four crew.
08:04It's got new ammunitions.
08:06It's got armour piercing discard in sabot.
08:08325mm, 0 degrees, 500m.
08:11Or HEAT-FS, High Explosive Anti-Tank Fin Stabilised.
08:15400mm at 500m, 0 degrees.
08:18Basically 400mm at all ranges at 0 degrees.
08:23So that's the T-10M.
08:25And we've got the T-34-100.
08:28It's basically, from what I can see.
08:31A T-34 with a 100mm turret on it.
08:35The Egyptians actually built a T-34-100 as well.
08:39But with a different 100mm turret.
08:42That makes it look a lot weirder.
08:44I got confused with that tank at first.
08:46But like you can see.
08:48It's basically a normal T-34-85.
08:51But with a different turret.
08:53Four crew.
08:556090 points.
08:57Seems a bit of a rip-off to me.
08:59Standard ammo.
09:01188mm, 500m, 0 degrees.
09:04And with the best armour that only goes up to 197mm.
09:08So 11mm better.
09:11Sorry, 9mm better.
09:14So I suppose a good OK tank at 6.3.
09:18Not particularly something I'm looking forward to that much.
09:21Probably won't buy it myself.
09:23Now the SU-100Y is battle-rated 5.3.
09:26And I think it's almost as big as the Maus.
09:29But with much less armour.
09:3160mm all the way round.
09:34But it makes up for that with a huge 130mm cannon.
09:38Which can do 179mm at 500m, 0 degrees.
09:44Or 45mm with high explosive.
09:47And it's got 6 crew.
09:492 loaders, 1 commander, 1 gunner, 1 machine gunner, 1 driver.
09:53And you can see they've modelled all the naval stuff from this gun.
09:57Because I think it is a naval gun.
09:59You've got this huge horizontal aiming drive.
10:01Huge vertical aiming drive.
10:03It's just ridiculous.
10:05But yeah, it'll be easy to destroy.
10:08But if that gun sees you with only 25 seconds reloading.
10:12That's going to be a huge problem for some people.
10:15We'll go to the Germans next.
10:17They haven't really got many new aircraft.
10:19They've got the R2-1942 Premium.
10:24Which I've said before, I don't think they really needed.
10:27It comes with less loadout.
10:29So it's not quite as effective as the Russian R-1942s.
10:34Like I said, only 250kg bombs.
10:38It also gets the Dornier 17E1.
10:41Which is an early tier bomber.
10:43Which Germany does need.
10:45It can carry 20 50kg bombs or 250kg bombs.
10:51It doesn't really carry any armour from the looks of it.
10:54It's got 3 machine guns, 2 turrets, 1 for the pilot to use.
10:58And they're all in this place at the front.
11:01So it should be relatively easy to take them all out with one quick burst from machine gun fire.
11:07Battle rating 1.7.
11:09I think that's pretty much all the new aircraft.
11:11There are some new models for the Bf 109 E1 and E3.
11:15But again, I've looked at them on the dev server episode, which I'll link to.
11:19Now Germany gets a few new tanks.
11:21It gets a new reserve tank.
11:23The Panzer 35T.
11:25You can see I've already got some stuff unlocked for it.
11:28Not a particularly great gun.
11:31With the best ammo, APCBC.
11:3646mm at 500m 0 degrees.
11:39But again, tier 1 battle rating 1.
11:42Bad armour, it's 25mm all round.
11:45And there's rivets, with spalling if that's been introduced now.
11:48That's going to cause quite a few problems.
11:50There's something like, is it 4 crew?
11:53Yeah, 4 crew.
11:55Driver, machine gunner, commander, loader.
11:58So, OK for tier 4, but it's going to be penetrated by anything.
12:02Any shell's going to take out practically the entire crew in one hit.
12:06The next new tank is the Leopard 1 at battle rating 7.7.
12:10Now this is kind of the opposite of the T-10.
12:13In that it's slightly armoured and quite fast.
12:17But it has a huge problem.
12:19Well, like I said, it's got less armour.
12:21Effective thickness, 120mm.
12:23But it has this huge ammo rack at the front.
12:26Next to the driver. There's 4 crew by the way.
12:29Commander, loader and gunner.
12:31Any shot is going to penetrate here.
12:34Hit that ammo rack and just blow up the whole bloody tank.
12:37It carries 60 shells, so maybe you can load less or something to get rid of that.
12:42But then you've got another ammo rack behind it.
12:45And then behind that you've got another ammo rack.
12:47So 3 ammo racks for you to potentially hit and blow up.
12:50And then, if you don't blow any of them up, you can still hit the loader.
12:54So, that's going to be a problem.
12:56Now this has the same ammunition as the Russian tank.
13:00The HEATFS is basically the same.
13:04I think the discarding sabot may be a little bit less than the T-10.
13:08If I double check.
13:10Yeah, when I'm quickly double checked.
13:12This isn't quite as effective with armour piercing and discarding sabot.
13:15But it also gets HESH.
13:17Penetration of 145.
13:19It doesn't really work like that.
13:21It's high explosive.
13:23It's sort of plastic explosive.
13:25It hits the armour, it pancakes and then explodes.
13:28It doesn't cause penetration.
13:30But it causes shockwaves that sends bits of the armour and the inside of the tank flying around.
13:35Which isn't good for the crew when the inside of your tank starts falling apart.
13:40Or the huge fragments come off.
13:43Again, this is battle rating 7.7.
13:46So not quite the highest battle rating.
13:48Pretty fast, not particularly great armour.
13:50And that ammo rack is going to cause a huge problem.
13:54And the last German tank is the NBFZ.
13:58Which is basically a Russian, German T-35.
14:02Six crew I believe.
14:04Two machine gunners.
14:06Driver, loader, gunner, commander.
14:10And it's got the 75mm gun from the Panzer IV.
14:14And the 37mm from the Panzer III.
14:16So with HEAT, 75mm gun does 80mm.
14:20With the, what one's best?
14:22Armour piercing composite rigid?
14:24No, armour piercing HE in the 37.
14:27It does 52mm at 500m 0 degrees.
14:33Armour is not that good.
14:35It's quite bad.
14:37For 1.3 and it's a huge target.
14:41It's basically 20mm at max.
14:44Even with sloping you only get to 30mm.
14:47And this is 1750 Golden Eagles.
14:50Which seems a bit expensive.
14:52Where's the Russian SMK?
14:56Yeah, the SMK is 1300.
14:58That's way more effective than a tier 3.
15:01Was it tier 3?
15:03Oh, it was a tier 2, but higher tier 2.
15:05Battle rating 3.7.
15:07And the NBFZ tier 1 is 500 points more expensive.
15:13That doesn't really make sense to me.
15:15I don't know why they've done it like that.
15:17But now we move on to the Americans.
15:20And they've got, again, new models for the F2A 3 and 1.
15:24They've also got new aircraft.
15:26The A-36 and the SB2C-1C.
15:28Now the A-36 is based on the P-51.
15:32Basically it's a P-51 for dive bombing and attacker role.
15:36It's got some basic armour, not great.
15:38Armed with 6 machine guns.
15:40And they've added the bomb loads.
15:42That wasn't here on the dev server.
15:44Two 100lb, 250lb or 500lb bombs.
15:48Battle rating 3.
15:509200 RP to unlock.
15:53And they've also split this line into two.
15:55You've got the bomber line and the attacker line now.
15:57Before it was sort of meshed into one.
15:59You had the naval attacker and the army attacker slash bomber.
16:03The next vehicle is the SB2C-1C.
16:06Again, looking at modifications.
16:09It's attacker, dive bomber or naval bomber.
16:13One torpedo or two 250lb, two 500lb or one 1000lb bomb.
16:20It's got two 20mm cannons and a turret at the back.
16:24You can actually see this bit around the tail.
16:26Apparently they had bug reports about that not being finished.
16:28But apparently that is actually meant to be like that.
16:31Something interesting is they've actually modelled armour on the gun.
16:34Which I don't think they usually do.
16:36I hope they're going to do that on all the guns.
16:38To help introduce additional protection for the crew members.
16:42You've got your standard armour and bulletproof glass around the pilot.
16:46I don't think there's much else to say about this aircraft.
16:48Battle rating 3.3, RP 11,000.
16:54So that's all the American aircraft.
16:56We'll move on to the American tanks.
16:58The Super Hellcat and the M60.
17:01We'll preview the Hellcat first.
17:04It's basically an M36 Jackson turret on an M18 Hellcat.
17:08There's not much to say.
17:10It's got two APCBC shells.
17:13The second one is actually worse than the third one.
17:15At 500m at least.
17:17But it does do better at longer ranges.
17:20Compared to the stock ammo.
17:22You can also get APCR.
17:24500m, 278mm penetration at 0 degrees.
17:28Armour isn't that great.
17:30It still seems to have a placeholder stat card.
17:32For turret armour at least.
17:34You can see that's 30mm thickness.
17:37But the turret armour and stat card is 12mm.
17:40Standard crew.
17:42You've got your 4-5 crew.
17:44Machine gunner, driver, commander, loader, gunner.
17:47I think this would be a pretty good tank.
17:50It's still got the same speed as the Hellcat.
17:5245mph.
17:54Hellcat has 45mph.
17:57Unless that's a placeholder still.
17:59We'll move on to the M60 quickly.
18:02Now this is a bit in between the T-10 and the Leopard 1.
18:06It's got better armour.
18:08Effective thickness at the front.
18:11It's got a decent turret armour.
18:13Quite well sloped.
18:15Sides it's not very good.
18:17The rear is quite bad.
18:19The front at least is relatively good.
18:23It's got this weird cupola at the top.
18:25They've added a machine gun turret.
18:27What's the tank's name?
18:29I'm trying to remember it.
18:30The M3 Lee.
18:31They've added this weird machine gun turret thing at the top.
18:34Which I can see being a bit of a weak spot.
18:37I don't know why they added that in real life.
18:39I can't see why they thought to add that.
18:41But then again in real life you didn't have super accurate guns like we do in game.
18:45But that could be a bit of a weak spot.
18:47The commander sits there.
18:49Again, full crew.
18:50They've got rid of the machine gunner, driver, commander, gunner and loader.
18:54And this is done one better than the Leopard.
18:56It has two ammo racks at the front.
18:59You've got an ammo rack here on the left.
19:01You can go through the ammo rack.
19:03Hit the ammo rack behind that.
19:04And then hit the loader.
19:06So two chances of setting off ammo and killing the loader.
19:10If you shoot in the middle, kill the driver.
19:12Chance of setting off this ammo here at the back.
19:15Hit the right, hit the ammo here.
19:18And potentially take the leg off of the gunner.
19:20So yeah, that's going to cause some problems.
19:23But it's got decent armour to deal with that.
19:26And again, it's got armour piercing discarding sabot.
19:30Not quite as good as the T-10s.
19:32But it's got the same HESH and the same HEATFS.
19:35400mm with HEATFS.
19:37145mm with HESH.
19:41So now that we've looked at all the new vehicles.
19:44What other changes have been made in patch 1.51?
19:47Now if we go to the Panthers.
19:49It says here changes in vehicle models.
19:51For all vehicles of the Panther series and self-propelled guns.
19:54External screens on the lower part of each vehicle have been added and accounted for in the damage model.
19:58So I assume it means these bits.
20:01Which I don't think were modelled before.
20:03Or they didn't count as armour.
20:05They're only 5mm but that could help a little bit.
20:08Against HEAT.
20:10It's all cancer spaced armour which is meant to disrupt the jet it gives out.
20:15And you know with the armour model system it might cause the occasional bounce.
20:19It's better than nothing.
20:21But again, not expecting huge changes out of it.
20:24Again looking through the patch notes.
20:26Multiple tweaks and fixes to the shape and thickness of armour elements on several vehicles.
20:30Fixed the number of crew members displayed for the KV-85.
20:33Changed from 5 to 4.
20:35Have they actually removed crew?
20:37Or is it just telling the wrong number or something?
20:40Let's check.
20:42We're on the stat card.
20:44It doesn't mention crew.
20:46So I'm assuming they've removed a crewman.
20:48Let me quickly check that.
20:50X-ray.
20:52Yeah there's only 4 crew in there.
20:54So either they've removed a crewman.
20:56Who wasn't meant to be there.
20:58Or it did actually say the number of crew somewhere.
21:00That I just can't find.
21:02And it gave the wrong number.
21:04But...
21:06Did it mention something in information?
21:08It doesn't seem to mention how many crew are here.
21:12Yeah so I assume they just had an extra crew member in there for some reason.
21:16Or they displayed it as an incorrect number somewhere else.
21:19Which I can't find.
21:22Next patch changed.
21:24Armour for the Yak-7B has been fixed.
21:26Removed non-existent armoured glass.
21:28Yak-7B.
21:30So was there not meant to be armoured glass on that or something?
21:33If we quickly check that out as well.
21:36Oh they've removed the armour from there.
21:39So that's going to be a bit of a problem for Yak-7B pilots.
21:42If you're going to head-on it's going to be a lot easier to kill.
21:45You've still got your armour at the back.
21:47But again only 8mm or so.
21:49So not great.
21:51Next patch changed.
21:53Fixed the uploading custom camouflages for the Hurricane Mark 1L and the ME-262A1U4.
21:59I can't really show that because I don't have any custom camouflages.
22:03But yeah they fixed that apparently.
22:06Fixed the display of offensive weaponry damage models for the HS-129B2.
22:12Wait...
22:13Fixed the display for offensive weaponry damage model.
22:15What does that mean?
22:16Does that mean they've changed the armour?
22:19Or are they not showing all the loadouts or something?
22:23Again I don't use it.
22:26You can attach additional cannons.
22:28Is that the difference?
22:30Again I've never used this aircraft.
22:32So I have no idea what they've actually changed.
22:36We'll check the armour.
22:37I did hear some complaints that the armour wasn't modelled properly.
22:42Again I've never used this aircraft.
22:45So I don't know what I'm looking for.
22:48The patch note isn't exactly that clear.
22:52Yeah it seems to have standard armour.
22:55Seems to be okay armour.
22:57Again that's all the weaponry you can unlock.
23:02Not really sure what this change means exactly.
23:05If I find out I'll add some information to an annotation or something for the video.
23:10But again I can't really see what they've changed.
23:14Next patch note.
23:15Added missing armour for the HE-111-16.
23:20So we'll check that out.
23:22Additional armour.
23:24Yeah added missing armour.
23:25That's pretty good.
23:26Because the HE-111s in general I think are placeholders from Gaijin's last game.
23:32Was it Birds of Steel I think?
23:34So they all did a lot of updating graphic wise and armour.
23:38I think some of this is new.
23:39I could be wrong though.
23:40Again I haven't used this aircraft in a while.
23:43And again it's not much armour.
23:44I would have added bullet proof glass for the rear gunner.
23:48So that's definitely good.
23:5060mm rear glass and I suppose if the angle is right it will stop some bullets going near the pilot.
23:56Which is good.
23:57Or slow it down and maybe his own armoured chair will block the shots.
24:02So this isn't going to help much against higher calibre weapons.
24:05But against the lower calibre weapons at lower tiers this may help the HE-111-H16 somewhat.
24:13You know it's a very good change.
24:14I'm glad they've added the missing armour.
24:18Next patch change.
24:19Fixed the display of offensive weaponry for BB-1 aircraft in SU-2-1 line up.
24:24Or SU-2 line up.
24:26I don't know why I said SU-2-1.
24:28Checked the BB-1.
24:29I'm not sure what they've changed again.
24:34Does it mean they weren't showing some of the bombs you could carry or something?
24:39It doesn't really make sense that sentence.
24:43Maybe I'm missing something really really obvious.
24:46Or I probably am.
24:49I'm not really sure what they mean.
24:51Display of offensive weaponry.
24:52Or do they mean when you're flying it doesn't show the bombs being carried or something?
24:59There's something I haven't unlocked to the SU-2.
25:02I thought maybe they'd added new bombs.
25:06Again modifications.
25:08I'm not really sure what they mean by that either.
25:13Maybe they just mean this line wasn't showing up properly.
25:17But again I'll add an annotation if I find any different information on it.
25:21We've got one of the next patch notes.
25:23We've got a new map, Finland.
25:25We've got a new event in the game called Enduring Confrontation.
25:30Now I haven't played it but from what I understand it's quite a bit different from what we have at the moment.
25:35It's like you get these really really long battles with unlimited lives.
25:39You start off with lower tier aircraft and as time goes on you unlock points.
25:43You get access to higher tier aircraft and there's specific objectives.
25:48So fighters have to go for enemy aircraft.
25:51Attackers have to destroy AA emplacements, tanks and stuff.
25:54And the strategic bombers have to destroy strategic targets.
25:59And obviously as you complete these objectives you get more points to unlock higher tier aircraft.
26:05And you get nearer to victory.
26:07These battles are meant to go on for hours and hours.
26:10And I think you can join the matches whenever you want.
26:12So that seems quite a good idea.
26:14I used to play a game called Battleground Europe.
26:16That was an MMO, first person shooter type thing.
26:20But it seems to be heading towards that direction.
26:24A lot less time and it's going to be realistic and simulated battles I think.
26:30I'm pretty sure it's confirmed to be realistic and simulated battles.
26:33Perhaps this is to gather data for the World War mode.
26:37Which I haven't heard much about in recent months.
26:40So I assume it's towards gathering data for that and improving that game mode.
26:45I do apologise about my voice going a bit under the weather the last day or two.
26:51New aircraft arcade missions have been added.
26:54Apple Gardens has got ground strike.
26:57Approaches to Moscow, ground strike.
26:59Kalking Gul, Saipan both got ground strike.
27:02Gorge and Foothills have front line.
27:05And for realistic missions Khorasan and Mosdok have both got front line.
27:09So I haven't played that game mode much.
27:12But it was quite fun when I did play it.
27:14It looks like trench warfare.
27:16You've got these two lines of machine guns and artillery.
27:20And then you've got tanks coming in from behind those lines to do battle in no man's land.
27:25Or force a breakthrough.
27:27Not sure about adding it in realistic battles but I had fun with it in arcade.
27:32Again in the patch notes there have been changes to lots of different maps.
27:37Krimsk, Jungle, Eastern Europe, Carpathians, Karelia, Bright Rock, Fortress and Battle of Hurtgen Forest.
27:43So these are all ground forces maps.
27:45Krimsk have removed a known unfair vantage point.
27:48Areas have been flattened, don't know what vantage point.
27:51Jungle removed known unfair vantage points.
27:54Eastern Europe balance changes have been made to the central capture point.
27:59Carpathians added a new shelter position.
28:02Some changes to unfair winning conditions.
28:05Karelia some changes to unfair winning conditions.
28:08White Rock Fortress balance changes to the northern capture point.
28:13And Hurtgen Forest balance changes at the third capture point.
28:17Now again I haven't really played a lot of those maps recently.
28:21So I don't know what all those changes mean.
28:23But they may mean something more to those of you listening.
28:27I thought it would be best to read them out at least.
28:29Just going to swap the camera so we're actually recording the patch notes.
28:33Because I don't think there's much else to show in game at the moment.
28:36But we move on to research and economy.
28:38The amount of research points awarded for the destruction of ground vehicles.
28:42Now uses a similar system to aircraft battles.
28:45And vehicle BR difference will also be considered.
28:49Now this is a pretty major change.
28:51Because they actually changed how much research points you got from ground forces.
28:55Like they put it right down quite a while back.
28:58Basically the problem was there weren't many tanks.
29:01People were unlocking them very quickly.
29:03I think the argument Gaijin used was that there was a lot more opportunities to get kills.
29:07It was a lot easier to get kills than with aircraft.
29:10So they reduced how much RP you could get.
29:12Now that there's more tanks and for three different nations rather than two.
29:16Obviously they've put it up again.
29:19Maybe not to where it was.
29:21Or maybe not on par with ground vehicles.
29:23But a lot higher than it was before.
29:25So this would be quite good.
29:27This is a very welcome change.
29:28For me at least.
29:30The amount of research points awarded for the destruction of ground vehicles has been slightly increased.
29:35Again to do with the above point.
29:37Added missing traverse adjustment drive modification for self-propelled guns.
29:41Panzerjäger, Panther, Panzerjäger Tiger, Tiger P39, ISU-152, ISU-100Y, ISU-100, ISU-122, ISU-122-54, ISU-152, ISU-85, ISU-90-43 and the ISU-85M.
29:56That was a lot to say.
29:58Again the line up for the US nations has been changed.
30:02Like I said one for bombers, one for attackers and dive bombers.
30:05New damage model.
30:07A new indicator for ground vehicle and aircraft damage model has been introduced.
30:11I believe it now sort of shows a bit more clearly when you're in game itself.
30:15I haven't tested this myself yet.
30:17A new system for tracking shell fragments has been introduced.
30:21More complex and unique shape and different fragments with different amounts of energy.
30:26Works for secondary shell fragments and the metal jet of HEAT grenades.
30:31Again I haven't seen this used yet.
30:33I haven't really played the game since the patch came out.
30:36So hopefully that will make the damage model more accurate.
30:39But I could also see that causing more unlikely events and probably causing a bit of complaining.
30:48Because you know there's going to be one fragment that does something it really shouldn't do and get someone killed in game.
30:54But hopefully this will make it more accurate, the damage model.
30:59Increase the efficiency of piercing projectiles with discarding sabot against sloped armour.
31:04Increase the efficiency of flat headed shells and armour piercing ballistic cap shells on sloped armour inclined at a 60 degree angle.
31:12Fix the ballistics of piercing projectiles with discarding sabot.
31:16Cross section on which ballistics will be calculated correspond to the core size of the projectile and not to the projectile's sabot.
31:24So I'm assuming that when it was calculating the size as being the whole thing rather than the actual projectile that hits the tank once the sabots have fallen off.
31:34So again hopefully all these changes make the damage model a bit more realistic and accurate.
31:40Weaponry. HESH has been added. Causes fragments to hit targets inside the vehicle due to spalling.
31:46Doesn't say if they've added spalling for all projectiles because I believe all projectiles that don't actually penetrate do cause a bit of spalling.
31:53Or should be able to, you know, there's a chance of creating spalling in real life.
31:58So I don't know if they've added spalling in general or just for HESH.
32:03HeatFS, the heat with thin stabilised shells has been added.
32:07Have a much better penetration but cause less spalling than with common heat shells.
32:12Which kind of implies that all shells can create spalling now but again it doesn't really say for definite.
32:19We'll just swap it back to War Thunder again because the next change is actually in game.
32:24It's the addition of the BP-367P.
32:28I assume they mean this APCR because there isn't a BP but there is a BR-367P.
32:33Armour Piercing Composite Rigid. 500m can do 211mm penetration at 0 degrees.
32:41Which is quite a bit better than any other shell it has.
32:46211mm, the next best shell does 143mm.
32:52So it gets a boost of like 60mm or possibly 70mm.
32:59So yeah that's going to be quite a big change.
33:02Battle rating 6.3, that's going to make the T-44 quite a bit more powerful than it already is.
33:08Now other than that, changes in flight model.
33:11Now I'm not going to go through all of this because there's just so many aircraft here.
33:16I mean I'll link you to the patch notes of course and you can look through them.
33:21Again just lots of changes to flight models.
33:24Like the Ki-49 improved stability whilst in level flight.
33:28M1K2, new flight model.
33:32And then lots of changes like specified the calculation for the airflow on the horizontal tail surfaces.
33:38Again I'm not reading through all this because it's just so much here.
33:42It would take me all day to read through all this.
33:45Well actually the TA-152 I'll look through.
33:48Flight model has been completely reworked.
33:50Reworked aircraft behaviour at high speed.
33:52Higher the speed the greater the effect.
33:55Reading through it.
33:57Engine performance has been adjusted.
33:59Reduced compression and overheating.
34:02The reason I looked through the TA-152H quite quickly is because it's meant to have a two stage engine.
34:07And part of the engine wasn't working properly for high altitude.
34:12I don't know if they've changed that.
34:14With the flight model being completely reworked hopefully they've changed it or at least started to change it.
34:19A new system has been introduced.
34:21Orders.
34:22We can actually look at that quickly.
34:24We will make battle trophies available in game.
34:27Orders.
34:28Any player in arcade and realistic battles can become a commander.
34:32At the beginning or during a battle an order can be activated.
34:36For fulfilling the order players receive an in-game currency reward.
34:40Only one order can be active at once.
34:44Players from both teams can complete it.
34:47It can be gained as a battle trophy or bought in an item store.
34:51That's not entirely clear for me.
34:54Does that mean you as the player get to complete the order?
34:59Or do you make the order and others complete it?
35:01It says it's available for both teams.
35:04Some of the orders.
35:05Collect as many points as possible within the allotted time.
35:08Destroy the marked targets within the allotted time.
35:10Maximum number of targets 5.
35:13I did actually look through the item store a few minutes ago.
35:17I can't see anything about the battle orders on there.
35:20They're not showing up at the moment.
35:22Maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't seem to be all that clear.
35:27It doesn't seem to make all that much sense to me.
35:39Maybe it's to just focus your team.
35:41Order them to attack enemy targets and give them an incentive to do so.
35:45Another new thing with the interface.
35:48Adding a function that allows the marking of locations of enemies in combined realistic battles.
35:52By landing a shot on an enemy with your main gun.
35:55All players in your team will, for a limited time, be able to view the targeted enemy's location on the minimap.
36:00So that's quite a big difference.
36:02Because that will show the enemy on the minimap if you shoot them.
36:07For all your team.
36:09I don't know if I like that.
36:11It kind of makes sense if you saw an enemy in real life.
36:14You would think you would radio where they are.
36:16I don't know. I suppose it's an okay change.
36:20I do wonder how that's going to play out.
36:22It might need tweaking a little bit.
36:25But yeah, I suppose it's an okay change.
36:28I was a bit worried at first.
36:30I suppose it depends how long a limited time is as well.
36:33Are we talking 10 seconds?
36:35Or a minute?
36:38I'm sure it's only going to be a few seconds.
36:41Next interface change.
36:43Tags for Britain carrier based aircraft have been optimized.
36:46Unnecessarily and apparently duplicating tags have been removed.
36:51When it says tags, I assume it means when you look at an enemy aircraft or friendly aircraft.
36:57Again, I've never really ran into any problems with tags.
37:01So I'm not sure that's going to be much of a big change.
37:04Now one other thing I've noticed about the interface that I don't think was there before.
37:08They've changed something to the crew.
37:10You've got this thing up here, crew info.
37:12It gives you basic details about the crew.
37:15How many points, their level, qualifications.
37:18And it shows pilot training, vitality, repair.
37:23Or re-pair as they call it, reload speed.
37:26It just tells you the most important basic stuff.
37:29I don't know if tanks have something similar.
37:32Preset 2, processing operation.
37:36Yeah, it's got another thing here, crew.
37:39This one's called crew re-pair.
37:42Again, same information.
37:45I assume this is the most important stuff here.
37:48So maybe that can help you prioritise where you spend your crew points.
37:52Settings. They've changed the method of saving user settings.
37:55So they're stored separately for each account and divided into two parts.
37:58One is synchronised between all player devices.
38:01General settings, vehicle presets, settings and settings.
38:04And the other is individual for each device.
38:06Control settings, colours, fonts, etc.
38:09Now I'm hoping that will help me.
38:12Because my graphics settings keep resetting every few patches.
38:15I'm hoping that will stop that from happening.
38:18Hopefully if it's synchronised it will stop it from resetting or something.
38:23But again, I'm not really sure if this is going to affect me that much.
38:26Moving on to sounds.
38:28Improved overall sound environment for air battles.
38:30New sound for shells striking the ground have been added.
38:33Conditions for unlocking some camouflage have been changed.
38:37Multiple decals for ground vehicles and aircraft have been added.
38:40And added winter camouflage for vehicles that don't already have them.
38:44And for all Soviet ground vehicles added woodland camouflages.
38:48Again, I'm not reading through that entire list.
38:50Because that is a bloody big list.
38:52So that's it for today's episode on patch 1.51.
38:55I think they may actually be changing how they do the patches from now on.
38:59I think they may be doing them at a more regular interval.
39:02But with maybe less stuff in each individual patch.
39:05Or they might be doing one big patch and then a small patch and a big patch.
39:09So they can get around to adding new stuff, new vehicles.
39:12And then fix new stuff in the next patch.
39:15I'm quite happy with some of the fixes they've made.
39:18Such as the armour for the HE-111-16 and the new models.
39:22It's good to see them going back over older stuff and fixing or improving it.
39:26Things I would have liked to have seen in the patch.
39:30I would have liked to see the Hawker Hunter.
39:32I would have liked the Germans to get the HE-177.
39:36Or Japan to get the H-8K.
39:39Or Russia to get the MBR-2 floatplane.
39:43America got quite good planes.
39:46I'm a bit disappointed we didn't hear anything about the Italian tech tree.
39:49We were meant to get it at the end of last year.
39:52Then we were told spring of this year.
39:54It's now summer and I was hoping this would be the patch that introduced something about it.
39:58But you know, like I said, good patch all around.
